HCpaul: Who told u dat? R u denying the power of God or what? What's the essence of preaching and praying if on ur own u can achieve all these. However, what matters is the interest and motive of the so called men of God. Most of them are serving their selfish interest abandoning d real assignment Christ gave to us. If all d men of God are true to their calling d world will b a peaceful and better place to live. 1 Like |

I don't quite agree with you. We are well beyond just spreading the gospel and deep into the realm of money-oriented evangelism. Nigeria needs more than religion and corrupt politics. izzou: 2 Likes 1 Share |

But Jesus did not establish any church and neither did he form a religion. Man did all these. Jesus only came with The Truth of His Teachings to save man. izzou: 1 Like 1 Share |

HCpaul:let me tell yhu somethin..... I graduated from uniben, at one point, they decided to restrict the activities of school fellowships....... That was one of the bloodiest periods of uniben's existence..... 'Til today, they cannot make that move again....... Now imagine it large scale, in the whole of Nigeria.... Consequences would be dire..... It's not just addictions my brotha, addictions are just the fore runners of full blown chaos...... Be careful what you wish for |

76Naira: Lol I quite agree with you sha. But my point is we cannot be depending on another sector or organization for a need contrary to their objective We can't say, because GTB recorded a profit of 42bn,they should be responsible for improving the health sector. Yes,they could build hospitals, but it wasn't the vision and objectives it's founding fathers had,or the aims of a bank. The church, if you are a Christian, was established solely for propagating God's word. You can't blame them for unemployment. China Is successful, not because of religion, remember? I quite agree with you that religion has done relatively well in Nigeria and instead of channeling this success to human development, the G Os prefer to fly private jets, but let's not misplace priorities here |

When some people are dashed 10mb when they load 100 naira, they often like to flex their muscles by bringing beer parlour arguments to the internet. Nowhere in the world do people look to the church and other religious establishments for the betterment of their physical lives, especially when they all voted a government in power. The church may only do that out of freewill and social concern, but that is not the primary purpose. Its just the same as blaming medical doctors for the high price of agricultural products in the market |

matrixme: You are so wrong. Perhaps due to inadvertent or deliberate ignorance. Many leading schools and hospitals were established by Christian and Muslim missionaries and people like Oyedepo were saved from a miserable life of penury and back breaking poverty by such heavily subsidised missionary schools. However, the pastorpreneur ingrate has decided to be like the Dead Sea. Unwilling to replicate the same subsidised primary schools that pulled him out of his squalor. What a waste! What a pity! 1 Like |

When u truly know Christ, ur problems wld be easy for u to sort out... did I forget to add that God gives u spiritual insight as to what u will do with ur life Jesus sed he that follows me will no longer walk in darkness (confusion, disaster) buh he shall have the light of life (solutions, peace, joy, prosperity). If our Govt. leaders are true followers of Christ, they will perform their duties well and by doing that create more jobs for the masses but it's just that so many of us claim to be Christians buh we've never enjoyed the benefits of that "personal relationship with Christ".... I dnt type anything that doesn't work for me, even tho I err sometimes, I still know that there's no place sweeter than dwelling in God's presence. There is less trouble, peace, happiness, Favour, fulfillment and many others. Who am I without Christ?? And What is life without Christ? Continue Spreading the Word, let them hav a true knowledge of Christ. Till people stop asking questions like wat these poster just asked, there is still much more to be done. People need to truly Know Christ More!!! 1 Like |

Religion is a terrible thing. It has blinded the minds of most Christians in Africa. They actually believe that sheepishly following a set of rules and codes and sticking with groupthink is what Jesus came for. How Sad. There are 200 times more Pharisees and Sadducees in African Churches now than there are people who are connected to the Spirit Of God. OP did not say we should close churches. But that is what many people are responding to. OP did not say Churches should do govt work of providing infrastructure etc. But that's what many people are responding to. The ability to read and comprehend spiritual issues has altogether been lost to many Christians because of a religious mindset. Once a matter "appears" to be a critique of Christianity many peoples brain goes into red alert and shuts down. What the OP is saying is that churches should be at the forefront of inspiring their members to make a positive difference within their communities and sphere of influence. That will have a greater impact on Nigeria than focusing solely on street evangelism (which is now more about poaching members of other churches, than converting unbelievers). How people can read the OP and not get that is beyond me. Like I said, Christians were at the forefront of scientific progress immediately after the spiritual awakening brought about by the Reformation of Martin Luther. Most of the basic discoveries in Physics and Chemistry and Engineering that is the foundation of the life we enjoy today emanated from said Reformation. Today you can hardly find Born Again Christians in The West excelling in the above fields as thinking has been rejected by the churches for at least 90yrs. obyrich: The church didn't put any1 in hell. U are responsible for ur actions!!! Oga are u a Christian? The Church can only lead u to the stream, they can't force u to drink... Christianity is not a religion of compulsion, nobody forces u to do anything buh instead, it's a religion of love where u decide willing that u want to serve Christ |

let's go a fishing is not a program basically aimed at opening a new church but rather to preach the gospel to unbelievers. |

VULCAN: Are u not a Christian? What is stopping u from being the best in ur field Hav u asked urself that question? Dnt blame it on the church, everything starts from you, if you hav not been able to do it, dnt expect others to do it. We can never stop soul-winning cs it was our assignment! Use logic and ask urself this question. Didn't Jesus see our economy before he asked us to go and win souls Or are u now smarter than him Bcs he knows that when u win leaders to Christ they will do the right thing and our economic situation will improve. It is called Strategic Planning!!!!!! We know too much and that's what's hindering our growth. No wonder Christ sed, if we can behave like Babies, we will see the Kingdom of God bcs the Average human knows too much. |

gadaffioba: The Nigerian church is NOT the largest donor to no one. You should provide credible sources and statistics for your assertion otherwise....... Meanwhile why have those who benefited from the way Christianity was propagated by the heavily subsidised missionary primary schools not replicated that model of propagating the faith? Do you know why? 1 Like |

Another one who cannot read and comprehend. God deliver us from Spiritual Zombies. Perhaps you can show me where I said we should stop soul winning. Religion hates anything intellectual. You just confirmed everything I posted previously is correct. Let me give you homework although I know you won't even be able to attempt it. Post 5 scriptures where Jesus SPECIFICALLY asked us to win souls since you claim he did so. Pls do this homework and post your results here. It is your Pastor that told you that Jesus said we should win souls and then you think that by focusing all your energies on sharing flyers on the roadside (instead of improving yourself so that you can minister to the material needs within your environment) that souls will be won. A person who is unemployed for 3 yrs is trying to win the soul of a person who has been unemployed for 2 yrs. Being an average Christian you did not even bother to search the scriptures to confirm like the Bereans. FYI Jesus came to Preach The Kingdom of God (which encompasses the economy you mentioned He didn't preach of, despite the fact that Jesus talked about and did so much to show He controls the Economy of those in the Kingdom). That is what he John The Baptist preached. That is what Jesus preached and that is what Apostle Paul preached. Anybody that preaches the Kingdom of God will discover that people will desire to be a part of it and therefore surrender their heart to him. All the leaders you have caught in let's go a fishing why haven't they stopped stealing Nigeria's money? EW Kenyon who was a Pastor and is considered one of the greatest Christian authors said: "Make your brain work. It will sweat, but make it work. It will improve. It will develop until you become a wonder to those around you." in his little masterpiece Signposts on The Road to Success. It was written in 1938 but something tells me you have not read it.
