Celtic, Club Brugge, FCK Target Odey Off To Abuja Tuesday, Agent Rules Out Move To Russia

The bonafide representative of Mountain of Fire sensation Stephen Odey has ruled out a transfer to the Russian Premier League in the summer transfer window.

FK Krasnodar have tested the waters regarding the acquisition of the leading scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League, but his advisers would prefer him to start his career outside Nigeria with a Scandinavian team, FC Copenhagen to be specific, and have turned down the proposal from Russia.

''Odey is presently in Nigeria, he has been called up for the friendly against Corsica and will travel to Abuja tomorrow for a visa interview,'' a Mountain of Fire insider told
allnigeriasoccer.com .

''We have heard of the interest from Celtic but they have not officially approached MFM. Agents representing teams in Germany, France and Club Brugge have officially written to MFM.

''We should not forget that Odey just left secondary school. He is still 19 and will not be allowed to go to Russia which is too cold. He will consider an offer from FC Copenhagen.''

Odey was signed by MFM after starring for Dairy Farm Senior Secondary, Agege during the GTB Principals Cup.

I would rather he goes to Belgium instead of Denmark.

The Belgian League has proven over and over to be a fertile ground for grooming top Nigeria talents.

Adi never found it easy at Copenhaghen. I doubt if they believe in grooming young talents the way the Belgian Clubs do.

The greedy agent that made this guy loose that Juventus deal, may God forgive him.

At a point Theophilus Solomon was ahead of Isaac Success and Kelechi Iheanacho or Muazam in Eaglets training.

He was NEVER ahead of those three players. It was simply hype by ANS at the time. Let's not forget, he was dropped.

You dry mind them! In addition, does he always have to score in order to be effective?

Some of these journos are totally useless.

Besides he is being played as a winger and not as a striker.

I v told u I can't make a case for the siasia and oliseh, I think with all respect to Keshi he let the Afcon get into his head, n also let's not forget how unsupportive the NFF was to him after the Afcon. we shouldn't forget his input to the performances of the SE at the world cup and at the confed cup. the se really held the own agains strong opponents like Spain, Uruguay and Argentina, we only lacked good goalscoring strikers. remember how ideye couldn't score thaiti (hey who recalls the guy who scored the hattrick where is he now).
what we really lacked was strikers that could score both at the confed cup and world cup, we n Uruguay knew whoever scored most against thaiti would come second behind Spain if we had drew Uruguay in that game. in fact I believe we could v beat Uruguay that day they were very beatable but who scored ? Mikel, our unexpected goalscorer. in the world cup against Iran we scored thru emenike but was called offside, apart that Iran were frustrating, Argentina were way poorer than we were against Iran the difference was Messi, when we played them no the difference was Messi. so keshi did wonderfully well under unpleasant situations so u can't compare his case to sia and oliseh

What, exactly, has Kelechi Iheanacho done wrong? That is the question Kelechi Iheanacho has been asking himself as he lies awake at night this season (and Hot Football Transfer Gossip knows this for a fact, because we installed a webcam in his bedroom).

He was dropped because of two reasons:
1. That he was nursing an injury.

2. That the Technical crew reasoned that the should go with those who had been with team from the beginning.

Have you forgetten how he was outscoring the other guys during training matches?

Left for me I would have gone with Theophilus Solomon instead of Chidera Eze.

He was not outscoring anyone. He is a good player but the hype was overblown. Go back and you will see that most of the reports of his brilliance were coming from one source then copied by other sources.

Isaac Success was not with the team from the start and got into the team. Manu tried to be fair with his selections.

Hibernian keen to retain Ambrose's services
Scottish Champion

Scottish Championship side Hibernian have made it clear that they want to retain the services of Efe Ambrose, who is on-loan from Glasgow Celtic.

The Nigeria international, who is a defender by trade, is currently on a short-term loan deal at Hibernian from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.

Hibernian manager and coach Neil Lennon has confirmed their interest in signing Ambrose on a permanent deal at the end of the current season.

“That’s something we’re looking into,” Lennon told Edinburg Evening News.

“He’s not our player, but if we get an opportunity to sit down with him next week and see what his plans are, then it’s something we will pursue. Obviously we’d have to speak to Efe, his representatives and Celtic as well.

“It’ll depend on his own personal circumstances. He’s just had a baby boy. Does he want to stay in Scotland? If so, there aren’t many better clubs outside Celtic than here," he continued.

''Does he see himself in England? If so, there are visa issues he’d have to consider. He’s a lot to think about over the next couple of months.”

“It’s been a very good move personally for him and also for us. He’s back playing and showing the country what he’s capable of, the quality of player he is. He loves playing football and he’s playing big games again. He’s a great kid to have around the place – he’s a joy to work with," he added.

“He knows what I demand because of the familiarity we have there [from their times together at Celtic] and I think he’s enjoyed being around the club. He’s certainly enjoyed the adulation that he’s got from the fans – that’s been in abundance.

“I think he needed that because some of the outpourings of ridicule [at Celtic] were way over the top. He’s a class player," he stressed.

"As I’ve said before, it’s no disgrace not playing regularly at Celtic at the minute because the bar’s been raised, but he’s still got a huge amount of quality and can play at a very high level in the game. Certainly in the eyes of the public here, Efe has shown what a quality player he is.”

The 28-year-old defender has featured in nine league games for Hibernian, who have already won this season's Championship title and clinched promotion to the Premiership.

Villarreal to sign Arsenal target Samuel Chukwueze, academy to get 500,000 Euros

One-time target for both Arsenal and FC Porto, Samuel Chukwueze, is now expected to sign a professional contract with Spanish La Liga side Villarreal with his local academy pocketing 500,000 Euros.

A source who is familiar with this transaction told SCORENigeria the former Flying Eagles star will be given a pro contract when he clocks 18 on May 22.

“Chukwueze has been training with Villarreal and he is expected to bag a pro deal with the club when he is 18,” the source informed.

Interestingly, Arsenal were offering almost thrice what Villarreal are now ready to pay for the exciting winger, who scored three goals at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile.

Arsenal were willing to fork out 1.5 million pounds, but the transfer fell through after Diamond Academy of Umuahia allegedly reneged on an agreement to pay the London-based agents a certain percentage of the transfer fee of another academy graduate, Kelechi Nwakali, and also an agreement was not reached as to how Chukwueze’s transfer fee will be paid.

Ipalibo Jack also from Diamond Academy is already at Villarreal.

Well, first of all... I am not Coach Gernot Rohr.

And also, Osimhen is the youngest striker on the list yet to be unveiled. It is important that he is constantly exposed to national team environment. Rohr has eyes on the present as well as the future I believe....

And again.... what options do you suggest if not that Martins will be brought up again and again?

You people should leave Rohr to his "sentimentality" abeg.... he hasn't lost a game with such "sentimentality" just yet.... And the team is bonding just fine.

When Keshi took an Obiorah Nwankwo, Nosa Igiebor, Sunday MBA, Egwuekwe, and even an Agbim to Afcon 2013, sebi he still came back with the trophy?

I think Rohr should be left to plan this team and steer the wheel as he pleases... So far he is doing good. But yes... there are other players he should have to look at also which I hope he will do....

But if you talk of martins as regards your "options".... then I must say... " Rohr ride on"

I know too many kids who were great at youth football but couldn't progress when it came to the senior professional game.

Selection cannot be based on assumption from past glories but present continous performance. Wolfsburg is not Chelsea where the access to first team football from youth football is extremely restricted and difficult.

If he is Osimhen unable to claim position in Wolfsburg then there is no merit in inviting him to the SE. It's unfair and not creating a level playing field.

Football is about continous progression, V.Moses, Ndidi, Etebor, Aluko, Efe Ambrose, etc are progressing. But Ighalo, Brown, Isaac Success are not.

If you are not cutting it in yout club the primary basis for national team selection. What is the basis for your selection. Potential, past glories and or the coach likes you.

Keshi was a great coach but he had they same issues that plague most Nigerian managers, undue preference.

I want players to be invited on merit, we want the best possible team for the SE, no sentiment attached.

CELTIC STRIKER TARGET TO LEAVE FOR EUROPEAN CLUB THIS WEEK – REPORTS

Nigerian teenager Stephen Odey will leave African outfit MFM FC for Rusian side FC Krasnodar this week, according to a report.

All Nigeria Soccer had previously claimed that the 19-year-old striker was a Celtic target and that he will travel to Glasgow to undergo a ‘medical evaluation’ as part of a trial.

However, OwnGoalNigeria have now quoted a club source stating that “he will leave for Russia before the end of the week,” while he is also unavailable to join Celtic as he doesn’t yet qualify for a work permit.

“We read these things and laugh over it. So far only Kuban Krasnodar have been in touch officially. They sent us a mail which contained an offer for Odey. So I wonder where talks about Celtic came from,” told a “club source” to OwnGoalNigeria.

“FC Copenhagen offered to have him on trail, through an agent but his manager said Odey won’t be going for any trials. Talking about Celtic those peddling the rumours should know that Odey is not qualified for a work permit yet.

“He will leave for Russia before the end of the week. He is going for negotiations with FK Krasnodar and that has been agreed on by the management, so for now that is our stand.”
Odey, 19, is highly rated in Africa and is currently leading the scoring charts in the Nigeria Professional Football League having found the net 14 times for his club.

He is also being considered for a debut call-up to the senior Nigeria squad at his young age.

The Hoops currently have Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths playing as their strikers and Brendan Rodgers may be looking to add further firepower and young legs to his side in the summer.

However, despite Odey not being available for a work permit Celtic may remain interested in reported target and fellow Nigerian youngster Henry Onyekuru, who is already playing in Europe with Belgian outfit Eupen.

In other Celtic transfer news, a Hoops chief has jetted out on a scouting mission to watch 21-year-old star .

The Chidera Eze of the 2013 U-17 is way different from the Chidera Eze now associated with Rangers.

Besides... this reminds me of when we used to have Uche Kalu of Enyimba and Uche Kalu (sometimes called Kalu Uche to distinguish the two) based abroad... wink

So plsss... they are different. Eze of Porto on loan at Portimonense is progressing nicely and even scored a brace recently for his side but this other Eze Chidera is a locally based player Rangers just acquired.

and please Rangers have announced that they signed Chidera Eze into their team for the second stanza. please I don't seem to recall him too well please kindly remind me of who he is. cc thesupernerd

lastly former npfl top scorer jude aneke now has 6 goals in 8 nnl games for Ikorodu utd, guy x having a resurrection he might move back into the NPFL, Ikorodu is bottom of the southern conference they may find themselves in the NLO 1 next season if that happens nd he keeps scoring he may sign for a newly promoted team into the npfl especially teams like go round, gateway utd etc, if they should qualify.

Exclusive: John Ogu Wins The Heart Of Rohr, To Train With Super Eagles In Paris

Israeli-based John Ogu has been handed an opportunity to make the Super Eagles roster for the African Cup of Nations qualifying match with South Africa.

The Hapoel Be'er Sheva star has been called up to attend the training camp in Corsica and Paris, where he will be monitored at close quarters by manager Gernot Rohr.

This time around, Ogu has made the squad on merit, having caught the eye when he replaced the injured Eddy Onazi in the 25th minute of Nigeria's 1-1 draw with Senegal on March 23.
The hardworking central midfielder made his international debut against Kenya back in 2013.

This season, John Ogu has appeared 29 times in the Israeli Premier League and opened his goalscoring account against Maccabi Tel Aviv this past weekend.

Iheanacho linked with Man City exit
by Sammy Wejinya

Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is on the verge of joining German club, Borussia Dortmund if reports in the British press are to be believed.

Iheanacho’s English club, Manchester City are reportedly keen on doing business with Dortmund when the transfer window reopens in July which could see the Super Eagles man move to the Signal Iduna Park in the summer.

The Citizens have endured one of their toughest campaigns in recent times, and they are not yet assured of a place in next season's Champions League.

According to The Sun, Pep Guardiola will seek to revive his interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after they face with a tentative approach for his signature last summer. Aubameyang has repeatedly stated his desire to feature for Real Madrid, but it appears that he may have to switch his attention with the European champions not in rush to sign a new striker.

City have been chasing the Gabonese marksman for a while, and as reported in The Sun, they are prepared to offer Kelechi Iheanacho as makeweight in a proposed deal for Aubameyang.

Iheanacho has largely played backup to the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, and his future looks bleak at the Etihad despite the former being linked with a potential exit from the club.

Borussia Dortmund manager, Thomas Tuchel has been open to the prospect of developing talents in his line-up, and Iheanacho could get his chance to prove his credentials, should a deal be struck in the summer.

Iheanacho has scored four times in 18 league appearances for City this season (mostly as a sub).

Iwobi vows to return to reckoning
by Sammy Wejinya

Alex Iwobi has insisted that he will return stronger at English Premier League club, Arsenal.

The Nigerian has been relegated to the bench Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger in recent matches following a string of poor displays for the club.

He has also had a spell with the club's under-23s this season.
He missed five Arsenal games against West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, Manchester City and Leicester City during this period.

The 20-year-old was however again on the bench in Sunday’s North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur as an unused substitute at White Hart Lane.

Iwobi is refusing to get downbeat, though, with the promising forward able to draw on past experiences, such as almost being released in his teens, to put his current situation into perspective.

“My journey so far has been a bumpy ride, so it’s something I look back on and say to myself,” he told the club’s official Magazine.

“If I can overcome things that I believe were worse than what’s going on now, then surely I should be able to overcome this.

“It’s tough, especially for the ones who almost get released, which I unfortunately had to go through. It makes you stronger.

“If you’re good enough and you apply the work that needs to be done and put in maximum effort then you’ll come through,” he said.

He has now set his sights on a return to the high notes he hit earlier in the season.

“I’m the type of person who likes to keep moving forward,” added Iwobi.

“You have to improve day by day and obviously we’re not doing as well as we believe we should be doing, so when the next challenge comes up we have to try to prove to the fans and prove to everyone at Arsenal what we can do.

“We have some big games coming up, so everyone should be pumped up. We need to prove ourselves in these games.

“We have to prove to everyone that we can play against these top teams.”

Iwobi has scored three goals in 24 league appearances for Arsenal this season.

I sincerely share your thoughts.

But one thing is I cannot rate even the best 11 from this tournament as totally good enough for the eaglets. Recall I described that Million Kome guy as a potential candidate for the eaglets team.

Why?

This U15 tournament carries players who were horridly assembled for the sake of the tourney.
No traditional academy team is participating. I believe those academy boys may be more grounded in the knowledge of the game than these ones.

My take is after selecting 23 players from this tourney the selection should also be extended to cover players from the traditional football academies. And let the best be taken.

So when you don't see some of the best from this tournament not making the next eaglets team let's not cry fowl. And I sincerely wish the selection be done without sentiments and "mago-mago".

Aina for FA Cup final? thus may miss the Corsica friendly?

Exclusive – Why Gernot Rohr Dropped Chelsea Ola Aina From Super Eagles Squad For France Camp

Chelsea upcoming full back Ola Aina won’t be joining the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their training camp in France, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Aina won’t be involved in the training after coach of Chelsea Antonio Conte included him in his plans for the FA Cup final tie against Arsenal on the 27 th of May.

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is a big fan of the full back after his impressive performance in training when the Super Eagles converge for two friendly games last month, but only played once against Senegal after Burkina Faso failed to show up for the second game due to visa issues to London.

Aina was heavily tipped to make his debut for Nigeria in a friendly game for Nigeria against Corsica Island on the 26th of May, but Chelsea’s FA Cup commitment means he will be excused from the camping.

Aina, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi have been permitted by Rohr to miss the France camp, which was organised to help the players prepare adequately well for their AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa in June.

Dembele, Nacho and Reus combo, I hope it materializes, and I hope they meet city in the champions league so he can't put all the drilling against city defenders to use and prove to the Lucky one how talented he is.

Isaac Success currently in action against Liverpool... subbed in on the 73rd minute mark......

Watford is down 1-0 at home and Success is brought in to help a free-fallinh Watford side get back into the game.

Osimhen has been out injured... and only recently returned to training... don't you get it? Give the lad a break... and stop jumping into conclusions about him. Haba naa....

I was quite surprised when I read what he wrote in relation to Osimhen.
