I feel like I am alone in this.I am very depressed its as if my life is falling apart. The things that matter to me don't matter no more. I am just unnecessarily uncomfortable with noise and sound and it scares me. I have tried talking to a friend but I don't think anyone understands. Am just conscious of every sound. Its like i have super hearing powers or maybe i am just paying attention to it.Am so depressed and scared and its funny to me. I keep asking myself y can't i be like every normal person. When I hear a sound i try to look at people's reaction and it doesn't bother them. I hate myself and I just feel like ending it all.Any help cause its affecting my job since I get little or no sleep. Screaaaaammiing. Help me help me

OP: you're suffering from depression and social anxiety, your anxiety is causing the hypersensitivity to noise stimuli and your depression is causing the hopelessness & loss of interest you feel, you need to go see a psychiatrist and get medication for your depression & anxiety, social anxiety is an actual medical condition that co-habits with most mental illnesses like depression in your case. untreated anxiety can lead to panic attacks and those things are dreadful. i know nigeria is very complicated and the thought of having to deal with the hospital system is exhausting but do this for yourself, go to a general hospital, meet a psychiatrist, tell him/her how u feel he will prescribe something for you and you'll go to a pharmacy with this prescription and buy the meds.
my depression responded very very well to fluoxetine (street name: prozac), before that, i tried other meds that didn't work for me so i cant guarantee that it will work for u like it worked for me but if you really don't want to go to a doctor, try to see if you can get this drug without a doctor's prescription at a pharmacy. get some sleeping pills too for your insomnia. if u can't get fluoxetine from a pharmacy, take my advice and go see a psychiatrist, really give this your all, your brain is an organ just like your kidneys & liver, and it's the most important organ, it can get sick too, don't undermine these symptoms, get help.
i'm so sorry you're not in a good place, i hope you get better soon, sending you lots of good vibes.

Better if you can keep yourself busy in any work so that you can divert your mind from sounds you don't want to listen.Start giving time limits to that particular work, this insists you to give all your concentration to that work.

Thanks. But how long will you have to be on meds?

you have to take the meds till it kicks in, take it for 5-7 more days and stop. how will u know when it kicks in? you will 100% feel it, mine kicked in the morning of day 3, i just woke up and didn't have that lack of zeal to live & that 'why didn't i die in my sleep' feeling, i actually got up from bed and took a walk, something i never do when i'm depressed. u don't have to take anti-depressants forever hehe it's not how it works, when you're depressed your brain just doesn't secrete enough chemicals to stabilize moods, an anti-depressant is a supplement that stimulates those zones to begin to secrete those chemicals again and once they kick in, just take it for a few more days and stop, you should be fine afterwards and if you're the type who suffers depression a lot, whenever it returns, just go buy the meds and recharge, i last took mine for 10 days in december 2016 and i've been fine till now.

there's a sense of relief with figuring out which meds work for u, it makes depression less scary, like if i ever relapse, i know exactly what to do. fluoxetine is an anti-depressant with anti-panic effects, it'll really tackle your social anxiety, i was sensitive to noise, i was very uncomfortable with the presence of ppl, i just wanted no human interaction, my depression really isolated me and i was also very sensitive to sunlight brightness but this drug got me out of bed to take a walk by 11am in the morning when the streets were packed and the sun was out, i had nothing to do outside, i just woke up and felt hey let's stroll, the weather is so nice, i couldnt believe it was me thinking of strolling or living life. it's tested and confirmed by me. it doesn't help with sleep though, your sleeping cycle will stay unaffected at first, if u can, take it without a sleeping pill, because if the pill is not prescribed with consideration to it, you might get a pill that counter-acts it, i didn't take sleeping pills but i noticed that when i was on it, when i wasn't sleeping, i wasn't crying or sad or thinking morbid thoughts anymore, i was on the internet enjoying the drama on twitter, i was commenting on websites i abandoned, my mind wasn't wandering, i was watching films which is something i loved but quit doing when i was depressed cos they just didn't make me happy anymore, it simply made me productive, less reclusive and the self-pity stopped, my sleep cycle returned while on this drug, the whole work all day feeling exhausted, come back home but can't sleep is what depression does cos your body isn't getting the signal to rest, but the stay awake at night but happy phase will last like a day or 2 and you'll begin to feel tired and sleepy when you should be and when you work and get home, you'll feel really tired and like a normal person, you'll fall asleep.

PROZAC has a very good rep, it's mechanism of action makes many ppl highly responsive to it making it one of the least selective anti-depressants, most ppl respond to it. it doesn't produce any feeling of highness, making ppl able to carry on with their lives and work normally and also makes it a non-candidate for abuse or addiction cos it creates no enjoyment so what's the point of taking it when not needed, there's no cycle of dependence cos when u stop taking it, the brain has been stimulated to take it from there, you can't overdose on it, making it a safe bet for prescription for depressed ppl cos they can't hurt themselves with it which is why i think some countries allow it in pharmacies without prescription. it just does its work and very well at that. ehen when you stop taking it, you will have serious konji for 1 or 2 days, get your vaseline ready, you'll be very ho.rny, it's cos prozac suppresses sex drive and boosts the brain's "feel-good" part so when u stop taking it, the suppression leaves and the brain is still happy so the toto goes crazy, but the konji lasts for like 2 days and your normal sex drive returns. those who have tried this drug respect it, it just works. smiley
