Yes, he was an attacking RB, one of the best. Played 5 years for us from 95-2000. Also did very well in World Cup 1994.

I know this from experience of loved ones, not myself. I would rather become an alcoholic than a gambler.

One of my good friends and football colleague called Kwame got into it. He was a smart boy right from college. We used to call him Calculus. 2004 UCL final, I accompanied him to bookies to place a £2 bet on Monaco v Porto, not knowing this is becoming a serious problem to him. To cut a long story short, I spent the next few years fielding phonecalls from his baby mama on how he is a degenerate dad, he steals money meant for the kids etc etc, and of course he dropped out of uni. Unfortunately for the babymama, she even went and got pregnant a 2nd time when it was already established that he is a degenerate. One day in 2007, we were on our way to play football on Saturday morning, we are already late for the match, he insisted he must stop and place bet. The niggas body was shaking like an addict. His brain was so consumed with the bet (or the shame that he couldn't even hide his addiction from me), he left the money in the ATM. I took the money from the ATM after he had walked away and gave him. It was £20. He walked into the bookies and bet it all. Cut a long story short, I stopped seeing Kwame around 2008, his life had turned into a sorry mess, a vagrant who was getting kicked out from house to house because of his problem. 2 years ago, I learnt his desperation drove him to become a drug mule, trying to fly with cocaine from Ghana to London. Needless to say, they caught him and slapped him with 6 years at her Majesty's Pleasure.

2nd experience, my junior brother was doing OK. He was working at the BBC, had a fiance, his own place, driving Audi TT etc etc etc. He was only 21 and even already had the deposit to buy his first flat. It was around 2007, when his colleagues took him to Casino for a fun night. Around 2008, we started hearing stories from his fiancé that he is becoming a degenerate. He could not account for money budgeted for this and that etc. 2008 Xmas, I called him upstairs and warned him that he will lose his fiancé, his life etc if he does not stop. To cut a long story short, he did not and lost everything but his life. He was sacked from his job for a reason he has not revealed till today, his fiancé kicked him out, he was couch-surfing with God knows who until we went and got him and carried him home to restart his life. He had to stay at home and incubate himself for many years to get himself back on track. We had to pay off so many credit card and bank defaults, red letters were coming through the post everyday. His total debt was around £7k. He struggled to beat his addiction, stealing my parents cash in the house, and even from his new employer that landed him in trouble with the police, but thankfully not in jail. To cut long story short, he was not even allowed access to his own bank account. My popsie had to control his bank account, fill his fuel tank for the week, then give him only £20 for the week. And this is my brother's own money he was working for, yet being babysat like a 3 year old. Cut a long story short, after years of Gamblers Anonymous, micromanagement of his finances and movements, he seems to be alright. But you know with gamblers, you can never tell what they will do when you're not with them.

In summary, I advise anyone against gambling. Some people can manage a small weekly involvement and make it seem fun, but they don't tell you about the other side. It is especially bad when your gambling is driven by desperation to make money. In Nigeria now, most of our youths have become degenerates over this gambling stuff. It is mostly due to the socio-economic condition of the country. They act out of desperation just like the MMM participants, but they don't publicised the human cost of this disease in Nigeria. So my advice to all our young men is run away from it, and don't be enticed by these ninjas publicising odds and winnings etc.
Much respect Ibime... cool

If Chelsea gains 8 points from the remaining games, and Tottenham gain 12 points, it will be down to goal differential
Right now, the Spurs are ahead in GD...

For those using our game vs Everton as part of why Lukaku shouldn't come to Chelsea next season, I think you need to watch BBC's MOTD and hear Ian Murphy analysis on why Lukaku can't do naught against top teams.

No wonder Afrodoc2 said Barkley is just a runner not a CM.

There's literally no point arguing these fellas. Koeman plays ultra-defensively against big teams..at least at Everton. That's just a fact.

When Everton were playing gung-ho attacking football under Martinez and Lukaku scored against every single member of the top 4, these clowns were staying silent.

That's why I refuse to get drawn into the argument again.

Not all of them stayed silent. Some have been consistent, based on facts that are very easy to observe. You will expect up to 95% of teams in the PL to line up against Everton thinking they can win. Therefore, no one's going into those games parking 11 men behind the ball.

Conversely, you will expect the crudest of tactics against Chelsea. Constant annoying sh1t like man-marking Hazard, 13 men behind the ball etc. Do I see Lukaku constantly playing in a packed opposition back-line, where clever movements, swift one-twos, flicks and tricks are required to unlock these defence lines and score goals? The answer is a flat NO! There is nothing as yet about Lukaku to convince me that he possesses this in his locker.

And I cannot for the life of me understand why this is not so clear. Danny Murphy has not considered this in his analysis. And I can understand not every pundit has what it takes to analyse from a big-team perspective.

I really wish Lukaku good but please not at Chelsea. Certainly not at £65m. 23-year-old with 144 career goals in the PL. How many 23-year-olds can boast of such record at this age? None! True.

However, this is the sort of scenario you see Real & Barcelona going to war over, with agents all over his family members, offering deals to anyone, and flirting with him publically in the press, just to get the new sensation to their grounds. I see none of that happening. Alarm bells!

Where are Bayern, PSG, Monaco, United, City, Arsenal, Liverpool..... All those who should be all over this chap who was breaking records at 21? Nowhere near.

And the reason is very clear to see. The flaw in Lukaku is greater than the sum of all good he brings to the game. EOS!

Drogba!!!!!

1. I knew this was coming. Oya go and check Drogba's record for league goals and come back.

2. In case you haven't noticed, that Chelsea football style has died. Now we are building play from the back, passing it on the floor more times than we ever did with the JM team. Then it didn't matter because we moved the ball quickly to Drogba, who dropped it down quickly to the likes of Robben, Duff, Lampard, Cole. Our midfield build was not for Samba-esque attacking play, it was for out-defending the opposition. Now we are building from the back and working up the field with vertical passes through the channels.

Don't just say Drogba!!. Insert context, please.

I can't remember top club chasing drogba before we bought him.

Drogba was extremely clumsy when he started playing for CFC and wasn't scoring either.

Drogba never had that clever movements when he started with us,he couldn't execute one twos successfully,he lacked tricks and couldn't do flicks in tight corners either.

I am sure you can remember the arguments you made against a peak drogba few years ago bro. The issue of shape keeping and all that but,let us even leave that aside.

Who do u want us to get and why?

I personally will take lukaku ahead of the remaining strikers being linked to us at the moment because he scores!!! Simple.

Lukaku can actually score goals!! He may not do 30plus however,i will be totally ok if he can do 20plus.

Yes, we are building from the back, working up the field with vertical passes through the channels with a Costa, a wasteful striker in terms of possession and one who is highly erratic in nature.

If Costa can play in this CFC side, I definitely can't see why lukaku won't fit in.

If we want a better ball playing striker who can score goals? Yes!

Are they readily available? No!

I definitely won't want us to buy a player like morata with flicks and tricks plus quick one twos with no end result.

Drogba was one of the best strikers in Europe before Chelsea bought him. He won the Onze D'or for that year. He was Ligue 1 player of the year

I still remember his goal vs Real Madrid in the CL. He scored 5 goals in 6 CL games and 6 in EUropa including 2 against Liverpool, 1 against Inter and 2 against Newcastle. I still remember that ESPN headline in 2004 "Newcastle fail Drog test"

Drogba to Lukaku the gap is far

Being an upgrade to Costa shouldn't be the only criterion for buying a striker

I really like Lukaku, but I don't want a striker that can't bring us out a tough situation when the team isn't playing well or a striker that only contributes anything meaningful in the box

Lukaku might not be scoring top teams because of the midfield he plays with but then I haven't seen Lukaku bully any top defender ....He is too easy to mark out

After he did everything in Ur list, did Madrid or barca sign him?

Who is making any claims about lukaku being in the same bracket as drogba here?

Oga Dayo, I am not doing a direct comparison btw drogba n lukaku mbok! I am only pointing nateevs to the fact that drogba wasn't the perfect 9 when he joined CFC. He wasnt known for tricks and flicks either.

Barca had Etoo, Madrid had Ronaldo Lima and Raul

For top clubs after Drogba when Chelsea bought him, Try this

Marseille earlier revealed that Chelsea offered double what Juventus were prepared to pay for Drogba.

And Marseille president Christophe Bouchet said the fee for the striker could be as much as £26.6m.

"What Chelsea offered was the double that of Juventus' offer," he said. "We could not let such an offer go.

exactly at least he can showboat all day and run up and down all he likes. I watched their game against West Ham he couldn’t string two passes together, always hugging the ball for too long, until Ademola lookman was subbed in Everton had no meaningful attack.

I hear this thing time and again. Costa and Lukaku in terms of ball control, movements and tricks are worlds apart. Who perpetuates this falsehood? Just look at Costa's sublime play at the weekend for the chance that Hazard missed. Costa's goal against Southampton. And people continue to say If Costa can, Lukaku can. It's not true.

And it's not just myself saying this. I have Everton fans on the radio saying the same thing. I have Real, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern, PSG, Monaco, United, City, all not bothered. . . You think they don't know these things you know? Why do you think they are all not bothered?

This guy is 23 FFS. The whole world should be begging for his signature but they are not.
