Hello kemiiii. To a degree, the credibility of one family member impacts the others, both positively and negatively. An example is when children qualify through their parents despite having no income or other ties. The couple you describe have a 50% compliance rate with our visa laws. If this were school, that would be a failing grade.

Thank you.

However, do you thing she can renew her visa?

Good Afternoon,
I renewed my visa via the dropbox already. We plan to take my Mother (not so fluent with English) with us for our vacation. Do we need to follow her into the interview or an interpreter would be provided for her? I am the one paying for her to join us for the trip.
Thank you, always!

Hello IdrisAdebiye. You are welcome to accompany her, but we have many translators. Consular Officers generally prefer to use one of our translators in these situations.

Dear deyeancah. Don't post identifying information on this forum. Tell your relation to explain the name mistake at the interview.

Hello flow2davis. When applicants are endeavoring to do something expensive in the US, such as healthcare or education, consular officers will occasionally ask for proof of sufficient funds to finance such activities. In such cases, the account statements should be as current as possible. We do check into the validity of these documents, and any fraud discovered will have dire consequences for the applicant's ability to ever travel to the US.

Hello Ephraimboi. DHS has authority over port of entry issues, so you would have to inquire with them to be sure. The standard duration is six months.

Thank you VO for your reply. I have gone through as many pages as possible and I noticed they barely ask for documents asides from our international passports and gtb receipt. But I want to be sure about any other document I could come with for my interview.

Thanks

Please, I need an urgent advice. My cousin is graduating from USC on 12, and my uncle the dad want to send an invitation for us to attend. Five in number coz that's the maximum. Is there a way we can send the letter directly to the embassy.

Also one of the invitee was recently refused entry @POE coz they think he lied about her invitation, how do we approach this.

I respect this forum, I have seen this tread is very long, I don't know if the question has been answered b4, I will appreciate if any one can help again coz it's going to be difficult going Tru this thread page by page

Thanks

If it makes you feel comfortable to bring an armload of documents, go ahead. They will not be examined.

Hello Erleo1986. Which forum do you respect? Because you've posted this question in a couple places. Careful readers of this forum will know that consular officers do not look at invite letters--they don't factor into an applicant's qualifications at all.
The visa only gives the holder the ability to request entry at the border. It is up to Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) to decide whether to allow entry and for how long.
The port of entry interviews are typically even shorter than the visa interviews, and the vast majority of people are let through. A recent media report cited CPB figures showing that about 1% of Nigerians are turned around. People that are turned around typically have their visa cancelled, so they will have to get a new visa if they want to enter the US. In those cases, the applicant will have to explain what happened at the border. Some individuals are "expeditiously removed," meaning they will have five-year bans on entry to the US.

Hello gboyegz. The visa is valid for the purpose you describe. It's possible CBP will ask why you didn't travel as you stated at the interview. Answer truthfully.

Dear VO, Thanks for all your advices on this thread. i have just received my new passport reflecting my new surname( changed due to marriage). the question now is that i, my husband and daughter are due to renew our US Visa ( which was 2years and expired in January 2017). that i used for vacation as well as childbirth. Please are we eligible for dropbox renewal? if yes, do i attach my old passport with the new passport? do i also include my zero balance receipt from my childbirth?. Please advice me accordingly. Thank you so much.

Hello Diapearl. The name change is a change to your identity, so you need to come in to reestablish that with fingerprints and an interview.
