In This Critical Moment, Why Is There No Igbo Politician In Opposition? by Nobody: 8:36am On May 05, 2017 |
Is it a result of lack of vision, poor leadership skills, cowardice, disinterest or crass stupidity? The SE bloc of the country is on the opposition side yet there is no meaningful man standing on the line for his people and attacking the centre, gathering headlines and seen as a strong man. Nnamdi Kanu; were he a politician would have been a perfect image but no, he is not, even if no man is too ambitious to succeed Zik in the East, from the onset, what stops any of them from assuming and taking chance of the leadership vacuum in the SE to carve a better and brighter political path for his people, through him. In this trying time when Buhari is sick and likely unable to contest 2019 election, strong Igbo politicians should be warming up for the election and forget the 2023 Igbo presidency hogwash because Power is not given but Taken. On the forefront of the Opposition are Fayose, Wike, Akpabio and FFK and should anything fruitful come out for PDP in 2019 Presidency, they will call the shots for they worked for it. Even Tinubu was very vocal when he was in the opposition, but in the East, everyone is a dumb lamb. Igbo politics need reassessment, it is shameful the way Politics is played there. Those coming to say SE are craving for Biafra, note that the Politicians are nott. 3 Likes |

Igbos are simply disadvantaged to play opposition politics, its bad enough that virtually all tribes in Nigeria view them with suspicion, playing opposition can only add more to their misery in Nigeria. They simply are not wired nor have the men to play that role 3 Likes 1 Share |

evilyoruba: This person has just made a very valid and eye opening point. Igbos have not been active in opposition to this govt, yet they have been the ones constantly maligned and attacked by Buhari, APC and the zombies. How come all these people are attacking a people that is not even fighting them? It simply shows that all those aforementioned people are afraid and intimidated of something in igbos 5 Likes 1 Share |

when they are secretly and openly decamping to APC, what do you expect? The Igbos surely have a very big chance to clinch the presidency in 2019 especially with the way things are going now but they are too politically naive to discern and begin to take their chances. 2 Likes |

I just don't understand some people, We did not vote for buhari,he labelled us 5%, we ignored him and move on,minding our biz. now, Buhari regime is shaky, those who mocked Igbos in 2015 now want us to dominate their [media and be criticising buhari. IGBOS,don't fall for their trick, their romance with the north is getting sour, they want rob Igbos into it with their trickish way. they are scared of the north reaction if anything happen to buhari. ignore them,Igbos. Those who voted in the beast will end up in its belly. 14 Likes 3 Shares |

Funnicator:and who is afraid of biafrexit? Or a referendum. Its nice to hear you talk about eggs and baskets. Our destiny is the eggs, nigeria is one basket and biafra is another basket. We have put our eggs in the nigerian basket for over a century now. We want to try the biafran basket too. Is too hard to get? If biafra fails we can try another. But then until we fail at a referendum we will continue to agitate 1 Like |

kherington: He never will, neither will he join PDP, a party with no seccession agenda. Secession is not enshrined in the Nigerian constitution so no way Kanu will become a Parliamentarian to move the motion, he can only keep lobbying till UN grants the region a referendum, of course UN laws are superior to Nigeria's. |
Re: In This Critical Moment, Why Is There No Igbo Politician In Opposition? by Nobody: 10:18am On May 05, 2017 |
Goke7: Exactly, that is my point. Buhari's presidency is very shaky and Fayose and co are already strategizing to be at the center, by hand-picking a party chairman loyal to them. What are Igbo politicians doing? #waiting for 2023 the "god given year for igbo presidency". Dumb, naive set. 2 Likes |

Some people are crazy. One disasterous regime after the other since 1999 and someone is talking about Igbo presidency? PDP and APC are just opposite sides of a disasterous political system. Frankly, both parties are as bad as they come. What will we Igbo gain from the presidency of a messed up place like Nigeria? So we can boast that we once held the presidency? And then what will happen? Flowers will fall from the sky? There more important things for Igbos to think about than the cursed office president of Nigeria. We should be thinking about self determination, resource control, self rule as well exiting the British colonial creation called Nigeria Seek freedom and all other good things will follow |

Basic123: All Easterners fled Nigeria and returned to "East" in 1967 shortly before Biafra was declared, but the "Oppressors" still went dragging them back into the dung of a nation. So why advising what they had tried? If you passionately want to hasten the Biafrexit, declare a referendum in the 5 SE states + Delta and Rivers states. If as much as majority prefers to remain, cool. Biafra will be shelved back into the locker. |
Re: In This Critical Moment, Why Is There No Igbo Politician In Opposition? by Goke7: 11:35am On May 05, 2017 |
Funnicator: The unnecessary and phantom agitations for biafra is also a distraction and product of the political naivety we are talking about. Even the Jewish angle the igbos are now displaying is something else which makes me wonder what the political elites in Igbo land truly stand for. Everything is becoming comical from the SE these days when by now we should seeing Igbo political heavyweights moving round the entire Nigeria political sphere positioning themselves strategically for 2019 like we see Atiku doing. Honestly what I see from Peter Obi these days looks impressive despite the drama, but am not too sure if it has any bearing for 2019 and to which political camp he belongs. We all want to see more pragmatic conversations and engagements from the SE political elites. no be everything be fight and gra gra which does not benefit anyone in the long run. 2 Likes |
