Well I just discovered this amazing app that makes you shop online using bitcoins (Virtual credit card linked to your bitcoin account)

You maybe wondering why "AliExpress" well I'm just using it as a case study.

Since some Nigerian banks blocked their cards for online payment (except for GTB, access and FCMB which comes with a monthly limit) it is frustrating waiting for the next month to load your alipocket or using two credit card and standing by for your appeal to be approved before buying items worth $101 or above on AliExpress or other shopping sites

So for many months now I've been using third parties on "technology market" thread to help me purchase things on eBay and other sites except for Amazon where i can purchase gift cards from trusted agent to make payments myself

Majority of NLanders love using AliExpress for purchasing phones and other items, so now you can buy items above $100 now and even on other sites that accepts visa cards

Head to Google play store and download "ShakePay" and register

U'll notice that "Nigeria is excluded" don't worry just register your Nigerian phone number and select "United Kingdom" as your country and credit your account with bitcoins.

I tested the app with $5 worth of BTC to know if it will work....When block chain confirmed my transaction, ShakePay automatically generated a virtual visa card for me

I just used the card information to purchase an item on AliExpress and it worked flawlessly..

P.S no mind my writeup.. I'm just overwhelmed that I can link my bitcoins with a virtual card to shop flawlessly without too much protocol and documentation


Probably when I have enough time i will do a step by step guide... But its a simple work through if you follow the instructions

Yeah you can get BTC at 380-395 from sellers here....

Refunds will reflect on your card

At least you can buy some stuffs online, pay for Facebook ads etc

They do gain on commission fee... Cos when i loaded $5 BTC I was charged $5.05 (They charge 1% of any amount you load)... So probably that's how they make their money

Gtbank master card is 320 naira to the dollar. I bet you can't see anyone selling at that price for btc

To make a seamless funding of your shakepay account.. make sure you install block chain app on your phone..

When you click "add funds" just put the amount you want to fund ($5 minimum) and click "next"

A window showing the BTC address to make payment will come up (and you have 10 mins to make payment or else the address becomes invalid)

So what I did alternatively was to click " Open wallet" and my blockchain wallet app came up automatically with the address and amount .. so what you only do is to click send and confirm

Then wait for blockchain to confirm your transaction (If you are a first time user a virtual Visa card will automatically be created for you after blockchain confirmation)

If you are an existing user, the funds will be credited to your shakepay account which your virtual Visa card is also linked

If i have BTC for sale, I sell it below that amount sometimes... Yesterday i bought $35 of BTC at 395 ... So it depends on your bargaining ability and your relationship with the seller

It's a lil better than GTbank cos there's no limit

So if you don't care much about the BTC rates ... Then you can use this alternatively (the only price difference when shopping with your $320 gtbank card with $395 shakepay BTC virtual card of an item worth $50 is N3750)

I'm just saying this is a Better alternative if you wanna bypass the $100 monthly limit with your cards

My order on AliExpress has been shipped.... If you don't mind the BTC rates at least this is a Better alternative... Remember months ago we use to buy stuffs at the rate of 520-530

If this card is linked to paypal. How will someone get the verification code. Does the shake pay have something like a message center.

1 Eur/Month for card fee ain't much compared to what banks charges us here for card transactions

I don't know about linking the shakepay with PayPal though. But you can email their customer care for more information on that

Some will like to leave money there so that anytime btc-usd value rises. I cash out and store my usd on the visa card
