I'm all for a simplified tax code. As it is done in other countries, we should not be spending more than 10 mins filing our taxes.

But I'm vehemently against corporate welfare, and huge tax breaks for multi-billion $$ corporations. The bulk of the tax cuts should go to typical small and medium-scale businesses and individuals earning under $90,000/yr.

This Republican tax plan is not tax reform it is an unashamed tax giveaway to the wealthy all in the tradition of Reagan and George W. Bush.
Real deal Republican tax reform is when Republicans take something away (like Social Security) from the middle-class to pay for the 1% tax cut. Now that's a reform they would be proud of. You gotta luv the endangered middle-class who vote to put the welfare of the 1% above the welfare of their families.

Wow--give the biggest tax cut to 1% when we have the highest debt in our history... a debt caused by bad wall street practices that enriched the 1% and robbed all the rest of us, and foreign wars that also enriched the companies of the 1%. And get rid of the Alternative Minimum Tax which would leave so many 1% (like Trump himself!) paying nearly nothing? This is immoral and absurd.

The poison pills are the elimination of the estate tax and the AMT. These are giveaways to the wealthy that they do not need, and will hurt revenue without any worthy economic impact.

From a personal standpoint, I like this proposal because it should benefit me financially. However, from the country's perspective, it's likely to explode the debt. I'm sure Republicans have already decided they can blame soaring deficits from their tax cut on Democrats, assuming a Democrat replaces Trump in 2020.

Your top marginal tax rate comes down to 15%, you can claim everything including your transport and food and entertainment expenses. The bottom line is that Trikle Down Economics doesn't work. It never worked during the time of Reagan, George Bush Snr and George Bush Jnr. It's not going to work this time too because trump is selling the whole farm to give hundreds of billions of dollars to his oligarchic friends while overwhelming majority of Americans in the Middle Class will get crumps. It will shoot the deficit into stratosphere and there will be no infrastructural upgrade because there will be no money for the upgrades. It's just like Nigeria Government giving huge tax breaks to the likes of Dangote, Adenuga, Otedola and other Billionaires while giving Crumbs to Middle Class people making Naira 100.000 to 200.000.
