Oladipupo: My wife and I have been sleeping naked from the start of our relationship. It kind of began because of our sex life and neither of us is able to put enough effort into getting dressed afterwards. I am now unable to sleep with clothes on. Even with underwear, I sweat like crazy and feel like I am choking.

According to research, sleeping naked has a lot of benefits over sleeping clothed.

When you dont have to worry about sleeping in clothes, then you dont have to buy pajamas. It saves your money and you have less clothes to wash.

You feel happier and more free. You are free of underwear and pants. You sleep better.

When you sleep next to someone, skin to skin contact like cuddling before going to sleep releases oxytocin which helps you feel those good feelings about your partner. This kind of contact can lead to a more active sex life.

It can help your skin. The private part, armpits and feet that are restricted all day will get to breathe. This can lower the risk of skin diseases like athlete’s foot that result from wet restricted skin.

Helps you regulate your cortisol. Sleep naked so you can keep your body temperature down and sleep well so your body can properly produce and regulate cortisol(stress hormone).

It keeps your sex organ happier. For men, it allows your testes to remain at at cooler temperature and it helps keep your sperm healthy. For women, it can prevent yeast infections since yeast grows better in warm moist conditions.

Sleeping in summer is more bearable. If you don’t have air conditioning, then you may find your bedroom stuffy at night. You will be able to sleep well when you sleep naked. You don’t want to wake up drenched in sweat.

So now, it’s time to start taking off your clothes at night. There are times you put on your clothes, if you are ill or cold.
