This is a video on how to moisturise the hair properly. She just used water, a leave in conditioner and shea butter. She did the LOC Method, probably because she has HIGH porosity hair, so people with medium and low porosity should use lighter oils instead of shea butter And those with low porosity hair should apply according to the LCO method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reCHnVkgcXg 1 Like |

Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 3:58pm On Apr 27, 2017 |
AgbenuAnna: Awww your hair looks so soft lol and the low cut really fits you. I don't think you have to do much for now, since it's still short. Just get an oil (e.g sunflower oil, jojoba oil, olive etc because they are not too heavy/too light, which is perfect for medium porosity hair ) and apply when your hair is damp. A little goes a long way I think that's enough for now |

Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 8:33am On Apr 29, 2017 |
Nikita1: Oh dreads can really be cool but I don't have the balls to do that I always ask myself what if I don't like it, does that mean I have to cut ALL my hair off and start over again |
Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 9:47am On Apr 29, 2017 |
lovelygurl:just get the right stylist. A lady is already on my list. She's doing it 20k because she's expensive and well known for it. Can't wait to have it on my head. Just like ASA. Main reason for my big chop but will wait a year to have it because I don't like it short |

Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 1:50am On Apr 30, 2017 |
My natural hair gives me too much wahala. lovelygurl:Locs/dreads really are cool. lovelygurl:If you don't like them there're ways to unloc your hair but you will get a lot of breakage and shedding in the process. Sometimes it could be impossible to undo the locs and yes, in that case, the only solution, if you don't want them anymore, is to cut them off and start over. Most black women who loc their hair however, typically stick with it for years, so there's no such thing as not liking them and wanting to cut them off. People who cut off their dreads/locs only do so after years of loc'ing their hair - when they're once again ready for a new change in their life. Though the beginning stages of locs can be uncomfortable, once they start getting longer they look awesome. |

Wow this is awesome...enjoyed going tru this thread...nice work u are doing I wanna transition, does combing my hair all the time affect the transitioning... |
Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 8:29am On Apr 30, 2017 |
tzjaynee:If you want to transition, do a protective style that'll prevent constant combing. Too much combing will cause your hair to weaken or break at the line of demarcation (the meeting point of your relaxed ends and budding natural hair). |
Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 10:43am On Apr 30, 2017 |
NotOfThis: Yeah I read about that too, that some dreads aren't permanent and if a professional helps unlocking them, there wouldn't be a lot of breakage Who knows maybe me and Nikita1 might be rocking dreads very soon About your natural hair giving you too much wahala loool. Think that's normal but when the curls and growth and healthiness start popping, you'll feel like a proud mama whose child is now a millionaire (Ok maybe hair and being millionaire are not comparable but you get what I mean ) |
Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 10:53am On Apr 30, 2017 |
tzjaynee: NotOfThis has said it all, all I have to add is finger detangling is the best. It takes time but causes less breakage and if you want to use a comb, use a WIDE TOOTH comb. When I first started transitioning I used those small combs and literally saw all my hair falling out and it was very painful Oh and comb, when your hair is damp and moisturised because it's way easier and causes less breakage Good luck on you transition journey. Still transitioning too, can't wait to do the big chop. I don't have the liver to cut it yet, I want it to reach at least my shoulder |

Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 11:35am On Apr 30, 2017 |
So since we now know the basic things/information, we will be talking about protective styles, diys (you know for conditioners, leave in, gels etc) and also some history about out hair. You are of course free to ask/answer questions, share your diys or products that worked very well for your hair, in order to help each other. Also protective styles that you love and if you want to share your hair journey story/pics, you are free to do that. This is NOT my thread, this is OUR thread because I don't know it all myself. We are here to learn from each other, just like a 'natural hair community' 1 Like

Twisted updo 1) Look we want to achieve 2) Part your front hair from 1 ear to the other 3)Part it in a side line and bond it 4) Now part the rest of the hair (the back hair) in the middle 1 Like 1 Share

Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 11:58am On Apr 30, 2017 |
5) Bond one part of it 6) Twist/Weave it and then the other 7) Tuck the ends into each other to create an "u form" 8 ) Twist the front hair in many twists 1 Like 1 Share

Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Nobody: 12:04pm On Apr 30, 2017 |
9) Arrange the twists in a way you like and make sure the ends meet at the back, in the middle 10) Then tuck it in and pin it down 11) Add gel you the edges to lay it down 12) End result 1 Share
