komekn: Most sensible post i have read. All I have been reading is just silly rhetorics....if u made it, others can do. What happened to u may not happen to others, every man has a different head. Non of my family members have ever discouraged me from immigrating (US particularly). In fact they have been encouraging me to come being single. Yes they sound it to u how it ain't easy at first but will still nake it clear that u can make it if u determine to....don't use others as ur yard stick. Many Nigerians go there and are carried away easily by the seemingly good life, a total contrast of what they experienced back home and before they know it, they have lost it entirely while their mates havr gone far. all u see here silly horrible stories, well u survived, others can do. Its mindset and focus. I personally have not made the decision not like i don't have the means. But i hate all this silly stories of how i slept in library how i did this and that, i mean even in Nigeria don't u go tru hell to make it. If they all survived why can't others? I only doscourage people trying to go illegally like crossing borders or tru other illegal means, but if u have legal means and actually get in legally...well whatever ur choice is after getting in legally, is your cup of tea. Your assertion is the best i read here. 8 Likes 1 Share |

While i would not encourage anyone to take the illegal route in going abroad, i am very well aware of the fact that life is much more organised over there than in naija. I know alot of professionals living and working in the US, and they are doing very fine both financially, career satisfaction and life generally. One of them is a dentist. That guy perhaps could be the richest Nigerian trained dentist. None of his colleagues practicing in Nigeria can measure up to him. Nigeria is a jungle where everything is upside down. Sane minds find it hard to cope here because insanity is the order of the day here. 9 Likes 1 Share |

@sukkot,salford etc the pro negative abroad is bad mindset..Am not saying your wrong..all I have to say you all have a negative mind set to some extent..yes an average Nigerian has that mind set and you carried it over and that's what's is affecting you...cause 'wealth is of the mind" or better yet as a man thinks in his HEART so he is...Don't tell me this nation isn't a hell hole..because I know better...3 months after graduating in Nigeria here I got a job..in short thus far my cv is fairly decent...Am here in Ghana for holiday and I've seen that life in Nigeria is low life..irrespective of the class you belong to and pls remember that Ghana is not a developed nation... Don't tell me a decent hardworking man, that comes legally won't make it there bro...I know better for in life like attracts like..if there's something wrong with the fruit, check the tree, the soil there is decent at least better than here..so what say ye? Nigeria is growing but it's growing backwards. In summary what am saying is if one wishes to come work, legally and have some compensation and some BASIC human desires meet, don't tell me he can't especially when you have survived the jungle called Lagos.. Some one did the maths of Maybe a cleaner who earns 20usd per hr (not sure )but it was for menial job..and came up with 150k per week...you know people who earn such in Nigeria?..cooperate guys and I mean per month in niaja oo 6 Likes 1 Share |

4dor: My brother...people don't understand everyone has a different head. There are people that goes and just have it all easy like magic...there are some that will suffer and suffer well before hitting it, there are some that will never hit it. Its all about your head...your focus, your determination. See them all sounding like back in Nigeria...u don't suffer too to make it. The difference is suffer different suffer. 2 Likes |

I will encourage anyone if given the opportunity to travel to go no matter what you hear do research and save enough then go You will only enjoy life when you see things for yourself I've lived abroad and it gave me a global perspective that may confuse the typical miopic mind. America is a nation that teaches others self dependence meaning you will learn how to be self reliant and honestly you will understand our true problem here and we are indeed selfish. I came back for musical inspiration lots of amazing sights and sounds here at home Go anywhere your heart takes you but never forget where you come from 9 Likes |

AreaFada2: I thinK the point most folks here are making is that despite the hard life overseas, at least you get the opportunity to work or hustle legally or illegally and send money back home. Life is damn tough here ...but opportunities to make good money here in Nigeria is great. Too many areas of work needing skilled workers. |

solasoulmusic: Nice one, bro. Living abroad sort of opens your eye to see the problems of Nigeria: selfishness! We have community leaders and political leaders without vision.. Buffoons in charge. Community roads in every state are bad. Can't the LG or state govt mandate house owners to pave with interlocking blocks on the road in front on their houses. If I build a house and pave the road in front of my house, and my neighbors do the same, we'll have good road for every one. On FP this morning Amechi commissioning the dredging of Onitsha -Ajaokuta waterway, can't he make it a standard water way for traders to transport goods from Onitsha to the north? He could encourage the road transporters to invest in ships for the inland waterways... This would in turn creat jobs and development. |

koboko69: I don't care how you or anybody sees it. If you feel bad or good after reading this, it's your business. Let's stop deluding ourselves with my head is different your head is... It baffles and pains me to see my fellow Nigerians walking towards a death or destiny-changing trap and i am trying to save you from falling as victim but only for you to be feel bad about my advice... The truth is destiny has got nothing to do with this anymore. Back in the days, destiny play a role through loopholes in the immigration system but after September 9/11 terror attack against US, everything has drastically changed in US and UK. Frankly speaking, if anybody under the sun even the British high commission says anything contrary to what about to write below, which i doubt, i ll advise you to run for your life cos it seems you are about to be swindled by 419ners. First and foremost, atleast 98% immigration loopholes in UK are gone and gone for life. As i type this, you only have 5 options to regularise yourself and the 5 options are back-breaking journey that ll change your life for d rest of time on earth. The options are: 1) As student-10years route 2) Marriage-10years route 3) Parents-10years route 4) Illegal immigrants-20years route 5)Tier-HSMP These 5 routes are really tough, life-changing and back-breaking. Number 1 and 5 ll give you immigration legal status in UK if you are granted one while the remaining three are even tougher than the first favourable routes Extra years are added to those years if you r lucky but if you are not, you are doomed. 1- Being a student gives you a legal immigration status in U.K. Or US but comes with a lot financial hurdles. Let me face UK precisely, you can only become a UK resident through this student route after spending 10years of legal immigration status in UK. Each year ll cost you around £12,000(#6.5million) as international student. Let's now multiply #6.5m by 10 years and the result is about #65million. However, UK has change their law, if you are a student, after 8years in UK, no college or university ll accept your application again. You ll need to travel back to your home country to apply again which means your first 8years in the country is gone out of the window. You are literally starting all over again. 2nd option is Marriage, I am sure that you won't start dating someone right from Heathrow in London. You ll still need to settle down for atleast 6months before getting a girlfriend who has legal immigration status which has to be either British citizen or permanent resident/indefinite leave to remain in UK. It ll take you couple of months if not years to get to know each other before bringing your immigration issue on the table cos you don't want to be seen as a desperado. With all this, you are looking at 2years to get to that comfy zone where you both can agree to put application through. After that decision, you ll need two years of being together as couple in your evidence to Home Office. If you are lucky... Tired. I come back 4 Likes |
