/ I think the ones that made up their minds to migrate are not online soliciting for advice. They take a leap of faith and hope for the best. If your indecision is bc of advice from strangers online, then you are not ready yet. No system is perfect. There are disadvantages and advantages to migration. Everyone should weigh his/her options. You will run into happiness or regrets from migrants. If you have nothing to lose, why not try migration. \ 4 Likes |

I'm careful not to take issues of tangent. Relocating to any part of the world is a very complex agenda. Yet, if for economic benefits and security. Then do proper research, such as minimum wage comparison and average cost of getting a headstart in your new world. Don't be discouraged, life in itself anywhere you find yourself is equally as complicated. 2 Likes |

Mcowubaba: No, it's not. Once something is within a particular home domain, it's refereed to as "local". Same way the it would be correct for an American (while staying in Nigeria) to refer to a girls back home in the U S. as "local chicks". Not lecturing English o, just relating what I understand. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Lexusgs430:in the west yes if they work through agencies and are paid by the hour. but nigerians will keep housemaid in their house lol. if you keep the housemaid in your house you have to pay her for 24 hours or else thats slavery right ?. but yeah housemaids can earn higher than their employers if they work through agencies and charge by the hour. anytime i am in your house you pay me by the hour. if you want me to live with you then you pay me a reasonable salary like say 60 thousand dollars a year. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Living abroad is not for everybody. Coming illegally is a crime. Everyone can find a way to come legally if they are determined. I come from a very humble household; but I did the right thing education wise and I now live in the US and legally make over $200K a year. I would advise people to come here if they are ready to take the legal route which for me means acquiring the relevant skills and education. The American dream is alive and well people. I live it. 25 Likes 1 Share |

sukkot: Some people pay higher wages for the services of a housemaid. But the Nigerian mentality, is a combination of housemaid + nanny, on the cheapest possible wage bracket, but expect the best of services & no work enhancement benefits........ 3 Likes |

factwriter:Nah, I refuse your logic. An American while staying in Nigeria, don't ever refer to American girls back in USA as Local chicks. The name local chicks was structured by Nigerians in diaspora for Our Nigerian girls resident in Nigeria. Don't lie to yourself, anyway no need to overstretch this. Adios! 3 Likes |

Lexusgs430:exactly lol. nigerians are exploiters. they are all slave-masters. they run away from nigeria to live abroad because of oppression but when they get abroad they become oppressors themselves. even the ones in nigeria are worse. you see them with 10 year old maids just wasting their lives away looking after their children or cleaning up after them. like dont they feel bad that they are wasting another human beings life ? chai black man and wickedness sha 13 Likes 3 Shares |

sukkot: And how does "charging by the hour, or minutes" exonerate that person from being accused of slavery. Do you know what slavery is? Do you have any idea how many of these so called "house girls" have built mansions here in Nigeria while graduates, artisans, and technicians can't even feed themselves Three times in a day? One of the greatest disadvantage with Migrating to West is that you guys lose touch with realities of your motherland. You become sucked into a system that (though will never accept you fully) it still alter and destroy your possibilities of a successful reintegration back into your homeland at the tail end of your sojourn. Well this doesn't apply to the Hausas anyway. They are an exceptional tribe when it comes to protecting ethnical originality and values. 2 Likes |

factwriter:because if you have me in your house for 24 hours and you pay me 10 dollars per hour, then thats 240 dollars a day. thats not slavery. but if you have me in your house 24 hours and you are not paying me for the extra hours ? then thats slavery. you are just wasting my time and wasting my life. its that simple. time is money. 8 Likes 1 Share |
