the only defeat the usa experienced in Mogadishu was the PR mess the issue generated. In terms of available casualty, the Somalis lost more than 3000 fighters as against the few navy seals that were killed and the aircrafts that were shutdown, and it wasn't even an outright war, it was meant to be a surgical extraction but things quickly spiralled out of control.

The only all out war America has been involved in since the civil war is actually world 1 and 2 other than that every other war has then protecting women and children and the same time fighting home grown resistance against the the war. Now you can't rate that kind of war based on success or failure.

Only fools will want easy victory in war but you just can't engage in full blown war with the United States I hate to say that but it's not advisable.

the opposite was the case, the media blew everything out of proportion which made the civilian population mount overwhelming pressure on the government, which lead to the withdrawal of the american troops. you couldn't have defined your ignorance in fewer words! and the money is spent on R & D, not acquisitions as to acquire hardware, there has to be superior hardware outside the U.S which just isn't the case, the U.S are currently the platinum standard in military hardware and the trillions they spend is to prepare for wars of the future fought with virtual and/or android soldiers at the push of a button and that's why China for all their manpower are still wary of the U.S and are trying to modernize their military by reducing its manpower as that would soon be redundant and left to third world countries
