As Africa stands currently, there is no other way. None of the countries has the capacity to build infrastructure on the scale they need. So China comes in. The Chinese won't do it for free, so we exchange with our resources. After all, are we going to drink the oil?

Did I say otherwise? I am patting Nigeria in the back for her fall and congratulating China for taking time to mature to the stage where they buy out Africa.

But how is it a "fall" by Nigeria? Trade is a matter of Quid pro quo. You have something of value, I have something of value. We each need what the other has. We exchange, with both sides happy, and you say one is a fall and the other one success... How?

It isn't a fall, it is a growth and development as we sell ourselves to China. It is a very commendable act. What would happen if Nigeria invests in herself and develops to the extent of buying China? Dont you see this trend is here to stay? Do you see Nigeria advancing g beyond these kinds of operation anytime soon? Do you think it is best for Nigeria? Why won't I call for accountability and improved hands on support and promotion by fg to develop Nigeria?

Do you realise it was western companies that developed China's initial infrastructure? She used that to propel herself to the prosperity that led to current indigenous capacities. The way for Nigeria to "invest in herself " starts with infrastructure. Without infrastructure, you're just chasing shadows. So, we are not "selling ourselves to China". We are building our country. Do you know of any Nigerian company you can award a contract to build a railway network from scratch? No? So what do you do? It is not the government's job to construct railways. They are there to govern. So you get a Chinese firm to do it. At the best price compared to what western companies would charge. You input training of local staff, engineers etc in the contract. You learn their technology, before long, local firms will start supplying parts for the systems...and then we will start seeing local firms rising to compete with the manufacturing/construction etc. That's how China themselves did it with the west. So we are not doing anything different. It's just like how we started by importing cars.....now we have companies like Innoson building cars here.
