Nowenuse: So you are trying to say Alshabab is a child play to Boko Haram... 1.Alshabab were controlling a country and not astate 2. They were fighting against Somali forces plus Amison troops..meaning they were more stronger 3. They had access to the sea (Kisimayu ) meaning they could get any artillery they wanted. 4. They had better finances from pirates, Charcoal export and sympathisers across the region. I believe Alshabaab were stronger than those Bokoharam 1 Like |

Maduawuchukwu: Seriously, Nigerian govt must do something about that North-east region. It is just too vast and it has the lowest population density. It is also the gateway and roadway to the middle east. Security must be strengthened there. If you ever enter some interior areas in the North-east, you will wonder if you are still in Nigeria. The only good thing about the North-east is that about 1/3 of them are christians and are very much flexible and opened up, that's why, even as rural and infrastructurally terrible as that region is, they still have a higher literacy rate and lower poverty rate than North-west (Hausa-fulani homeland with 90% muslims). |

Nigerians see oil as a curse, how do you think Nigeria stayed on top before the discovery of crude in the Niger Delta? You don't what your talking about, if the Crude dries up today (which we are all praying it does), you'd be surprised how quickly things will shift. It's not rocket science, Kenya explored those options cos it did not have crude oil type of money, you'd be surprised how quickly our so called tea industry will die out the moment crude oil comes in commercial quantity. But really I don't pray y'all go same route we did if that ever happens but odds are you probably will. MtuMsuper: |

Ednite:. I understand now, so thats why Coffee is your major export and it also explain why there is always a huge population of Ethiopians and Erithreans in high caffeine consumption regions of the world such as Scandanavia. Also, i think it would be great if your government or rich individuals built large refineries to help oil rich african nations like Nigeria and Angola refine their crude oil. Am sure the Gdp would obviously double. If Dangote(Richest man in Nigeria) can build a refinery am sure the government of Ethiopia can build multiple refineries? |

Don't mind them living in their little shells thinking they can make compare their country to Naija. Mind you their first major highway Thika - Nairobi was only built in 2012. Not sure when Mombasa - Nairobi highway was built but it's older than Thika highway. They can only make all this noise because they have a smaller population to cater for, dem think say 180m people na beans. Nowenuse: |

naijalander:The name Kenya is a Kamba word that the British adopted. 'Kinyaa' is what Kambas called Mt Kenya Kenyatta named himself after the country, not the other way around.Kenyatta's original name was Johnstone Kamau and he changed his name to Kenyatta after the British had Kenya as a name. Looool!!!Kenya's economy is BY FAAAAAAAAAR more diversified than Nigeria.Nigeria's exports are dominated by one commodity and one commodity alone.Oil. Kenya is a major exporter of a wide variety of agricultural products to Europe ,Asia and the Middle East while it exports manufactured goods to the EAC and COMESA region. Our largest trade partner is Uganda. We do not export tea or coffee or horticultural products to Uganda. We export manufactured goods!! Same to Tanzania, our third largest trading partner As for milk production, Nigeria does not match up to the countries that had colonial settlers and have a temperate climate. South Africa is the largest producer of milk on the continent, followed by Zimbabwe then Kenya. The climate of Nigeria does not allow for the keeping of pure breed high yielding cows, Zimbabwe and South Africa have a temperate climate and so do the highlands of Kenya. You cannot compete. Your climate cannot support the keeping of 30 liter a day producing Guernsey and Fresian cattle as is the case in Central Kenya. We rarely produce powdered milk.I have never consumed powdered milk in my life!!Although KCC does produce powdered milk, they export it mostly Kenya is a milk exporter. Both UHT and powdered milk is exported to Rwanda,Turkey South Sudan and the likes.Nigeria IMPORTS milk, even from Kenya in powder form. And who told you Kenya's milk industry is a Brookside monopoly Brookside is the largest in terms of milk production, but Kenya has over 40 milk processors, the vast majority being owned by Cooperatives. Brookside is the largest in milk production, Yes, but it is easily matched by KCC,A Government parastatal that has over 10 factories, as compared to Brookside's four. Others are Sameeer AgriculturaL,(Makers of Daima), Delamere,Eldoville, Kilifi Gold,Limuru Dairies, Githunguri Dairies, Mariakani Cooperative Society,Meru Cooperative, Bio Foods LTD,Kiabanga and Kinangop Diaries. A few multinationals like Nestle also have contracts with farmers in Kajiado county. |

Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by naijalander: 7:25pm On Apr 25, 2017 |
Tourism Tea Coffee Flowers That is all Kenya exports so don't make senseless statements like 'wide variety ' which wide variety ?? Also, Nigeria does have a thriving local manufacturing industry that exports to ECOWAS nations, shoes, clothes you only need to dig deeper. Again this is oil we are talking about! You simply cannot compare the potency, all you gotta do is drill and export it and your in millions. Compare it to Agric products that need further processing, in short oil money makes people lazy. Last year, a company called Promethean here also began exporting Tin Ore, Nigerian is not in anyway stagnant, the other budding industries simply lack subsidy from powerful entrepreneurs and politicians but eventually that will change, no one can stop the re-industrialization of Nigeria, keyword re-industrialization! Because Crude oil refineries are expensive to maintain especially in a country with horrible maintenance culture. Refine, process, package, these are long processes. Also don't forget barriers! We start refining our own oil, what happens to the importation cartels and Western petroleum ? Of course they fight back, they have always found a way to sabotage these things. TayserMahiri: |

Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by DonnieTheGreat: 7:29pm On Apr 25, 2017 |
GERALD710: Baba Oil exports account for only 10% of Nigeria's GDP. So lets do the math. Nigeria's current GDP is $500 billion . 10% of $500 billion = $50 billion $500 - $50 billion = $450 billion. There you go, Nigeria would still be the largest economy in Africa without oil. Its just that the oil exports which is just 10% of the GDP is our major earner of foreign exchange. So when there is fall in oil prices the country experiences foreign currency shortages which plunges the country in macro recessions. Like this recent one we are just recovering from. Even as great as that recession was. Nigeria is still projected to grow by 0.8% this year and our foreign reserve is currently around $40billion. thats just $20 billion short of Kenya's whole Gdp. Kenya too is not so different, Tourism is your major source of foreign exchange. If something happened to Tourism in Kenya your economy would likely collapse and would not even dream of the recovery Nigeria is currently going through. So stop all the noise about "Our Kenyan economy is diverse." All african countries (Nigeria,Angola,South Africa,Kenya) are suffering from this mono economic syndrome where the whole economy is hinged on just one Industry. Its sad but its the reality of Africa. Good new!!. thing are changing for Nigeria, Kenya and co. |

naijalander: Wow! You really know much about Kenya. What surprises most kenyans here is that they think many Nigerians don't know the terrible things in that itty-bitty country of theirs. So they come here and flood us with lies. Gosh! Can you imagine how a political family (the Kenyattas) will turn a full country to their private estate? Gosh! Why are black people so wicked and greedy? And what pains me the most is that in places like Kenya and other African countries, you see this rich political families flaunting this stolen wealth of theirs publicly! I thank God that Such nonsense does not happen in Nigeria. That is the height of insult to the people of a nation. It looks like these corrupt political families do nit give a damn about what their people think about them. Or could it be that we are the ones getting it wrong here and that people ruled by such leaders are just cheap sycophants?? 1 Like |

mehn Nigerians are the most well traveled folks in the sub Saharan, I've been around and I meet Igbo dudes in almost every local govt I enter ! The Moi they are talking about ruled them for 23 years, which person for Naija fit try that nonsense, Abacha wanted to try it and dem off d guy sharp sharp. Basically Kenya starts and ends with the Kenyatta family. Their country is ruled by a Kikuyu - Kalenjin/Nandi elite and they are just as tribalistic as Nigerians even though they have a unifying language. I swear if Naija had a unifying language, it will be a different story. Nowenuse: |

Nowenuse:WHERE IN KENYA'S ECONOMY DO INDIANS DOMINATE SAVE FOR MANUFACTURING? Again, Nigerians with their lack of knowledge of Kenya past the year 1966!! Kenya's economy is dominated by 1.The Government of Kenya.Because we are a mixed Economy, not a purely Capitalist one. The Government of Kenya is in EVERY sector of the Economy. 2.Kikuyus. Last I checked, most small and medium sized businesses, the ones that form 84% of our GDP happen to be dominated by one tribe. Why do you think they were targeted in 2007, were Indians targeted SMH!!! Do Indians grow tea, coffee, flowers, horticultural products, keep dairy cattle?? Do they dominate tourism? Do they dominate transportation?(P.S. There is a ban on Indians owning transport companies since 1968) How many Indian owned banks in Kenya are in the top 10? .2. DTB and I&M. The Government has three KCB,(KCB is the largest bank in East and Central Africa by Assets and profit and Branch network. It is owned by the Government of Kenya),National Bank and Cooperative. Two are multinationals(Barclays and Standard Chartered) and the rest are either fully or partally owned by Kenyans of African Descent,Kikuyus Even in Industry, those Indians borrow money for factory expansion from the Government of Kenya, because the financiers of Industry in Kenya is the Government of Kenya through ICDC, the Industrial Development Bank and the Kenya Industrial Estates. Even where Indians are the largest owners of a particular establishment, the Government makes sure that they establish a counter weight until Black Africans establish themselves. Example. Nakumatt is the largest retailer in Kenya(with a 12% market share mind you) but it was historically balanced out by Uchumi, which was established by the Government of Kenya to do eactly that. Since the 2000s, regional supermarkets have cropped up in every regions and these supermarkets are woned by locals, be it Kassmatt, which is found in all major Kalenjin inhabited towns like Kericho,Eldoret,Kitale, etc. and is owned by a Kalenjin, Maathai Supermarket dominates Central Kenya is owned by a Kikuyu.Eastmatt dominates Central Rift, etc Black African family owned supermarkets have also risen to challenge the Nakumatt-Uchumi duopoly.Tuskys and Naivas are now just as dominant as Nakumatt(Uchumi having faded into the background), so what the hell are you talking about dude!!!You have no idea how our economy works and in fact, Indians today are ever diminishing in influence . For example, our IT sector has only one Indian. One!!!!!!!!It is over 99% African!! 1 Like |

My advice: PLEASE build the refineries and secure exporting deals for refined petroleum first before you start drilling. Don't negotiate Crude export, negotiate refined petroleum exports and it's even better for y'all cos you have stable electricity. TayserMahiri: |

DonnieTheGreat: It's a fact that Oil accounts to over 90% of nigerian export. It's also a fact that most African countries are suffering from mono economics.. When the oil prices went down Nigerian and Angolan economy were straggling very much at some point the economy almost de-grew. When kenyan economy was heat hard by Alshabab the tourim industry almost went dead but the economy still grew plus 5%. To me that is what it means to have a diverse economy. |
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Nowenuse: 7:43pm On Apr 25, 2017 |
MtuMsuper: It's not our fault that we were blessed with crude oil in Nigeria. You guys were blessed with an amazing wildlife and this has helped you immensely in developing your tourism sector. Prior to the discovery of crude oil, go and see how Nigeria was among the leading world exporters of Cocoa, Oil palm, Rubber, Groundnut, Hides & skin, Tin & Columbite, Coal e.t.c Oil came along with the de-regionalization of Nigeria and that was what destroyed this. However, if you are in touch with Nigerian affairs, you will see how our agricultural, manufacturing and tourism industry is drastically coming up. In a few years time you will be shocked. Haven't you asked yourself how we came out of recession even with the existing low world oil prices? |
