Lexusgs430:Egusi is a local dish in Nigeria. Egusi is also local/African dish in NY. Yah logic still don't apply It's of Public knowledge ad perception that Nigerian girls are called Local chicks by Nigerians in Diaspora. An amazing fact, a girl who stays in the Rural part of Nigeria is even considered to be a local chick by a Girl who stays in the Urban part of Nigeria. Like a girl residing in Mbano Village in Owerri, Imo State is seen mostly as a local girl by people who are resident in Ikoyi, Lagos . Anyways, we agree to disagree |

Another big issue is what mentality will Nigerians have when they arrive in wonderland. Nigeria is a dysfunctional entity and breeds a dysfunctional mindset. Are the new arrivals willing to re-set their brains to change in a positive manner. Seen many naija people travel abroad and continue with their 'do or die' mindset and end up in a tight situation. The reason you want to leave is deeper than skin deep. 6 Likes |

.I recall over 10 years ago or so..one of my childhood friend goes to U.K for holiday (den traveling abroad was like a mirage to me).He would say...if one can get a good job..make good money that abroad is not really necessary. ..u may go for hols though. I recall telling him that some B.S,that he goes yearly...comes back looking fresh and brings designer for boys when he comes back.I said..mi too I Wan go there o ...any thing dem dey endure there. .mi too go like go endure am.fast forward few years later, found myself living abroad and I was offering the same advice to another friend who wanted to come over to study with d intention of staying permanently afterwards ,my friend replied "u are abroad enjoying, telling me that with a good job I do not need to travel abroad",then he asked,"where are d good jobs in Naija?".Since that day i do not offer that advise anymore to anyone planning to travel abroad cos the perspective of both parties are just different. The thing is you have to be abroad to really understand why pple offer such advise.it doesn't mean everyone offering such advise is suffering o......If u are unemployed. ..staying at home and nothing is happening for you...you are welcome(u av nothing to lose after all but everything to gain). If u have a job that pays u good income ("good income iz relative though,it up to u to decide what is good and otherwise?).weigh your options well o...before quiting your job and uprooting your family.....and plan/talk to peeps that are already in d country u heading to on how things are and what u need to do to secure a job in your field (most times ur naija qualifications alone might not cut it).best of luck 7 Likes |

Ralphlauren:The company only rented a place for him. The rent would be deducted 100% from his salary. Aspa the car...its just a company car..nothing more. Most companies here give trucks too especially if you work in engineering, but it is still the property of the company. Even fueling the car would be billed to companies credit card. |

sukkot:Lool You're right in that maids here do not live in someone else's house 24/7. At most, a nanny could work 40 - 45 hrs per week. Now, if the maid is paid minimum wage i.e. $7.25/hr, then you'd have to pay the nanny between $1,160 to $1,305 per month. That's a huge bill to pay for nanny services, when the average monthly middle class income in the US is no more than $4500. Daycare is even more expensive. A friend of mine once told me that his other friend shells out about $2k every month for the daughter's daycare. And you can't forget those student loan payments. This country is really an expensive place to live in. 2 Likes |

Pidgin2: Aunty, u re trying to win this argument. Yes Dia re slums all over but in Nigeria, who's not begging? Tell me? If davido passes ur street. Even the so called big boys defile same to go pick scrubs. We re a bleeped nation. No hiding it. Am expecting my visa. Nigeria is dead. Imagine I lost my job over a year ago, decided to run my masters with my savings while I wait. Almost all Nija uni rejected me. I applied to Australia and germany. Even when ppl wia still waiting for admission on NL. I got already cos of my job experience. I started a laundry bushiness to keep me busy. I got tired of taxing my banner, my extension, my sales, may handwork. Exuberant power bill with less supply. At d end of the day, all I was doing for a year was just suffering to feed. I could not read cos I needed time to work. No more friends cos I needed time to work. No more sleep cos I needed time to work. Couldn't take care of myself cos I needed time to work. Babe. Ask me for 5k. I swear I can't afford it. Nija is a case study. Difficult come easy go. 10 Likes |

Well making it differs depending on the individual but a typical Nigerians sees being successful as having lots of dough. Now I want anyone here to give me names of Nigeria who went to the United States that is worth just $1 million today. I also want names of Nigerians born in the United States who were able to save a mere $500,000 in 401k after 30 years of hard labor. This is 2017 and success is for those who choose to embrace reality instead of some kid fantasy 10 Likes |

bebe2: Don't know about any WINTER, SPRING, FALL, AUTUMN, SUMMER, or even any HARMATTAN disorder. SAD is sad. As in the simple sentence "That boy is sad". The stage (mood) of not being happy or joyful. which is referred to as SAD is considered SEASONAL. It is also regarded as AFFECTIVE since it erupted from within a person while finally it's abnormal nature marks it as a DISORDER. I got that explanation from a BBC Radio program way back in the early Nineties. 1 Like |
