Hehehehehe.

I don't understand why people lie to themselves. Accept the truth: We have a failed nation! It's the first step to solving our problems.

I agree we have our challenges, so do others.

Coming here to shower praises on Kenya and mocking Nigeria on the same thread is a bias comparison

Allow people who have been there to draw conclusions. Even a quick Google search will convince you that Nairobi is way ahead of our cities.
Hi,you didn't go to UAE again?

I think you meant to say tea and flowers.
The economy of kenya is a mixed one. No single sector takes the lions share, so its pretty much like a quilt. Agro based industries, tourism, engineering and construction, financials, manufacturing, shipping and related services, aviation, remittances from abroad etc etc all chipping in to the exchequer. Sadly until only 5 or so years ago we never had oil. Little in the way of minerals too.

Oga, please remember the food part. When you get there post visuals of your breakfast lunch etc.

In the middle of the Mara are some of the most exclusive and outrageously expensive hotels, camps and resorts. Its estimated that the park generates at least 100 million $ in revenue every year. It was once the source of a tussle between central govt and Narok county govt. For those who watch Nat Geo, you better know those animals bring in serious dollars to our economy. Maybe your govt can send a delegation to understudy us to see how they can develop Yankari for example. We are saddened by how nigerians slaughter wildlife willy nilly as I witness here in nairaland all the time.

Nigerians are hungry bro...

Thank you!!

Nigerians are by far the most successful people in Africa, we set up the pace in entrepreneurship and innovations.
Unlike many African countries like South africa which depend on foreign owned businesses.

thats why there are over 100 nigerian companies operating in SA..hence there is only one South african cement company Operating in Nigeria...Nigeria rules grin

Doesn't mean Kenya is better than Nigeria. The op only showed the capital, NAIROBI, not the whole of Kenya. You can't appraise a whole country just from the capital and use that to condemn the WHOLE of your country

There's no bias intended when a tourist posts pics of beautiful African cities he visits.

The comparison was inevitable. We are both African nations. If they can get basic things done, if they've got access to basic amenities like 24/7 electricity, so should we.

The Nigerian people, leaders and culture of mediocrity have created an unsafe and unjust society where nothing works, theives reign and merit is worthless.

You can all keep up with the cognitive dissonance, but the honest fact is that we've created a horrible place for our next generation to live in.

Lovely place, Obudu cattle ranch nko, Tinapa, Lovely water falls we have here, Calabar Christmas carnival, I can go on but it is a pity that you couldn't even think of one place, smh

what is the work of ministry of cultures and tourism and their billions of budget doing?and you espect belam to do their work?look I was at akwaba tourism expo at eko hotels. Nigeria stand had nothing to show visitors but you need to see Rwanda kenya Uganda Ghana Ethiopian Gambia south Africa stands .it was a pity and we hosted it.the question that is agitating the minds is how did we get there and how are going to come out of this?

Out of this bloody thread

If you want to upload pictures do so don't come and start insulting my country, we have problems fine since you can't offer solutions let it be

Besides I didn't see you create a thread showing pictures of where you stay in Nigeria or a visit to any Nigeria City.

Have a nice vacation hope Kenyans find you a wife

You know so much about Kenya yet you don't know there are five star hotels in Nigeria

I don't know, and I don't care. It's easy to make another successful city, once you made one & I'm sure theyve already done that. The important thing is that they're getting it right while we aren't.

The ease and standard of living is what makes a great city. Not the expensive rubbish we call lovely places (E.g. Abuja, lekki, VI etc) that haven't even got basic amenities that makes for a nice stay when a foreigner comes. If your city can't provide what developed nations regard as basic amenities at an affordable price to some tourist students taking a year off, then your city simply isn't livable.

It's really easy to know if a nice city. It's these little things that counts: did you take notice of the security flash cams on their roads, or that they also make pedestrian way when they build their roads, that they've got great cuisine because of the diversity and influence from basically every part of the world, that they've got country themed pubs, bars & resturants, that their shops (E.g coffee shops) have soul and a certain loveable ambience i.e designed & decorated so that you love to hang out at the place not just because of their products but because the outlet stands for something etc etc. Note: all these have to be affordable!

And we haven't even talked about electricity, manufacturing, agriculture or security and all that. That further relegates Nigerian cities into the darker part of the spectrum of shit-holes to live in.

Again, if basic, simple, beautiful things are available only to the sizeable elite, then your city is sh!t.

God bless u bro Bedlam for this thread, u have showed us the possibilities in Africa and how we have limited ourselves as a country. There is no harm showing how poorly we have done as a country and how a less "fortunate" country can show so much promise. I have gone to ur thread and I am in awe of its beauty. Kindly let me know how much I should keep in mind for a one week trip with my spouse. I also don't mind pursuing a master's degree and enjoy the diversity for a short while.

Many thanks.

Not really the photos of animals are maasai mara about 350km from the capital. Plus he also mentioned Narok town if you were keen enough.we have alot of cities but not with the population some of you expect how do you expect our next 20 cities/towns to have over 1 million people its just riduculous with a total population of 45million.
Re: My Trip To Kenya In Pictures by nivlark254: 1:07pm On May 01, 2017
Most of the people visit Nairobi so most of the pics you will see are from Nairobi bt if someone ventures past that he/she can clearly paint another perspective that you wont believe it being kenya take for example this border crossing between Kenya and Ethiopia

Kenya has some of the best beaches. Their Resorts are world class. Diani beach in Mombasa has resorts that can compete favorably with the best. Unknown to many, majority of tourists visit kenya to enjoy their beaches not wildlife parks. Malindi city population is close to half whites. This is a country without a single natural resources and minerals. World leader in mobile banking. Biggest producer of flowers in the world. They generate majority of their electricity through geothermal (leading in Africa). Kenya without corruption could easily be a first world.

Even our other cities are beautiful, and well built, not just Nairobi.

FYI, a city having millions of residents doesnt make it great. It is the quality of the infrastructure that really matters.

Look at the Kenya's fourth city, Eldoret.....

and this is Kericho, the 26th largest town in Kenya

Kenya is not a "one city country" as @BedLam had falsely stated here.
