Virtually every major car manufacturer have their plants in SA. The cars produced are solely for them and never exported

What a joke!!! The minister is obviously not in tune with the realities in Nigeria, which are electricity, security and a good economic policies. Buhari administration is yet to make a headway in achieving it.

Proudly the Consumers-General of the Federation

Some manufacturing companies both locally and foreign owned have folded up in the past few years owing to the forever epileptic power issue in the kontiri.

The moment power supply is guaranteed 24/7, the economy would get much better cos a lot of businesses heavily depend on power[b]

but some of us know that the govt is not ready to solve the lingering power issue. I mean, picture Nigerians having power uninterrupted. The demand for refined fuel would drop drastically and a lot of money would be lost by the govt (especially the looters)
This cannot be doubted

[s]Adeosun said government was vigorously working to improve the country’s business environment by investing in transportation infrastructure and had made doing business in Nigeria easier.[/s]

He said that given the size of the Nigerian population and market as well as its economic recovery and potential for growth, Japanese investors were desirous of investing in Nigeria, but noted challenges in the areas of security, legal and power environments.

Rubbish!!! Decayed brain Ministers. Japan is talking about challenges in Power, she is talking about transportation.

The age of Methuselah has nothing to do with the wisdom of Solomon.

If at your age you don't know that factories run on uninterrupted power supply, there is nothing you can know.

Get properly educated and stop disgracing yourself online. [/quote][/s]

So that you can take light when they are producing, abi?

Yes, because you party was in power for 16 years and they could not provide power for Nigerians, yet you want Buhari and Fashola to provide the power in 2 years. Don't you think that you are not using your brain?

This guy needs to be deported to Sambisa forest. One of the setback affecting Nigeria.

He has a point though. What's the point setting up manufacturing facilities when critical issues facing our infrastructure and society at large (abysmal power supply, poor transport network, security issues, extremely harsh investment climate, etc) are yet to be addressed?
Re: We Need Manufacturing Plants, Not Finished Products, Adeosun Tells Japan by ideaz: 10:53am On May 05, 2017
I am 100% with Adeosun on this.

Our issues should be their opportunity. If we don't have power then focus your investment on power and if security is the issue then invest in our security. Every problem is an opportunity to those who really want to add value and not kill the system further.

How can Japan IR any serious minded country come and invest in manufacturing in this country called Nigeria where there is epileptic power supply.
Do you know how much to power a generator in a provision store monthly not to talk of a manufacturing company.
Please you politician should stop all this nonsense once and for all who do you think you are deceiving go and take care of the light situation and see if companies won't be running to Nigeria to invest.
Please Government take care of electricity other issues in Nigeria will take care of its self

He has no point.....and the moment you stop following stupid notions, dumb and not ill-conceived logic, useless thinking and brainless submissions, the better for you.

1. The minister spoke in simple terms - "teach us how to fish, rather than give us fish". Which country in her senses will still want to be import dependent at this age and time? Even America is forcing foreign companies to bring back their production plants and Human resource base to the US.
2. The Power argument is as useless as it sounds. It shows that not only are some of you not current, you refuse to think. Companies build cost of generating power into their capital cost. In todays world of alternative power, why in the world will someone be mentioning "NEPA" (he even said NEPA)?
3. Many of you do not study, read or follow trends in time. Currently, the power arrangements allow companies to generate their own power, or partner with Discos to generate embedded power. There are even off-grid options.

So if the only point you lot cling unto, albeit ignorantly and unintelligently, is the issue of power, then you are simply foolish.

He's being realistic. Without basic and essential infrastructure in place like power and transportation networks as well as friendly business and financial policies, no serious investor will sink millions into Nigeria for manufacturing, they will rather dump finished goods or build warehouses for storage and distribution of same because every business needs to make profit. The cost of doing business is already prohibitive and then u couple that with the prohibitive cost of generators and diesel? The government needs to put its house in order before wooing investors. Have u taken note of how many manufacturing plants and businesses have been shut down or relocated because of these issues and incessant policy somersaults?

This is beyond politics; the reality stares u and I in the face that manfacturing in Nigeria under the current circumstances is untenable because there is inefficient and insufficient power supply. It is the reason items produced in Nigeria are almost always more expensive than imported alternatives because of the cost of power generation. If u go the way of PDP and APC madness, then u will find that a great number of those that were in PDP are now chilling in APC so what happens? Or is it just the name of the party that does the job and not the persons or members of that party? 2 years is more than enough time to have made some improvement and sadly there is none. In 2 yrs this govt could have created industrial hubs in the geopolitical zones or most viable areas with dedicated, steady power supply. Why hasn't that happened?

Governance is ad continuum no matter what party is in control. The FG has failed so far, simple.

The moment a foreign sovereign government begins to invest in the basic security of another, the receiving state is finished. The Nig Govt is not some privileged society, it must get its job done ad it is the duty of citizens like u and I to hold them accountable and not coddle them like some sacred cows. Which country set up and maintains power and security in Japan?

Of course I can counter points without resorting to insult....but that is reserved for people who can reason beyond basic level. It is off-putting to see people whose reasoning capacity is so low that simple things become rocket science.

Meanwhile I've not started insults, I'm still warming up...........and deciding if I should waste my energy on folks like you. Bros, it a crying shame that you can hardly afford a reasoning capacity
