With Porto, it was a combination of luck and bad officiating. He won the championship with the help of the Old Trafford scandal. And please don't mention that he doesn't have stars at Inter Milan. Let me list a few names for you from that squad for you: Julio Cesar - world's #1 goalkeeper that period Defenders: Ivan Cordoba, Javier Zanetti, Lucio, Maicon, Marco Materazzi, Walter Samuel, Cristian Chivu, Midfielders: Dejan Stankovic, Thiago Motta, Wesley Sneijder, Esteban Cambiasso; Strikers: Samuel Eto'o, Diego Milito, Goran Pandev, etc. And don't forget that Barca was actually denied two penalties (one in Milan and one at Nou Camp). So we can properly conclude that he won that championship with the help of Nou Camp scandal. O pari jamel9: |

Reports prior to that game said Nacho was among the top 3 performers in the Super Eagles Camp. So no case for Nosa Igiebor. The case of Alampasu could be easily explained as Rohr choosing Experience over A rookie.... and since this is the goalie position, the most delicate role of any team's defence... then You have to excuse Rohr on that one. The quotes below just got me lolling....because it's so true. That's why I started calling for Barca to fire Enrique ever before he announced his resignation. As per Abidal, Pep started scapegoating him even before his health scare. Trust me, I know this because I have sources at Barca. He had to play Abidal because he was the only natural left back they had at that time. Forget Iheanacho, just look at how he treated Yaya Toure at ManCity! Toure had been their best player (and the stand-in captain) over the past 5 years and the man came there to treat him like a nobody! In fact, everything I have heard about Pep tells me that he's a racist. You'll definitely have a hard time convincing me otherwise. And by the way, I am a Barca fan, so I don't have anything personal against him either. O pari Mickael2: |

Dutch Coach – Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi Lacks Proper Football Education , He’s Getting One Now On loan Liverpool Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi isn’t getting enough games at Dutch side NEC Nijmegen as the forward is yet to get proper football education according to coach Peter Hyballa. Awoniyi joined Liverpool two summers ago after starring for the Nigeria U20 and 23 team, and was immediately farmed out on loan to German side FSV Frankfurt. Where he spent a season but failed to save them from relegation to the third division. At the start of this season, he was loaned out to Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, where he has struggled to get games after a fine start to life in the Netherlands, he failed to add goals to his game, and it cost him his spot in the team. Recently, he won back the trust of the coach and started in their last two games, but he is yet to find the back of the net, and there is every chance he could suffer another relegation as the team are currently battling to stay in the top division in Holland. Eric Schipper of Field Of Anfield Road (FOAR) met with the coach who revealed the Nigerian forward is some way away from reaching his potentials due to some basic skills which he lacks. “So when Taiwo left, I “bumped into” Peter Hyballa as mentioned before. And we had a bit of a talk with him. Hyballa gave us a great insight in Taiwo, both as a player and a person. Technically Taiwo’s ability on the ball is the thing he needs to work on the most. Peter basically told us he’s a very young lad who lacked a proper football education and he’s getting one now. Which can only be a good thing for Taiwo. As said before, Taiwo is a special kid. He works extremely hard and is fully focussed on football. Hyballa had to admit that perhaps it’s too much as you need to relax and let it all hang loose once in a while. For Taiwo it’s football and religion. Peter couldn’t really remember how the transfer went down, whether LFC approached NEC or the other way around, but Hyballa had seen Taiwo play for Frankfurt and liked what he saw”. **Daniel Martins Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/05/05/dutch-coach-liverpool-loanee-awoniyi-lacks-proper-football-education-hes-getting-one-now/ 2 Likes |

Danycrusoe: One of my favourite Nigerian defender of all time was unfortunately not featured on both pictures posted. I mean the late Uche Okafor. I still cannot belive Uche took his own life. A man in the threshold of something great as a pundit on Espn and a football coach in True United States. If not for the cold hands of death, he would have no doubt managed one of our national teams and contributed immensely to the growth of Nigerian football like Keshi, Siasia and Eguavone have done. I still have memories meeting him on a flight so many years before his demise. Great guy. 2 Likes |

John Ogu © Getty Images Ogu predicts glorious Eagles future by Calvin Emeka Onwuka Very early into the bruising friendly match between Nigeria and Senegal in London, skipper Ogenyi Onazi was taken out by Mame Diouf in an aerial challenge. He was replaced by John Ogu of Hapoel Beer Sheva. Ogu proceeded to help Nigeria get a hold in the match which was threatening to be in total Senegalese control. Any nerve before coming on, I asked him? “I was 100% fit. I had played over 40 games for my club and it was not my debut so I was pretty relaxed. I had noticed they wanted to bully us so I was determined not to let that happen." He spoke exclusively to supersport.com in London days after the friendly that marked a good return to the national team after a few years out. Ogu had played at the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup but was part of those who missed out on the World Cup the next year. Something he puts down to the bad experience of playing for Academica of Portugal at the time. “It started with a friendly in South Africa when the coach asked me to feign injury but I refused. We were African champions and I wanted to be part of the squad, playing for my country is too important for me,” Ogu says with a look that says he must have found it ludicrous the idea of not playing for Nigeria. “When I returned to Portugal everything changed and he stopped playing me. I didn’t take much notice. I continued working on my game but he never played me. It was only after the team list came out for the World Cup that he (the coach tried to be nice to me) but it was too late." Ogu looks relaxed now and he seems well and truly over his nightmare in Portugal. “Things happen for a reason I have always believed. Now I am in Israel and playing regularly, enjoying my football, winning league titles and back in the national team. I am very happy,” he told supersport.com. Yes, Israel. What is it like playing in that league? “Football is not so much about the league you play in. It is a team sport,” Ogu says earnestly. “It is a function of the quality of the players available to any team. The difference between this and the other top five leagues I can say is about the experience of the players in those top clubs in those top leagues.” Really, how about money? “Another factor affecting top players coming to Israel is fear or safety. Many players are worried about the situation in the country. The league is probably on the same level financially as Turkey but a lot of players probably feel safer going to Turkey,” he responded. Watching clips of Israeli league and when Hapoel were in the Europa Cup the passion of the fans can be so clear. You enjoy the passion? “Oh it is an incredibly passionate football country! The fans have always shown me love. They encourage me a lot. They appreciate what I do and always want me to do well. They make me very proud to play for the club and I enjoy winning with and for these fans.” At Hapoel, Ogu is one of the first names on the team sheet. For the Super Eagles, despite his experience, he is not a guaranteed starter. How does he deal with that? “First, I am one of those who will always respect the decisions of the coach. It is a dream to be called up to represent Nigeria and so it is an honour to be in the squad. So when I come to the Super Eagles camp I do not feel I am coming to replace anyone I just feel I am coming to help my country win matches and qualify for tournaments,” he said. John Ogu (left) and Chad's Ezechiel N'Douassel © Shengolpixs Ogu, along with a handful of others, is a bridge between the team that last qualified Nigeria for a World Cup and this new set trying to make Russia 2018. What does he make of these new players? “It is a privilege to train with these players I have to tell you. Before joining up with them, I know how proud I am when I am watching the Premier League on TV and I am seeing (Alex) Iwobi, Kelechi (Iheanacho), (Wilfred) Ndidi or I am watching the Bundesliga and there is Leon Balogun at Mainz 05. It is great I tell you. The future of our national team is quite bright,” his face lighting up all the time as he spoke. He enjoys talking about the Super Eagles as it brings excitement to his face. So, the current technical crew, what do you make of them? “They are incredibly professional and detailed. Before this match with Senegal, we watched videos and edited videos of the individual players. Mostly tailored to meet the individual players we would be playing against. Same thing happened before the match with Algeria. I trust them.” With back to back titles, do you want to finish your career in Israel? “One can never say never in football. I believe I am good enough to play in all the other leagues but I trust that whatever plans God has for my career will be fulfilled,” Ogu says with candour. “My main target now though is that Nigeria qualifies for the World Cup. Cameroon will have received a big boost with their Afcon win but we have to be determined and keep our heads and we will make it and make Nigerians happy.” Many Nigerians will join Ogu in praying that he meets his main target. He too will be hoping that he is fit enough and playing regularly enough to make the squad. You can mention three or four players that was world class and mind you most of them were in their declining curve. |

Icon79: I didn't say he is not a racist, evidence might support that but that's not my business. Fergie was a racist too so he won't be the first. My point is that he took a team of youngsters and won a treble in his first season, not double, TREBLE. Before 2008 what was Messi's achievement before then? He had the talents no doubt, but he could have been another Robinho if not for Pep. If you trace Xavi's rise and that of Iniesta too, you'd see Pep training them during their La Masia days(Iniesta I am sure but maybe not totally with Xavi). Did you know Busquets before? But he is easily the best DMF in the world. Or maybe you knew Pedro, or Bojan? I could go on and on. He achieved something there, end of 1 Like |

Talanted Nigerian Defender May Make Manchester United Debut Against Arsenal Nigerian defender Matthew Olosunde could make his competitive debut for the first team of Manchester United when they trade tackles with Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. The Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he will rest players ahead of next week's Europa League semi-final second leg against Celta Vigo. One name being bandied about by the English press to be called up to the first team for the trip to the Emirates is Olosunde. The former New York Red Bulls starlet signed for Manchester United in January 2016, and represented the U18 squad in his first season before he was promoted to the U23s. The 19-year-old Olosunde came third in Man Utd's Goal of the Month poll for April 2017 after amassing 14 percent of the votes. He was nominated for his stunning solo goal in the Dallas Cup. **Igho Kingsley Photo Credit : manutd.com Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22942 2 Likes |

Celtic-Linked Striker Odey Lands In Lagos After Strange Visit To Denmark Mountain of Fire striker Stephen Odey has returned to Nigeria without concluding his trials with Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland. The 19-year-old secretly turned up in Denmark at the beginning of this week to be shown around the facilities at the Wolves but ended up undergoing what appears to be a trial after playing in a reserve team fixture against FC Copenhagen. According to Mountain of Fire, Odey was never permitted to travel to Denmark and the Lagos-based club threatened to report FCM to Fifa if their player doesn't return to his homeland by Friday. Odey is the leading scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with 18 goals but fired blanks during the 45 minutes he spent on the pitch against FCK. The striker, who is on the radar of Celtic and Club Brugge in the summer transfer market, is expected to land in Lagos on Friday evening. **Igho Kingsley Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22943 1 Like |

Norway Beat Nigeria To Services Of League Top Scorer Omoijuanfo The top scorer in the Norwegian league Ohi Anthony Omoijuanfo is set to be handed his first call up to the senior national team of Norway according to reports sourced by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team. Ohi has taken the league in Norway by storm this season with seven goals in the first six games of the season, a tally which include two hattrick scored against Aalesund and Sarpsborg 08. Standing at an impressive height of 6ft 2 in, the 23 year old who is the present top scorer in the League in Norway is eligible to represent Nigeria and England at senior level, although he has played for Norway at various age levels, however his recent form has led to talks of a senior national team call up, which will potentially kill any hope of the forward switching allegiance to Nigeria in the future. He presently holds the record of the youngest ever goalscorer in the Norwegian Tippeligaen for his goal on the last day of the 2010 season when he found the back of the net for Lillestroem in a 4-5 loss against Stromgodset. Born to a Nigerian father and a Norwegian mother, he went into the record books for the above mentioned goal for scoring at the age of 16 and 300 days. A record yet to be matched. **Michael James Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/05/05/norway-beat-nigeria-to-services-of-league-top-scorer-omoijuanfo/ |

Moses Simon © Getty Images 'Simon's valuation will be addressed' by George Akpayen Moses Simon's representative, Tony Harris has told supersport.com that the exact valuation for the Nigerian international will be addressed "in the forthcoming weeks." KAA Gent technical director Michel Louwagie has made it clear that the club's winger Simon will only leave Belgium for the transfer fee of €20 million. "I still think so (that Simon is worth €20 million)," Louwagie told Voetbalmagazine. "Why are they able to sell in the Netherlands for amounts more than €30 million? Where is Memphis Depay now who PSV sold to Manchester United? Vincent Janssen, AZ's top scorer, went to Tottenham and hasn't played much. Simon is better. The trend is reversed: Wilfred Ndidi (joined Leicester City) in December, a few Anderlecht boys too. "Our financial pressure should not be underestimated, as we have spent a lot of money on infrastructure and transfers. If you want to grow and develop, you need to do that." However, Harris has his reservations about the price tag placed on the Nigerian international by KAA Gent and believes it "sounds more like a deterrent." Simon's representative further revealed that "there are several interests" for the player who has enjoyed a fine spell at gent since joining in January 2015. "There are several interests but there's a significant difference in what clubs want to pay and what Gent will like to receive. "Gent has been good for Simon's development, he has served the club very well and achieved great feats with the team. It's now his third season in Gent and Simon has made it abundantly clear that he wants to leave in the summer. "Twenty million? Sounds prohibitively pricey and sounds more like a deterrent. At the end of the day, something can only be sold for what someone is willing to pay for it so we have to be realistic. I'm in touch with the clubs and I know what they are prepared to pay. We will address the issue in the forthcoming weeks," Harris explained to supersport.com. Simon, 21, has managed five league goals and four assists for Gent this season. Nigerian Wonderkid & New Chelsea Poster Boy Picks Up 25th Goal Of The Season Nigerian wonderkid Ike Ugbo was on target again for Chelsea on Friday night but could not prevent the U23 squad from losing 2-1 to Derby County in their final game of the season. In the game held at iPro Stadium, the Rams had taken the lead after 29 minutes, only for the new Chelsea Academy poster boy to equalize seven minutes later. The England youth international was teed up by Kyle Scott before finishing confidently past goalkeeper Mitchell. Ugbo has been a clinical goalscorer for Chelsea youth teams this season, with his strike against Derby County his 25th goal of the season in all competitions. The 18-year-old netted 10 goals en route to Chelsea winning their fourth successive FA Youth Cup. **Igho Kingsley Photo Credit: chelseafc.com Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22944 2 Likes |
