I am not blaming Jessica for the rape as a result of the parties. That will be inhumane of me. I merely pointed that out as she was too over indulging in such things. I really didn't see it from that angle. Plus remember how she left Hannah and went to go form gang with Justin and that other white haired fellow eventually entering into Bryce's gang which she and Hannah had put off.

My own main point concerning her is that, she was just too carefree of which I am not tying it to the rape. Just independent,stand alone thing. I actually commend her,because as soon as she knew she told her parents unlike Hannah.

Concerning Justin allowing Bryce, he actually resisted, but that kid has too much of a faulty background to think straight. That is why am not heavy on judging him. If he had sound parenting like the others, I would have bashed him as equally and an unredeemable scum.

Agreed they were all spoilt brats! But Justin had no parenting not to talk of being spoilt by one. And if he did, he is likely to make a fine young man than even Clay.

Let's not forget Hannah was present at the corner when the whole thing happened.

There is also a reason under aged should not drink not to the point of being dead drunk.

Btw, at that age, was drinking,throwing parties and dating boys not to talk of having sex what you did in junior secondary?

Lol.... I am calm o. Remember I said they were all spoiled brats and Jessica was perhaps catty, she dumped her friend as soon as she joined the popular crew, it was perhaps poetic Justice that she got raped by someone in the same crew. All the same she didn't deserve to be drugged and raped by her friend with her boyfriend's knowledge.

They were 16 year olds, trust me most 16 year olds in Western nations can relate with the narrative of drinking and throwing parties when your parents are out of town. Even if I didn't drink or throw parties at 16, I know many who did when I was growing up. I don't care about Hannah jare, she pushed Sheri to take responsibility but would not do the same herself, I guess it was easier to just commit suicide. Maybe the writers did a bad job on Justin's story too almost trying to excuse his behavior; bollocks same way they tried to make the counselor look bad.
I don't think there will be a second day season, what else is there to write ?

And the writers' trying to make us hold the counselor accountable is lazy writing, like seriously what really could he have done? The girl made a choice and deliberately chose to shut out everyone that could help her for goodness sake. I was really mad at that.

I trust you to be Ma'am. She wasn't drugged however, she got drunk on her own volition. No one deserve what they were victim of in that series. But a predicator to disaster, is always always followed by bad decisions and not following rules to guide you and keep you safe.

Lol... Those friends are okay, some of them happily married. You see, there are many things we sweep under the carpet in Nigeria or pretend like we don't see. Teenagers are the same everywhere, sometimes when my hubby dey gist me about his adventures in 1980s Nigeria I just dey open mouth and his parents were none the wiser the whole time. Some societies are just more open than others.

@ vorpal and naijababe. I like your analysis of the movie. I do have to add, for most suicide victims they only need one reason to go through with it. Most of them are also attention seekers, the suicide is often their last attempt at getting attention. I do not mean to sound insensitive I am speaking from my experience with a good number of suicidal people. The writers of this movie wasn't trying to justify Hanna's decisions and actions I also do not believe that they agree that all those people did very terrible things to her, they are merely telling her story. They do not also write to make you believe that the counsellor was also to blame. They wrote what Hanna thought. As for Justin I honestly do not think making excuses for him is acceptable, his background is messed up yes, but his choices were his, you can't make excuse for a murderer or robber because he lacks good parenting. So why make excuse for justin . people with wrong background still turn out good, it all depends on choice. The same way Hanna made bad decision that is the same way Justin did, Sheri took responsibility for her actions while Alex decided to shot himself in the head. Choices. This series might seem extreme to us but to them in western world, it is their everyday suicide handbook.
