When I debate with theists on this forum, most of their replies seem to implicitly suggest that trying to convince them away from their religious beliefs through tools no other that reason and honesty discuss, is sort of a waste of time, as if my tenable arguments aren't compelling enough to spur anyone to rethink their religious beliefs. I also see similar allusive responses when I read other arguments between theists and atheists. So my reason for creating this thread isn't just to prove to both Christians and Muslims that the efforts of atheists to enlighten theists about the flaws in their belief system isn't in vain, but also to create a rare opportunity for people to testify about how they questioned and abandoned their religious beliefs just by reading compelling and persuasive arguments by people on this forum. If anyone isn't comfortable testifying with their main monikers, probably due to fears about public perception, he or she can create another account just for this purpose. People need to know that honest dialogue and civil debate is powerful enough to change minds. When you have endless spate of attacks against atheism by winner01 , you have to start acknowledging the existence of God . That's the rational thing to do : www.nairaland.com/winner01/topics 2 Likes 3 Shares |

I had my doubts about religion. Reading Nairaland debates/arguments especially Hardmirror and Lennycool made me embrce it, made me become more confident with my ideology and belief (lack thereof) 7 Likes 2 Shares |

dalaman: Big fat lie . You used the oldest dirtiest chicanery the atheists use here : pose as a christian for a while and then claim the debates made you have a rethink Just like the one we exposed here : https://www.nairaland.com/3299206/exposed-atheist-truthman83-lied-deceived 6 Likes 3 Shares |

KingEbukasBlog: Winner01' always claims that the is this merciful, powerful, just and good God that will protect, guide and protect those that believe in him. Next he goes around creating topics about how atheist kill tens of millions of people including believers while his God constantly fails to do anything but allow them to be killed, molested and brutalized. Is there a good God that protects people or not? Will you as a father alow someone to kill you children and stop them from doing what you ask them to do? The evil in the world is more than enough evidence to show that the christian God does not exist. |

I became agnostic by reading Muslim vs Christian debates on nairaland. but before nairaland I was already having doubts about Christianity. so I started searching for the right religion and God and it led me to agnosticism. 2 Likes 1 Share |

dalaman: The fact that we still have debates about whether something (Christian god) exists that's supposed to be everywhere and can do anything and loves me and wants a relationship with me and etc already tells me such a thing doesn't exist "Hey, I want a relationship with you, and demand all your love and devotion! Just don't expect me to show up, or call, or send a letter, or a birthday card, or put any effort in to demonstrating that I even exist (like your Canadian girlfriend). That's because you're not worthy of my love, so ... yeah ... get crackin' on that devotion to me." By this description, god is identical to the girls in the ads on porn sites looking for a guy to screw. And both are equally nonexistent But we can never be quite sure. That's why both are still in business The existence of apologists strongly suggests the non-existence of gods There are no apologists for the sun. Nobody needs to spin flimsy-as-cobwebs arguments for the existence of the sun. That's because every day we're bombarded with evidence for it at the speed of light. And not just evidence of its existence, but intimate information about its innermost workings. The sun seems big to us, but it's actually a tiny speck lost in a whirlpool galaxy of 200 billion other stars, which is lost in a vast sea of countless billions of other galaxies. Yet for this insignificant speck, we have an abundance of very useful evidence, but for a claim that is far bigger and more elaborate than all those galaxies put together, ...all we have are the arguments of apologists. 11 Likes 2 Shares |
