cuspy: The two bold up don't go together. Why you 'dropped out' from the previous PhD program will call for questioning by the 'top ranked' PhD program. If you dropped out because of bad performance, that's a good reason for the adcom to reject your application when selecting prospective PhD students. Your dropping out is a bad business for the first program, the second program would have learned. My suggestion is for you to apply to programs with different varieties of strength. PhD selection is very competitive, you know this already. |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by Analytics: 2:21am On Apr 25, 2017 |
imperiouxx:People drop out from PhD program for better offers and some schools usually give the option of leaving if you no longer want to continue with the PhD program after 2years. I am not talking about bad performance. I mean voluntarily with good reasons. I can share a friend who did same and he is university of Kentucky, Louisville. |

Analytics: If he left for a good reason, then he stands a better chance. But he has to prove to the new program he won't treat them like he treated the last after been invested on. Crossing may not be hard if the course he's applying for is one of those that receive low application. |

cuspy: There is no issue with this. It is just as if you only went for your first university for masters and now want to use the masters to get a PhD program. This is one good way to get a top university if you have a good CGPA. Top schools would prefer to see transcripts from US rather than international and value recommendation from US professor's to African professor. You may need to seat for GRE again to boost your score. Texas A&M college station is a good school for science student. Try it! Goodluck 2 Likes |

aamstih: This is a standard school however it is private.... a lot of the private school tuition are high and also califonia in general has a higher cost of living. If u combine that with high tuition then it works out so expensive with today exchange rate |

imperiouxx:It is clear his program is MS/PhD. You can opt to leave if you want with your masters. There is nothing like treatment. |

Good day, Please I have been here for a while and really learnt a lot. I kinda need help with this. I got fall masters admission into Cleveland state uni(chemical engineering) and Grand Valley state uni(Cell and Molecular Biology;Biotechnology emphasis). Now Cleveland insists on no funding, but 50% chance after the first year. However, GVSU says GA are awarded after the first semester of attendance based on CGPA( December I guess), cheaper tuition, internship opportunity during the course of the programme. Now my undergraduate degree is Biotechnology. But Cleveland has closer research ties with my undergraduate research but GVSU focuses more on medical BTE(I still have nice background). Considering all this facts I just need advice as to which school to settle with regarding interview, ranking and even my fitting into the programmes. Thanks Gurus in the house I look forward to your kind advice based on experience 1 Like |

I have already been offered an admission for mph at university of southern mississippi, so am still weighing the options. Ur advice is needed urgently. Thanks a million |
