Keep in mind Barcelona was in a steady decline towards the end of Rijkaard's reign. A team outplayed by Sevilla over and over again. Two seasons without a trophy.

Guardiola turning that Barcelona into one of the greatest sides in club football is nothing short of amazing.

Food for thought. Remember to wash the plates after scrapping it.

One of my favourite Nigerian defender of all time was unfortunately not featured on both pictures posted.
I mean the late Uche Okafor. I still cannot belive Uche took his own life. A man in the threshold of something great as a pundit on Espn and a football coach in True United States. If not for the cold hands of death, he would have no doubt managed one of our national teams and contributed immensely to the growth of Nigerian football like Keshi, Siasia and Eguavone have done.
I still have memories meeting him on a flight so many years before his demise. Great guy.

One of your favorites. But he was not a regular.

You made some good points sha. Although I totally disagree with the assertion that Messi would've "been another Robihno" if not for Pep. Leo is simply the MOST talented player to ever play the game and the cream always rises to the top.

I didn't say he is not a racist, evidence might support that but that's not my business. Fergie was a racist too so he won't be the first. My point is that he took a team of youngsters and won a treble in his first season, not double, TREBLE. Before 2008 what was Messi's achievement before then? He had the talents no doubt, but he could have been another Robinho if not for Pep. If you trace Xavi's rise and that of Iniesta too, you'd see Pep training them during their La Masia days(Iniesta I am sure but maybe not totally with Xavi). Did you know Busquets before? But he is easily the best DMF in the world. Or maybe you knew Pedro, or Bojan? I could go on and on. He achieved something there, end of

It will validate why he is being invited to the national team. If not for injury, he would certainly have had more games.

Hopefully, he marks his debut with a goal.

Rizespor Star Nosa Clears The Air : I Remain Committed To Super Eagles Whenever Rohr Picks Me

Rizespor star Nosa Igiebor has moved quickly to clear the air regarding reports in the local media in which he was quoted as saying that he has quit the Super Eagles, and has stressed that he did not grant an interview to the media.

The attacking midfielder's heart is still with the Super Eagles and he has promised to honour call-ups in future if he is picked by manager Gernot Rohr.

''My attention has been drawn to a story by an online website (www.owngoalnigeria.com) that I will no longer honour national team call ups again,'' said Nosa on Instagram.

''Let me use this opportunity to disassociate myself from this malicious report as there is no truth in it.

''I remain committed to national service whenever I am called upon. God Bless Nigeria.''

The 26-year-old Nosa has racked up 15 appearances for the national team since his debut five years ago.

Chelsea? Everton? Brighton & Hove Albion? Tammy Abraham does not know where he will be next season

Tammy Abraham has scored 26 goals for Bristol City

Tammy Abraham insists he does not know where he will be
playing next season as his loan spell at Bristol City comes to an end.

Abraham, 19, has scored 26 goals after a prolific spell at Ashton Gate from Chelsea that has seen him net 26 times and grab the attention of a host of Premier League clubs.

Leicester City, Everton and newly promoted Brighton & Hove Albion have all been linked with the striker, while it is not out of the question that Abraham could stay at Chelsea in a bid to fight his way into the first team.

When asked about his future in the build-up to Bristol City's game against Birmingham City on Sunday, Abraham said: 'I've heard a few bits, this and that, but I'm not too sure what I'm doing yet and I haven't spoken to Chelsea about next season.
"I'm focused here before I end up shooting off back to Chelsea."

Rashidi Yekini:

5 yrs ago today you moved to the great beyond.

The gap you created in the national team is still there.

I thank God and I'll say I was privileged to be among those you brought joy upon their faces.

I wept for joy when you scored Nigeria's first goal in that '94 World Cup. No other player deserved to have that record but you.

The goals record you created is still yet to be broken even 2 decades after.

You were a man that put Nigeria first when national team duty called.

Your 100% commitment was also always noticed on the field of play.

We miss you Rashidi (Yeking) Yekini.

Guys, Let's share our favorite moments of Rashidi Yekini.

There was this match we played during the qualifiers or the Nation's cup in 1994. Yekini lubed the ball over the head of the keeper and nodded the ball into the post. It was a very important match. I remembered when it was replayed people demonstrated by moving their heads the same way he did it and exclamated eeehhhh! grin

I loved that goal. grin

I was in the womb when he scored that goal, but then I grew up seeing a man on tv in a checkered green n white jersey grabbing the net nd shouting but surprisingly there was no one with him in the net, so I used to think he threw a big chance away.

not until when my dad explained how he scored Nigeria's first goal at WC that that was y he celebrated that way, I asked further what was he now saying in the post my dad said no one knows till now.

I asked again (I used to be and am still inquisitive) y was dere no one celebrating with him since it was our first WC goal n he told me that there was mafia n malice in the team especially against Yekini because he used to score lots of goals and he received most of the accolades n attention so others were jealous and didn't celebrate with him and that only Victor ikpeba went to meet him before he left the net.

he also said the failure of that team was caused by a certain mafia group in the team who saw themselves as big boys and the malice against Yekini which saw him usually isolated as he would be starved of passes. pls sir Icon4s is the above true or was it just rumours??

I also saw his pix when he played gateway united in the Npl in 2006 which happened to be his last clubside. I heard a lot about him but didn't see him play.

Dad said all those small countries that are now fond of making mouth when they want to play Nigeria dx days would already v conceded defeat once they wrre drawn against the SE during yekini's time and in the 80s as well cuz they know for sure they won't n can't beat us and that our team was very strong n good.

sir icon4s please tell indomi generation like me n thesupernerd a short story about the Green eagles as they were known

It was too obvious that there was rift in the Super Eagle's camp.

All u said na true. They were so envious of the guy and that was the cause of his depression. From that moment he never had anything to do with those envious fellows.

They thought they could do great things without him but we know dem fail woefully. grin

He cracked it to perfection at Bayern. People saying Pep did not crack it at Bayern are being unfair. He shattered almost all the records from winning the title in record time, to conceding the least goals to scoring the most goals.

The only thing he did not do was win the champions league, which is not a guarantee.

We are playing far better than Pellegrini's team. Our biggest challenge is conversion which we will sort out soon. Pellegrini can not coach City to play the way we are playing now. Pep has done a great job so far. He has my full backing.

grin grin grin The quotes below just got me lolling....because it's so true. That's why I started calling for Barca to fire Enrique ever before he announced his resignation.

As per Abidal, Pep started scapegoating him even before his health scare. Trust me, I know this because I have sources at Barca. He had to play Abidal because he was the only natural left back they had at that time.

Forget Iheanacho, just look at how he treated Yaya Toure at ManCity! Toure had been their best player (and the stand-in captain) over the past 5 years and the man came there to treat him like a nobody! In fact, everything I have heard about Pep tells me that he's a racist. You'll definitely have a hard time convincing me otherwise.

And by the way, I am a Barca fan, so I don't have anything personal against him either.

O pari

Pep recently said that Yaya Toure knows why he lost his place recently. That was a footballing related matter. In the first case, Guardiola put Yaya Toure's agent in his place and from now on, that menace will remain quiet.

No case of racism.
