austinvsb1: Even on this one I'm with Buhari, though I disagree with some of his policies. Do you know that when Buhari assumed office he nearly canceled the recruitment of about 500 cadet officers because of its lopsided nature? Cross River and AkwaIbom had over a hundred cadets then when states like Kano, Jigawa struggles with 5 and 6. It is only fair if he refuses to cancel that recruitment and tries to neutralize the anomaly with this one. I have been following things as they unfold in the country, I condemn the condemnable and support the good ones. |

Everybody is talking about federal character .Wake up!!! There's nothing like that in Nigeria. What we have is a QUOTA SYSTEM that will continue to take Nigeria back to the middle ages. This people even with their privileged positions cannot think outside the box or improve in their educational qualifications. A Yoruba man in such positions will continue to study and get more part-time qualifications to improve. Just take a look at president Buhari? Apart from War College certificate, this man has got no sound educational background. He just sat down there in daura waiting for when bamboos and dogs will be soaked in blood!!! Absolutely nothing!Even Former president olushegun Obasanjo went back to school after his tenure!!! |

The good thing is threads like these open everyone's eyes to what exactly is going on in this country. Meanwhile, ask what they contribute to the country? Terrorism, alms begging, Underaged marriage and so on. |

persius555: They were lopsided in favour of the south but the context and that of the entire Jonathan regime was to give those people a sense of belonging after decades of neglect. If the north feels it has to catch up after controlling and dominating the governance of Nigeria since independence then it is a pity. I repeat. Jonathan was there for only 5 years, even Buhari alone will soon match that timespan not to talk of Yaradua, Abacha, Murtala and all the others who did this exact thing over 40 years. What they do does not represent a fundamental change in direction but a return to the status quo of lopsided northern dominance. Only restructuring can save this country. |

malware: No. You correct errors. You don't deepen, complicate or escalate them. Because if you do where does it end and how will it engender trust in your other policies and programs like the famed anti-corruption war. So will they also steal to make it 'even'. Like I said earlier the north is not politically or demographically disadvantaged. There is no need for them to seek their already dominant position in government at all levels accumulated over 30 years of rule. |

malware: Mister, it is highly plausible for recruitments to be dominated by Southerners in a fair process because your region is extremely backward educationally. In the private sector, the core north are nonentities and you can't compete. In the civil service and military, it becomes quota, quota, quota, federal character, quota,....blah blah. This reminds me of the PRESSID scholarship for graduates looking to sponsor citizens abroad that was scrapped under Buhari because your backward region in the core north couldn't produce a single successful candidate by merit in consecutive years out of hundreds of awarded scholarships. Then your bitter legislators scrapped the commendable program because they were trying to introduce quota as usual. It didn't occur to their empty heads that scholarships are supposed to reward academic excellence and not be subject to quotas. How will this country ever move forward with you parasites dragging the rest of us down with your backwardness? 3 Likes 1 Share |

LordVoldemort: First off, I agree we can use the word 'military' in this context to loosely mean any kind of security work whatsoever. But I don't quite understand your question. (a)...more suited as in which make better military (b)...more suited as in who takes orders better (c)...more suited as in who has more right to be (as an aside, I would ask, if you open your facebook feed and see an article headlined: white soldier says white men make better soldiers, what would be your comment?) My response below is based on interpretation (a) above If what I'm thinking you're insinuating is what you're actually insinuating, then, I would beg you to rebuke such delusion. Northerners don't make better military men any more than Southerners. True Nigeria won the civil war but it wasn't because they had 'more military-suited' Northerners in their ranks. We all know the Northerners have been trying to Lord it over everyone else in this country from the word go. They may have more numbers in the military but isn't nepotism the subject of our exchange? Then again, let's assume you're correct and that Northerners make better military, then, why not just do away with the Southerners altogether? Still we can attribute the presence of Southerners to affirmative action. We want no affirmative action nor nepotism. Just make everything clear as egg white. Don't equate brutality with military ability. When I was young we used to call them 'wicked hausa soldiers' and we thought them the best of soldiers. But now I know better. A brutal soldier is not necessarily the most brutal soldier. Now I'd play. I'd ask that while you're at it, you would do well to tell me which people is more civil/intelligent. Also tell me, ceteris paribus, in your book, which you would prefer in a soldier: civility/intelligence or brutality? I think one of these can be learned; the other, not so much. |

Obi1kenobi: Lolz for your information, I did my masters and phd under ptdf scholarship. And in all the two cases, northerners far outnumbered southerners on the lists because they couldn't defend their God forsaken certificates... . I don't know the competence you are talking about. I swear to almighty Allah that majority of southerners are not intelligent. I once worked with a private firm called Huawei Technologies and I saw how uselessly dull most southerners are. I agree with you that you guys are ahead of us in terms of enrollment, but when we enroll, we always distinguish ourselves. The fact that the richest man in Africa is an Hausa man should at least tell you something. |

malware: You must be a liar or you didn't get any PTDF scholarship. Else, you'd know it's based on Federal character with quotas and your claim to outnumbering Southerners is a concocted fantasy. Distinguish my arse. How many "distinguished" members of Nigeria's intellectual class (technocrats, academics, renowned authors, tech entrepreneurs, legal minds etc) do you produce. Any of Ogun or Anambra alone could probably easily name more renowned intellectuals than the whole core North combined. All your top schools like ABU and Bayero basically produce are politicians, and a figure like Sanusi is a great rarity. Keep kidding yourself too about Dangote. Pretty much all your wealthiest men (the likes of Dangote, Dantata, Indimi, Danjuma and an army of politicians and ex-generals) are basically oligarchs who have cultivated the right relationships in Nigeria's corridors of power and amassed wealth and influence. It's a common thing in resource-rich, corrupt countries like Nigeria and Russia. Dangote is no Warren Buffet or Bill Gates. He's Nigeria's version of Abramovich. 4 Likes |

malware: Fabricated story?!! Dude are you fvcking kidding me?? I was born up North, and I worked particularly in the North East ( Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, and Bauchi). You illiteracy rate is TOTALLY ALARMING. Diseases that have been eradicated down south (polio) are still prevalent up north. Your poverty level is the highest in the country. Thanks to you illiteracy, your people find it extremely difficult to reason AT ALL. That's what your leaders have always wanted. Yet your region has ruled this country, wrecking it for FORTY PLUS YEARS. I've seen examples of your region's ineptitude & incompetence play out in the Police. Incompetent Northern officers automatically get rapid promotions and plush postings while better educated and tactically sound officers stagnate or are relegated to career killing postings during the military era. No wonder a lot of Northern military officers failed their promotion exams during the OBJ era. |
