lol , the guy was slow.

I have frnds like that, you give them a question and they broadcast it to their more brilliant frnds on Whatsapp.

I had thought he'd drop the answer in 3 minutes

You need serious flogging. Your problems are not creative. Try harder. You are boring me. Anyway, I am off to my bball game.

Running away from tough questions my boy??

Next time, be humble cos not everyone on NL is your mate.

Ordinary trigonometric differentiation, the ICAN student cannot attempt.

I expected you to atleast tell me what steps you could take to normalize the problem, particularly by geometrical representation, but alas! We can all see.

My advice for you is to get a solid maths textbook that challenges you, not those quantitative aptitude that you or the OP will be bringing on here for N 10,000 reward.

Okay. CACAWA before I go let me educate you. This is how you solve that problem without taking SQUARES:

You count.

Reduce the problem to a + b = 15. Then count.

1 + 14 is disqualified do you know why?
2 +13 also disqualified do you know why?
3 + 12 also disqualified do you know why?
4 + 11 also disqualified do you know why?
5 + 10 also disqualified do you know why?
go down the list and you will see only 8 and 7 qualifies therefore x = a^2 = 7^2 = 49 OR use b to get the same result.

Cacawa you are a formally trained mathematician but you are not creative. Find out why this method works and get back at me later. I have things to do. BY THE WAY IT TOOK ME LESS THAN A MINUTE USING THE COUNTING METHOD. TRY IT.

You disappointed me walahi

So this is maths....Hahhahaha....Aye mi temi bami...

You will end up in McDonald's!!!! Ahhhh.

Okay, sit down my dear, let me tell you the mistakes you make.

Maths is logic, it's not trial and error, in maths we ensure all stones are uncovered.

What if the problem has more than one solution??

What you do not understand is that quantitative reasoning is NOT maths. This isn't how we engineers build robust systems.

If maths were done this way, planes and rockets will crashland like butterflies.

You need to make sure all possible domains and ranges are considered.

Now, what if I told you that this question has more than one answer?

49 is just one of them.

There you have it, but I understand you may not have a science background so you may not realise what I mean. Perhaps in commerce, numbers have to always be simple integers.

Lol @ICAN maths sha.

Lol. You better sit down and learn.

X = 49

Take √(x) from both sides.

Square both sides

Collect like terms,

That linearises the problem.

Solve for x.

Q.E.D

Now, next question.

Y = arcsin(x+x^2) + arccos(xy)

Find dy/dx
Your questions are too straightforward.
dy/dx=[1+2x/sqrt(1-(x^2+x)^2]-[y/sqrt(x^2y^2-1)]

Farabale jare. You are not thinking clearly. Counting WILL give you the INTEGER solution IF one exists. Otherwise, you use a more formal method. I have worked with systems with infinitely many solutions so don't patronize me. COUNTING means INTEGER...COUNT. GET IT?

Cowcawa is just running his mouth with big useless grammar. You can only count INTEGERS. Hence, smart counting will give you an integer solution. If you fail to get an integer solution from counting then you try taking the squares of both sides. Do you wanna count decimal? Go buy sense brah!

yes but like i said earlier... while you are still solving maths by "counting" (hahha ha hhahaha), your counterparts abroad (or your seniors abroad - if we are talking about me) are using the considering real numbers, complex numbers and in case you have not heard of the latest one, 3D numbers, to solve problems.

So let's try to step up the game..Okay?

I was going to give you some 3D angle trig questions...But it's okay you can go and play bball. Lol

My guy Akin's counting method is original and very clever. I didn't even think of it and am quite good with math. Want thing you learn in science/math is to always search for the easiest solution first and if that fails then elevate the game. Your problem does not require "taking squares or any 3D (whatever) methodology. Akin just prove that he can solve your problem without even using a pen or paper not talk of computer. All you have is grammar they guy is more clever than you. No offense. Just observation.

No. Yungmillion tried to post the thread before and it was deleted. But Akin saw the original post so that gave him about 2 minutes headstart. That was how Akin was able to post the solution quickly after Yung reposted it. All the same, the guy did it in less than 3 minutes. Impressive, I think.

well, if you insist ooo
He was only doing trial and error.

So if a= √x
And b = √(x+15)
Then we want a+b =15

So the trial and error method he did was to say let a and b = 1 and 14 , 2 and 13, 3 and 12.......7 and 8

Then for each of those guesses (which of course will not be listable if the question had say, 99 instead of 15) he said;

If x = a squared
So let's see if b = √ (x + 15) ( using that same x we just got) will give us the number we want b to be. (As earlier listed out)

So he looked at all those whole numbers..Lol...Before arriving at x = 7 squared = 49
And b = √(49 + 15) = 8 which is the same as what we paired up.

Now do you get it?

Disclaimer...This method (as mathematicians will say) does not provide all possible solutions for x and hence, fails the "reductio ad absurdum" test.

My guy calm down. You are being unreasonable. For you to think am Akin is absurd. Anyway, here is my thinking: You have a problem and you seek the easiest solution is called being clever. Akin counted. And found a solution. Of course counting by its nature can only give you an INTEGER solution. He did not say that was the ONLY solution - he told you "put 49 for X and see what happens." I am following this thread closely because its mine. And since 49 satisfied the equation Akin was correct. That is original and clever - that's the point I was trying to make. I never said you are not intelligent, I just think Akin is more intelligent than you, no offence.
