Prostitution is becoming a huge problem here in Ethiopia, especially in Addis. It's believed that there are about 150,000 prostitutes in Addis alone.

I live in a town called Bole and when ever it becomes darker, you will see lots of prostitutes in line. When someone sometimes steer at them, some of them will say "what are you looking at? Don't you think this is a job!"

They had very detailed plans and had a secret standby deal with a big Italian contractor to begin work at literally moments notice. Anybody who understands big infrastructure projects knows that it takes months to mobilise large equipment. These guys did it within days! How, i really don't know. The masterstroke in timing came about because the construction started smack in the middle of the Arab Spring in Cairo when there was no stable govt and i think el Sisi wasnt sworn in yet. Total confusion reigned in Cairo. and Addis Ababa pounced on the chance and people woke up the next morning to the sight of huge machines and 5,000+ men very busy going about their work. Genius!

There is a long legend that goes back to the times of Menelik I who apparently arm twisted the pharaohs by telling them he would cut off the Nile waters if he didn't get gold.
