You sure know the boy.

His build up play is excellent. He will always need to play 1-2 touches with a team mate to get over his opponents.
But when it comes to facing a defender 1 on 1 he usually falls short.

He is an excellent team player and also good in finishing. But the dribbling skills is not just there.

you summed it up brilliantly. His two strong points are 1-2 touches and his finishing abilities. I do not really know about his aerial abilities but I remember it was just mildly okay

Wolfburg coach Jonker on Osimhen and other injured personnel:

Things look good so far as personnel is concerned. Benaglio, Dejagah, Azzaoui and Osimhen are progressing very well. We began with 15 players but there were 25 guys on the pitch today - that's really good.If we continue as we have been going of late, we will get more points - which is basically what it's all about. We are very proud that so many of our fans are making the trip to Berlin to get behind us.

Chai! See Iheanacho before he went to the drilling master school. They have killed the best part of his game at Manchester City. grin

Please, open your eyes and count how many times Awoniyi dribbled in that match. grin

He is a better player on the air than all his contemporaries at the U17 stage. grin

Someone even said he doesn't have the ability in him. Hahahaha! grin Very funny.

Awoniyi was the best player in a competition that featured Kelechi Iheanacho and the rest. grin

Football na luck. grin

The same Awoniyi out performance his contemporaries at the U20 WC.

Without Awoniyi who singlehandedly won matches for us at the U17, we for no carry cup. grin

Awoniyi singlehandedly won a match that qualified us to the U23 Africa Nations Cup.

Since, people wanted their boys to go to the Olympics, pressure was mounted on the poor lad and to add salt to injury, Siasia damaged his confidence when he dropped him at the last minute.

Psychologically, he was downcasted and unfortunately, he went to Germany with this mind set. Poor boy.

He used to have a fairly good dribbling ability during his U17 days, and he showed glimpses of that during the Pellegrini era, though regressed. From what I have seen this season, the little dribbling ability he has has been drilled out of him. He now lacks that confidence of taking out outfield players. Another indictment of the Pep era on the young man.

I for join this argument. I think "who is a better striker?" will bring more quality debate. then we can look at all their attributes. Dribbling alone is not enough for a striker. Some strikers dribble without any good end product, like good passes or scoring -- that does not help the team in any way.

Yeah, very correct.

But a striker being able to dribble adds more to his abilities.

Olivier Giroud comes to mind. In the whole of the EPL I don't think there is any striker that is as good as Giroud in terms of tap-ins and aerial headers in front of goal (maybe except Andy Carrol). But have u ever seen a goal where he takes on a defender one on one to create chance for himself to score. If Giroud had such dribbling abilities like Aguero added to his excellent positioning for tap-ins and headers, no striker for near him in the EPL o.

Immediately I saw Awoniyi's poor dribbling abilities at the U17, I was not sure he would emerge as a lethal striker, sincerely.
A player like that maybe suitable for the English game. Could be why Liverpool went after him and sent him on loan to Germany where they don't do much of dribbling but are still very lethal in front of goal.

I wish the young lad all the best anyways.

I am not saying he is a bad player, I am just saying that forgiveness is overhyping the lad. Against Uruguay or was it Mexico, I can remember that Yahaya did everything in the middle, gave it to Iheanacho who produced a brilliant over the top ball for Awoniyi and his only contribution was that he put it away, but Forgiveness is now saying that he saved us countless times which was false. He was merely the finisher there, he didn't really score any brilliant individual strike that won us games

Contrary to your beliefs, Pellegrini is not much a fan of dribbling and likes his players going direct on goal. I remember once reading Pellegrini saying he prefers one Riquelme to ten Ronaldinho's. That was during his era at Villarreal.

Ironically Guardiola encourages his players to play with the ball. This is different from his days at Barcelona B where he did not want his players dribbling. Kolarov, Stones, Otamendi and even the goalies are also allowed to express themselves with the ball in tight situations.

Guardiola encourages Sterling to play with a more selfishly with the ball. Nolito and Sane are also good with the ball. Aguero plays more with the ball.

You can go to Youtube and see Iheanacho's goals against Manchester United when he was playing for the youth sides. Iheanacho looked like Thierry Henry then. Sad Iheanacho got separated from Patrick Vieira so early. I felt Vieira knew exactly what he wanted from Iheanacho.

If I were to do a list of top dribblers in the super eagles my top five would be

Victor Moses
Iwobi
Success
Mikel
Moses Simon

On Awoniyi from what I've seen of him from his u17 and u20 days dribbling is not his forte but that doesn't mean he won't turn out to be a good striker after all the great yekini wasn't known for dribbling as such

I can understand forgiveness displaying his massive bias in his analysis but I find it difficult when another absorbs it. Is it not Iheanacho in our last friendly against Senegal that comments came of Iheanacho making some nice moves? During the game, someone even asked who was the player making such moves and another replied Iheanacho.

Now someone can absorb Awoniyi is a better dribbler. Remarkable. Please stop this campaign. It is sickening. Is it not Iheanacho we watched dribble the goalkeeper and score that earned him CNN goal of the week.

People should fear God.

Dribble King should go to Aluko. Definitely ahead of Most Super Eagles player. Another notable mention is Isaac Success. Even though without much games, his performance against Manchester United where he skinned Bailly and completed the most dribbles in the game with few minutes on the pitch.

Victor Moses comes third to me. Exceptional at going past players. Deserved a rating higher than Success, but what Success did in that game blew my mind.

Onyekuru is another beast but I think he needs to work with a quality coach to refine his game before we can judge him.

Not really watched much of them to give a thorough rating. Simon Moses looks good also but misses tricks a bit too much for my liking.

Iheanacho has played too directly under Pellegrini that it will take a bit long to get him appreciating the deep style of build-up plays. He also does not hold on to the ball for long to have a chance to judge his dribbling skills.

Iwobi.

Does not rely much on his dribbling abilities while playing. He replies on his intelligence and Brilliant passes to create havoc. He also runs into space when he sees the gap. However, in tight situations, he has some tremendous skills in his locker. When he pulls them off, it is a joy to behold.

Not enough dribbling moments to judge his ability but he does have it in him.

Giroud has dribbled a defender and scored. Does that mean he is a better dribbler than Carzola? Can anyone think of playing Awoniyi ahead of Iheanacho on the wings or in attack midfield role?

Compare that to Iheanacho and Success.
