Me: was searching for admission and I also started working in a cafe to get more used to computers which is my passion from childhood
Vo: how many schools did you apply to
Me: 3 and I named them
Vo: is it just this school that has given you admission
Me: yes, for now
Vo: I can see you have an on housing scholarship how did you get that
Me: it's given to international students that merits it in the school, the school saw my high school results and felt I merit it

It was just God's grace and mercy, anyone that feels God is not involved in visa issuance is just... Well I've learnt to trust God over the years. Canada delayed me twice and with my Virgin passport and first time at the US embassy God gave me this visa. No documents was asked, not even the name of my school or why I chose it. All I can say is thank you Jesus and God bless everyone on this thread.

VO: How much is your monthly income

VO: Why is your wife not coming with you
ME: My wife is not coming with me because of her job, she is a banker and currently focusing on growing her career. Besides, we dont see any reason why she should come with me since I have plans to be visiting Nigeria whenever the school is on break.

VO: Sorry your Visa is not approved.... Gave me 214b

My concerns: I noticed she asked me questions about where my spouse lives, although they visited US earlier this year and they are back since Feb 25th.

When I checked her i94 status there was no depature date on her form. Could it be the VO is doubting if they are still in the US?

Your contribution would be highly appreciated.

I don't think it has anything to do with her departure. Please see what 214b is in the quote below.
"What does a visa denial under INA section 214(b) mean?

This law applies only to nonimmigrant visa categories. If you are refused a visa under section 214(b), it means that you:

Did not sufficiently demonstrate to the consular officer that you qualify for the nonimmigrant visa category you applied for; and/or
Did not overcome the presumption of immigrant intent, required by law, by sufficiently demonstrating that you have strong ties to your home country that will compel you to leave the United States at the end of your temporary stay. (H-1B and L visa applicants, along with their spouse and any minor children, are excluded from this requirement.)
What are considered strong ties to my home country?

Ties are the various aspects of your life that bind you to your home country. Strong ties vary from country to country, city to city, and person to person, but examples include:

Your job;
Your home; and/or
Your relationships with family and friends.
While conducting visa interviews, consular officers look at each application individually and consider the applicant's circumstances, travel plans, financial resources, and ties outside of the United States that will ensure the applicant’s departure after a temporary visit.

Is a refusal under section 214(b) permanent?

No. A refusal, or ineligibility, under section 214(b) is for that specific application, so once a case is closed, the consular section cannot take any further action. There is no appeal process. If you feel there is additional information that should be considered related to the visa decision, or there are significant changes in your circumstances since your last application, you may reapply for a visa. To reapply, you must complete a new application form, pay the application fee, and schedule an appointment for a new interview. Review the website of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you plan to reapply to learn about any reapplication procedures."

I'm a very genuine student o. i even intend switching to a course in the IT sector but he insisted that if i really want to get a job immediately i graduate then i should switch to nursing, warriboy also mentioned something like this in this thread that's the major reason I want to switch to nursing because I want to stay behind after i graduate from any program in the US.

A good reason you shouldn't listen to hearsays..I would stick to EE if I were you. If you are a permanent resident or US citizen, you can go for Nursing or whatever course you want. You have lots of post-graduation opportunities with your MS in EE.

From my own point of view....its possible that when the VO looked up your wife 194, like you said there was no departure date, i would conclude that your wife was still in US. maybe thats why the VO asked why your wife not coming with you. Like a nairalander said earlier on, fix the I94 stuff and apply again.....

VO: Okay, why Kansas State

VO: Have you travelled before.
Me: No, never had reasons to

VO: what is your highest qualification

VO: Your Visa has been approved (returned I-20 and handed me the white paper) this form tells you how to pick up your passport (handed me another paper) and this describes how you enter the United State as a student. Congrats and enjoy your stay in the US.

PS: Information is power and will like prospective students to put in the time and effort into preparing/writing tests, searching for schools, writing statements etc. The process might look long but it's worth it.
