tbaba1234: "Osayi-Samuel qualifies for England but has stated that he wants to play for Nigeria, which is the country of his birth." This is impressive, but five goals in 38 appearances in League 2 as a winger is kinda poor. It's important to know how many assists he had though, and his overall contribution to team goals. |

joseph1013: 5 goals, 3 assists... Not very impressive stats but if spurs are interested in him then they must be seeing some potential. He is just 19. |

Nigeria legend: I was better than Barcelona star Lionel Messi... Diego Maradona told me so VINCENT ENYEAMA has claimed he proved he is a better player than Barcelona's Lionel Messi at the 2014 World Cup. By James Cambridge Vincent Enyeama has claimed he outshone Lionel Messi at the 2014 Brazil World Cup Nigeria legend Vincent Enyeama came up against Lionel Messi for Argentina in the group stages of the Brazil World Cup. The African side were beaten 3-2, with Enyeama conceding two goals from the Barcelona star. However, the ex-Nigeria goalkeeper is adamant he was a better player on the day, claiming he "bossed" the 29-year-old. Lionel Messi celebrates his late winner against Real Madrid in El Clasico After watching Messi's last-gasp winner against Real Madrid in El Clasico last weekend, Enyeama tweeted: "I am not sure that he is human. "He is so fast, precise and so good. Messi be bossing El Clasico." But a fan jumped on the comment, remembering the Lille keeper had previously been undone by Messi, joking he had been "bossed" at the World Cup. However, Enyeama hit back suggesting he had been better than the Argentina star, claiming Messi and Diego Maradona had both told him so. I was called El Phenomenon by Lionel Messi Vincent Enyeama "I bossed him bro," he added. "I was called El Phenomenon by him and El Diego [Maradona]. Not sure that you were born." Enyeama retired from international football in October 2015 as Nigeria's most-capped player, making 101 appearances. www.express.co.uk/sport/football/796222/Vincent-Enyeama-Nigeria-Lionel-Messi-Barcelona-Argentina-Diego-Maradona |

Nigerians in Cameroon give tips on how to beat Lions in Limbe By Gowon Akpodonor Cameroon’s defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui holds up the trophy as the team celebrates beating Egypt 2-1 to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final football match between Egypt and Cameroon at the Stade de l’Amitie Sino-Gabonaise in Libreville on February 5, 2017. PHOTO: ISSOUF SANOGO / AFP A Nigerian based in Cameroun, Samson Afejukwu was a regular caller in Super Falcons camp at the mountain and sea view Hotel Parliamentarian Flat in Buea, where the team played its group matches and semifinal tie during the 10th African Women’s Nations Cup, which Nigeria won last December. Buea, a town with unpredictable weather condition, is in south-west region of Cameroon. It is about 15 kilometers drive to the 20,000 capacity Omisport Stadium in Limbe, where the Super Eagles will play their 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun in September this year. The hill-top and ocean view Omisport complex, the first international stadium build in the South West Region of Cameroun, was the venue of the Group B opener between the Super Falcons and the girls from Mali last November, where the coach Florence Omagbemi-led team triumphed 6-0. Nigeria will host the Indomitable Lions in Uyo on August 28 before travelling to Cameroun for the return fixture on September 2. The Eagles have six points and are on top of Group B from two games ahead of the Lions, who have two points, while Zambia and Algeria have only a point to show after two matches. Afejukwu, a football enthusiast based in Limbe, Cameroun told The Guardian in a telephone chat yesterday there was nothing to worry about the Lions. “The Lions of Cameroun are the new African champions, but I don’t see that making any difference in the World Cup qualifiers in September,” Afejukwu said. “They were just lucky in Gabon and I want Nigerians back home to see it from that angle. Perhaps, if the Super Eagles were in Gabon, things wouldn’t have worked out smoothly for the Lions. This region can be very cold sometime, and I want the NFF to put it into consideration when preparing the team for the return leg. As I said, the Indomitable Lions are beatable here in Limbe because it is a no man’s land,” Afejukwu said. Another Nigerian, Emmanuel Osubida, a trader at Buea town, said that it is a long time to go till August, and he strongly believe ‘many distractions’ might crop up in the camp of the Lions that may derail their World Cup aspiration. Dutch Youngster Donyell Malen Preferred Ahead Of Nigerian Teen Nwakali By Arsenal Manager Wenger Manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger has given highly rated 17 year old Dutch forward Donyell Malen a spot in Arsenal pre season squad, while he is yet to make up his mind on Kelechi Nwakali. Malen has trained severally with the first team, and the Dutch teen wonder, who was already a regular for Arsenal U-23 at the age of 16 will have his first team bow in pre season. Wenger rates the forward highly and Malen has not disappointed the manager with his performances for the U-23s. A form which has now earned him a spot in their pre season squad according to Arsenal insider Mark Taylor. ” Malen is definitely going to be a part of the first team pre season activities, as for Nwakali the scouting reports has been impressive but his consistency is not there yet. ” He (Nwakali) tends to blow hot and cold during games. Aside his form which is very encouraging considering his age, the issue of securing a work permit could see him head out on another loan”, Taylor told Owngoalnigeria.com. Nigeria: Eagles'll Beat Bafana Bafana, Lions - NFF The Nigeria Football Federation has stated that the Super Eagles will be ready for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa next month. The Eagles will have stern tests in the next two months as the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2018 Fifa World Cup kick into gear. South Africa will provide the first test as Nigeria attempt to make it back into the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the last two editions while Cameroon will be up next for the Eagles as the qualifiers for the World Cup resume in August. The NFF insists all is well and on track to ensure that Nigeria qualify for both the Nations Cup and the World Cup. "We are on course, everything has been put in place for the two games against South Africa and Cameroon. The Federation is doing everything possible to make sure we qualify for the Nations Cup and the World Cup, "NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire said. "As you are already aware, we took a tour of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and it has been approved for the game. We have also written to the Akwa Ibom State Government as regards what needs to be done to get the stadium ready. "The Technical and Development Committee is also working hand in hand with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to get the team ready. The committee is constantly in touch with Rohr and they are expecting him to give a list of players he wants to use to prosecute the matches. He has a free hand to pick whoever he wants. "Once this is done, the committee, alongside the coach will sit down and fine tune the squad so that everything is in place. We are leaving nothing at ensuring the best legs prosecute these games. "It is the NFF's utmost desire to see that Nigeria is back at the Nations Cup as well as qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. We are well on course and we implore Nigerians to support us and the team." he added. When asked about the possible return of the retired Vincent Enyeama to the Super Eagles, Olajire said everything lies with Rohr as he is at liberty to choose who he feels can help the team. "When we hired Rohr we gave him a free hand to pick or select whoever he wants. That has not changed," he stated. "As far as a player is eligible to play for Nigeria then there is no issue. If Rohr feels he needs Enyeama then he can go ahead and invite him. "The onus is on Enyeama and Rohr as we have no problems with his return. The NFF will always respect Rohr's choices. There is a perfect understanding between Rohr and the NFF as we all want the same thing which is success for Nigeria."Olajire added. Nigeria are top of Group B of the Africa zone of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier with maximum points from two games and will face African champions Cameroon in the next Match Day in August at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo. But before that, South Africa will be the Eagles first test for spot at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations at the same venue in Uyo. allafrica.com/stories/201704250398.html |

Former Nigeria U-17 Goalkeeper Gets Senior Squad Number At Deportivo La Coruna Former Nigeria U-17 shot stopper Francis Uzoho has been handed a first team squad number by the technical crew of Spanish La-Liga side Deportivo La Coruna. The 18 year old joined the team in January from the prestigious Aspire Academy in Qatar, a transfer exclusively reported by this football portal few months ago. Although he is yet to make a first team appearance, he has severally trained with the first team, and impressed the handlers who have now decided to hand him a first team squad number in jersey number 23. In the summer, he is expected to make his debut for the team in pre season games from where his performances could land him a permanent spot in the first team in competitive games. For now he is the third choice goalkeeper of the La-Liga outfit, who are placed 16th on the log, and mathematically not saved yet as they face the prospect of dropping to the second division in Spain unless they pick up points in their remaining five games of the season. Uzoho was a part of the Nigerian U-17 team of 2013 that won the U-17 World Youth Championship in the UAE. He was the third choice goalkeeper of the team as head coach Manu Garba settled for Dele Alampasu as his first choice. 2017 Beach Soccer W/Cup: Iran Captain Looks Beyond Nigeria, Other Group B Opponents Skipper of Iran's national beach soccer team, Mohammed Ahmadzadeh, has tipped his country to finish top of Group B which has Nigeria, Italy and Mexico at this year's FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas. The 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup kicks off on Thursday, April 27 and will end on May 7. On the opening day of the tournament – in Group B, Nigeria will face Italy, while Iran and Mexico will do battle. Ahmad zadeh, 30, says that their knowledge of Italy and Mexico especially in past meetings will be to their advantage. “I think we’re going to win the group," Ahmadzadeh tells FIFA.com. "We’re going to do everything we can to beat Italy and Mexico. We know both of them well because we’ve played them before in competitions and friendlies.” A veteran of five Beach Soccer World Cups, Ahmadzadeh tips Iran to make it to the semi-finals in Bahamas, pointing out that the experience he garnered in past World Cups and some of his teammates will be a factor for the team. He states: “Iran are one of the top teams in the world and we’re not inferior to anyone. I’m convinced that if we can make the second round, then we’ll go on to the last four. “There are five or six of us who’ve played at five World Cups. That’s half a team with a lot of experience.” “I’ve played in a lot of Beach Soccer World Cup matches and I’ve seen the highs and lows. The team has pulled together whenever things have gone against us, and I’m going to draw on all my experience to help my team-mates and make sure we can go as far as we can.” www.completesportsnigeria.com/2017-beach-soccer-wcup-iran-captain-looks-beyond-nigeria-group-b-opponents/ |

forgiveness: When was the U17 tournament? Consider time lapse you cannot make an application on past glories. How many senior caps has he won, has he been playing in a top European club. Has he played Champions league what are his stats, top goal scorer in league or club, highest number of assists, etc. Bearing in mind your earlier assertion, What Special Talent If he had come to Arsenal's academy as a young teenager there would be no issues he would now be classed as home grown. However, he has been in Holland for the past 2/3 years, doing what I do believe he will face work permit issues even on appeal I doubt if he will be granted a permit. Just my opinion. p.s. Checked his Stats, he is 20 now and has played 23 games and 1 goal. 1 Like |

komekn: Emm.... I see reasons with some of your points. But let me make some amendments. Kelechi Nwakali has not played up to even 2 yrs in Holland. First off, he featured in the 2015 FIFA U17 in November 2015, which is not up to 2yrs ago and he was not yet in Holland then. Secondly If he was U17 in November 2015, this is about 18months after. So he cannot be 20 yet. He should be 19 at most. |
