I knew the Serengeti and Masai Mara were linked across the borders. I generally talk about them together but know the Serengeti is in Tanzania. But I've somehow always assumed since childhood than the Mt. Kilimanjaro is in Kenya.

As for the tourist figures, depends on what they mean by "tourist". If they mean all those Indians, Lebanese, Chinese etc businessmen, I guess they may be right. If they mean tourist in regularly used form for a leisure traveller/vacationer, no way in hell does Nigeria attract even 100,000, talk more of 1.5m.

In Kenya, we do not do such a thing.In Kenya, a Diaspora visitor is NOT a tourist.Just a citizen visiting Kenya.
Most Nigerian 'tourists' are mostly Nigerian diaspora
All of Kenyan tourists are non Kenyans.If we add Kenyan Diaspora to the numbers, the number swells Weeeeell past 2 million.
Many Tourists use Kenya as the gateway to Tanzania, Maasai Mara and the Serengeti are one continuous ecosystem but the Kenyan side is easier to access as there are good roads leading to the park, unlike the Tanzanian side.
As for Mt Kilimanjaro.Can you just google Amboseli National Park Kenya and look at the pictures or google Loitoktok town and check it is on the slopes of what mountain and which country it is located?

I checked your stats.We do not count our diaspora as 'tourists' like Nigeria and Ghana do.If that is the case, then Kenya gets more tourists than Tunisia then!! To us, the disapora are travelling citizens, not tourists.
There is a reason why Kenya is consistently ranked No.3 behind S.A and Egypt. We count only foreigners as tourists.If we start counting diaspora, then Nigeria is a very distant position even from countries like Algeria(which does not count its diaspora either) or Tunisia(counts foreigners only as well)
