These students have barley two(2) or three (3) months to go before project defense and graduation, have exams coming up this week and the school wakes up and decides to suspend them for one (1) year? And what happens to the fees paid for the year? In this economic recession, parents should cough out close to a Million Naira again to pay fees

How many "churchy" schools have ever done this? None! Its only Covenant University! Is there no better punishment to give to these students than suspension for a WHOLE YEAR What culture are you trying to imbibe into these students? When they are suspended, will they go home and become better people? What are the lecturers and counselors in the school for? What are the various Bible studies or programs in the school for? Are they organized for just believers? Who did the church come for? Who did Jesus come for? Isn't it the sinners? What if after every sin we commit, our Almighty Father in Heaven decides to suspend us from this earth, where will we all be?

I should believe parents who take their children to such schools do so not just for academic purposes, but also for the spiritual aspect. Isn't that why they have a course titled "The Total Man?" Or what other reason is this course for, if not to build all students, particularly the erring ones to become better people? If not so, they should please enlighten us.

I think this time around, Covenant University has gone over board!

Hearing so many stories like this about this same institution makes one assume that there could be some kind of binding agreement parents sign whenever they enrol their wards.

If that is so, such agreements would have to be respected.

Mr Alakurin, Dont come and make noise here on Nairaland, check all the agreements you and your parents signed before you were admitted for a clause containing this sanction, if there is none ,Check for another clause that restricts you from suing your school , if there is none ,OYA SMILE, cause your school own don finish , dem go pay for damage and retract that suspension.

i dont understand human beings, u pick up a form and sign that you will obey their rules including paying the fees plus the price of hardwork to get your desired grade. you have also spent 4 to 5 yrs in the school and u still dont know how the school system works? Final year is the time to do all they want so you can leave and continue your hypocritical life IF nothing has changed you there.

same for every Navy, command or islamic school you attend. Even for life, you say you are a model then refuse when dey want u to stand naked with only the company jewelry to snap and put on major magazines. why go dere in the first place, d rules were very clear.

I feel your pain but rules are rules.

If it is a rule that all students must attend all school activities and some students decide not to comply, then they should face the music.

I agree the punishment is a bit much for the offense but I'm sure if the affected students appeal for leniency through the right channel, it could be reviewed.

Starting a social media storm will not help much in this case.

Rules are rules...


It's not the first time such an occurrence is happening in Covenant University and it definitely won't be the last...
