Muafrika2:Yup. Ethiopia will sell most of the power generated there through the East African Power Pool . There is another series of very very tall dams called the Gibe I,II and III dams on the Omo River in southern ethiopia. A more controversial one because it shall surely dry up Lake Turkana. These shall also be producing alot of MWs and mostly to be sold to Kenya. Kenya - Ethiopia trade will boom in the next 5 years and our major import will be electricity. 2 Likes |

fanficgirl: In Africa, only the married and middle aged women work very hard. Most young gilrs and women of today especially in the Urban settings always feel that there is a way out by using their bodies to make ends meet. Can't you see the rate at which many young African women have turned relationships and marriage to their boyfriends, fiancés, husbands to poverty alleviation schemes?? |

fanficgirl: Yes and it is better this way. It at least shows that they have some fear and respect for the citizens of their country. If not, tell me, how can you loot my country's wealth and still flaunt this wealth to my face by making it official? That's like making a caricature of the masses and it's like a message saying ''Hey, i don't give a damnn about what you think about me and how i run the country or misappropriate the funds''. This is exactly what happens in african countries like Kenya, Angola and many others. 2 Likes |

gallivant: Now tell me, what the fucck do you think Nigerians give about a dam in East Africa? How will that ever affect our daily lives? Will it change the fact that East Africa and Central Africa are still the poorest regions of Africa and the ones dragging us behind? Will the dam help to civilize and integrate the millions of uncivilized tribes in East Africa used for tourist purposes to further denigrate the black race to the outside world? Will the dam help to stabilize the war torn nations of South Sudan and Somalia? Dangote (Africa's richest man) is building the largest singe refinery in the world and the largest in Africa (to be finished next year), in Nigeria and this would create Jobs for almost 1 million people. This is what am more concerned about or at least would be shameful if i knew nothing about. 1 Like |

If Nigerians know about the Dam in Ethiopia it is OK but it is by no means necessary. What concerns us with faraway East African countries? We don't share culture or history or even future aspirations so why should we be that bothered about what happens in your countries? To be honest we here are more concerned about what is happening in our numerous states which are wide enough to exhaust our attention that we cannot spare much for people we have little in common with. Painful but true. 1 Like |

Maduawuchukwu: uzzyfire: I have looked up to the dam, yes the dam would be a wonderful project, at least, anything to develop Africa would be celebrated by all Africans, but i wonder why a Kenyan would feel it is mandatory for a Nigerian to know about this. The dam is to about 6,500 MW capacity. Nigeria has also been building the Kashimbilla dam in Taraba state which is about 4,000 MW capacity. It is said to be completed by this year, though i've not been hearing about it a while now. I also heard that Dangote's refinery will be able to generate 12,000 MW of electricity, what do u guys think about this? 1 Like |

Nowenuse:For real it is not worth it. She probably don't know the implication of the things, those small countries whom Nigeria had helped in the past financially and other aids. May be because @fancygirl,dont really know much hatred of these set of the people on this fora toward Nigerians, who are young men and hadn't read enough to know the worth of Nigeria. Their older generation will naturally know the truth. Cheers 2 Likes |

Maduawuchukwu:oh really . tell that to the hundreds of threads on nairaland started by nigerians posting fake news stories from blogs about kenya. a simple search on this site is enough to reveal how nigerians love badmouthing and talking about other african nations ,with a particular weird focus towards hoaxes and sex stories , there was even a particular month last year when threads about kenya would be on the front page of Nairaland almost every day, typical. 2 Likes |

Olu317:leave them let them be talking, especially Ghana and Kenya looolll do u know that if Nigeria wants to annex these countries, they will and nobody will say anything not even America or Britain? becos Nigerians are in Ghana na ythat just30 guy liver to talk. I won't blame all these small countries sha wat dey are duin is a natural thing wen a big brother becomes irresponsible, his little brothers loose respect for him and start trying to challenge him, not knowing that no matter how bad or useless he gets he's still their big brother and can kill them if he wants to |

@Nyaber Seun just puts up all those strories to get traffic. He knows that if he said those hoaxes and over-the-top events happened in Nigeria people will find out and kill it will affect the sites credibility so he goes to bring funny stories from other African countries from which Nigerians can confirm their veracity. That is one of the unfortunate things that came with the over-commercialisation of Nairaland. |
