please take BDS consultants out of this (I never mentioned them in all comments except you want them recognised cos BDS consultants in pathology are not recognised/known). Yes MLSCN have a level they operate which are regulation, supervision and accreditation of laboratories in public, private and labs adjoined to CLINICS (What the law says.....Not me).

Thank you too, but next time you wish to quote/mention me please say something meaningful (excerpts from what I've said)

This is ur quote that made me react. U said BDS consultants in pathology are not recognized. I will now show from the website of the Royal College of Pathologists (RCP) that Consultant Oral Pathologists are very well recognized all over the world.

Oral Pathology

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology in the UK is a dental specialty. Responsibility for the dental specialties lies with the General Dental Council (GDC). The curriculum for specialist training programmes in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is approved by the GDC.
Overview and Introduction
Oral Pathology
Part 1
Oral Pathology Part 1 Examination
Format of the examination

The Part 1 is a written test of core knowledge. The examination will comprise two papers with a combination of essay questions and short notes.

Paper 1 will cover general pathological principles and will include aspects of general histopathology relevant to oral pathology. Paper 2 will be slanted to oral pathology.
Part 2
Oral Pathology Part 2 Examination
Format of the Part 2 Examination

The Part 2 examination comprises practical and oral components taken over two days and is designed to test the capability of the candidate to be an independent specialist in diagnostic oral pathology.

The Part 2 examination is conducted in five sections (designated A, B, C, D and E) with specified objectives. Candidates must pass Section A in order to be eligible for a pass. The aggregation of the scores in the different parts of the examination and any compensation between parts is at the discretion of the three examiners, who will take into account the entire performance of the candidate over the two days in reaching their agreed final decision of pass or fail.

The objective of Section A is to test the candidate’s competence to diagnose a wide range of the lesions that might present to an oral pathologist, taking cognisance of the specifications in the above sections. Section A comprises not more than 20 cases for diagnosis and lasts three hours.

The objective of Section B is to test the ability of the candidate to report complex cases. Six cases will be used. These may include a large resection, cases with multiple biopsies or cases requiring special stains, immunocytochemistry or molecular biology investigations for diagnosis. Section B lasts three hours.

The objective of Section C is to test the candidate’s ability at specimen dissection, cut-up, selection and preparation of tissue blocks for histopathological examination. Candidates should expect to be required to dissect, at least partially, an appropriate resection specimen as well as smaller biopsy material. Section C lasts not more than 45 minutes.

The objective of Section D is to assess the candidate’s ability to communicate the results and interpretation of histopathological findings in the context of a consultation using a multi-headed microscope. Section D lasts not more than two hours.

Section E is the oral examination and should last not more than one hour. The subject matter of the oral examination may include any aspect of the examination. It also includes areas not covered earlier in the examination, such as health and safety, the regulatory framework of laboratory practice, responsibilities of consultants and aspects of laboratory management.

Please o my oga I didn't equate dentistry to optometry not at any point of the converse. Please try and comprehend my post before you rush to enlighten me. I respect All health professionals, I only told him to leave BDS consultants in pathology out of the picture as I never mentioned them in my post that soon an Optometrist will storm here and start telling me about occular pathology.....Finish (or do you think pathology is only peculiar to only MBBS and BDS holders? Even the study of MLS is pathology on its own)
It's only in Nigeria such mentality exist, in the UK likewise in the US, it's not exclusive to one profession as we see in Nigeria.
https://www.rcpath.org/discover-pathology/i-want-a-career-studying.html

I didn't equate both professions as it would be foolish to as both are different and distinct professions and professionals.
Dentistry is dentistry and Optometry is optometry (no equation)

Thanks for the long lecture sha and please let this matter slide I don't feel interested in it any longer.

Thank you and have yourself a wonderful easter celebration.
You comment in a harmful/shallow minded way.....
U indirectly belittled bds by saying an Oral pathologist (Bds) is far diff and wasn't recognized seeming like they study diff pathology outside the human body, as if they don't study medicine and surgery as well in the course of bds degree..... and u even attached optometrist to back ur claims......somebody tried to enlighten u and the next thing u did was to meander away from the lights he tried to show u.....
This is kinda myopic as u said mlscn accredits labs opened by pathologist and at same time u said they are not liable, so how can u get accreditation to practice from a body that didn't give u license or accredit your scope of studies in school??
Dr Lagusta tried to enlighten you, but u never tried to listen As u kept on pressing forward to ur own stand

U just have to calm Down and learn......thanks for your time as I am also tired of the blind argument

If the belittling is your problem oya no vex. Guess you didn't see the optometry sarcasm in my comment.

At least I showed you a picture evidence to lay claims please present yours. It's like saying after a doctor becomes a consultant clinical pharmacologist (after residency) that he can use his MDCN license to open a pharmaceutical outlet/store and practice a profession regulated by another body (backed by law) without getting accreditation from PCN to operate one.
When i say they are not liable to MLSCN is this primarily they are doctors (primarily) and the MDCN takes care of matters concerning their practice should anything go wrong. You might be liable to a body but since you aren't answerable to the practice of another body, you can only get accreditation from the body that regulates the practice of what you wish for (as seen in the analogy of PCN and MLSCN).
If you can please tell me your deduction from the accreditation of the lab I showed you (Never run away from the truth)

[s]Dr Lagusta tried to enlighten you, but u never tried to listen As u kept on pressing forward to ur own stand [/s]
Quite uncalled for we have settled that, I presented evidence so he could see first hand so there's nothing to enlighten me about (hear say and principle of "the more you look" ).

U just have to calm Down and learn......thanks for your time as I am also tired of the blind argument
I learn from what I see (fact) not hear say. So if you want to make me learn give me something factual that would shut me up. At least you acknowledged I argue blindly please show me the light. I doubt you have left school cos all these claims you'd have seen it in practice

dentist and a medical doctor? But a dentist already is a medical doctor and I've never heard of institutions awarding both at the same time.

it's no offense because dentistry is like a specialty in medicine while the general practice or family medicine is general without any specialty yet. it's almost like being first a cardiologist and later on becoming an endocrinologist. the difference between the mbbs and bds is the specialty aspect of dentistry and its uniqueness in standing out and being able to award its student a degree. I think this is quite different and unlike with most other specialties where you must have a bachelor of medicine degree before pursuing them.

I understood u perfectly. According to Wikipedia, Dentistry is a branch of Medicine. It also said: "It is thought that dental surgery was the first specialization from medicine". Also, Family Medicine is a specialty of Medicine.

Hi House. Hope everyone is gud. Sth's been bothering me sad

Why does it seem like diseases and ailments get more severe during the night?? Over the Years, I've observed that coughs get stronger at night, likewise pain, feverish conditions too.

During the day when a sufferer of a particular ailment or condition is being told to rest and he/ she does so, the condition subsides, but when it turns dark, it escalates. At least, at night our bodies are relaxed now.

Is it medically linked or its just nature. Curious to know

Ionno but from my little understanding I guess at night when the body is at general rest the activity of antibodies reduce maybe.. But then sleep is a good time for antibodies to work as most of the atp is directed to their battle... My more experienced ogas will know why but I know it's related to the biochemistry nd the physiology

UNN

Thank you very much for identifying.

Please I have this question to ask about UNN:
Is it possible for one to be admitted to study either MEDICINE AND SURGERY or NURSING through direct entry with distinction in SLT?

Secondly, do you know the modalities of admission screening in UNN? I mean the ratio used in calculating the cut-off marks for admission. For example, I know that some schools like OAU used 50:50 Olevel to UTME score last year.
So can I get to know the ratio used by UNN?

Sorry to bother you with many questions.
However, thanks a lot for your anticipated invaluable reply.

I doubt if any school accept SLT for D.E... I did SLT too, and I had to rewrite jamb... but I don't know for UNN though.

Yea somebody can be admitted with that in DE but it is very hard bc most pple apply with degree, and most of them are probably Unn/uI graduates coming for 2nd degree in Med......
But I know somebody that got Medlab with SLT from Oko poly......
Just pray and run ur stuff
Its 60:40 % olevel to UTME result......and note: I heard DE students might write screening this year

Today we sincerely sympathize with them....

Indeed there are medical schools in west Africa, but in the midst of all is one with 7 black horns and 10 eyes, that has fire and acid coming out from his mouth....
To me, I will say its the Toughest place to study medicine or Dentistry due to her overly strict and tight rules.....

Honestly, we were in rude/deep shock and great consternation when our attention was drawn to the outcome of the 2nd MBBS professional exam written by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the faculty of Dentistry/Dental Surgery both in the College of Medicine University of Nig...
.
It was pathetic....it wasn't funny at all....
My heart bleeds for most of them and putting myself in their shoes, I am even scared of my ownself...
Such a result cannot be pasted even in HELL....because the devil will reject it, But here it is in the land of the living...
To the aspirants that want to choose the 2 courses above....Pray for God's direction, one thing is coming in, Another is passing out....it is not a case of I must be a doctor, it is not easy at all.......
You should know how painful it is when one fails Jamb....let alone failing MBBS and repeating or be Withdrawn from the course you laboured so much for many years...
I heard someone had wanted to commit suicide out of frustration if not that the security have to get hold of him....
.
Look at the statistics : in medicine : 107 out of 273 passed that's 39.79% passed.
33 will resit (8 resit bch, 4resit anat, 21 resit physio)....
In dentistry :10 out of 47 passed that's 21.1% passed
2 will resit (1 resit physio, 1resit bch)
Others who didn't fall within the category above will either Repeat or be Withdrawn depending in the degree of their failure....
And note: about 20 people was disqualified from writing this exam because they were unable to attend 75% attendance to one of the courses for 2nd mb and we also heard that 51 in 400l was equally disqualified from writing 3rd MB....

Remember that these people are not dumb...most of them are Genius but MB have a way of rubbishing great intellectuals
.
Prayer Chain
Please, in the next 30 mins, let's take out time to pray for the 2nd MB medical/Dental students who failed their MBBS exams. The hearts of many are failing. Please find a secluded place and say intense words of prayer for them within the next 30 minutes. Let's salvage the souls of many from the enemy. We don't want to hear of suicides or madness. Let's redeem their souls in prayers wherever they are.
on the mount Zion, there is always a hope.. God will see them through in the quest to the zenith of medical practice. Pray for Gods grace, they need it!
.
