arinzeejikonye:That is my state of origin, though I don't reside there. I've heard alot about Governor Obiano and his achievements, he also got the favor of the media, but some people still don't support his bid for a second term. It has left me wondering, if he is doing well why shouldn't they give him their mandate for a second tenure? why are they being so hypocritical? Although I like the competition, because it would bring about Development when one finds his way there when determined, but there's a need to Analyse the governor and other candidates well ahead of the election, to avoid throwing away a diamond while we were picking stones... |

Marcelo290: Yeah, Looking at the forthcoming elections critically, 1.i do wonder why we usually spend extravagantly, scarce resources that would be used for developmental and productive activities, all channelled to a wastefully consumptive electioneering to the detriment of other facets of our society that needs critical attention. Surely, not every Tom dick and Harry nor contender would wear the garb of robe, instead of this indiscriminate, imprudent wastage, just imagine, if a huge chunk of the money for the upcoming elections is redirected towards the building of more cottage industrial clusters for value chain addition of agro-produce and allied commodities, imagine, the wealth tripling and adding to the I g r of the state, creating employment, reducing poverty, etc 2. One thing I like the Anambarians, despite the fact that the Nigerian factor eulogises mediocrity over objectivity, they have a penchant for settling for the better choice, as this could be a case of choosing between the devil and deep blue sea. 3.looking at obiano's past antecedents, he got to readjust to improve on himself and fill up his loopholes, On his first missionary journey, many promises were made, today they seem unfulfilled, though work is still ongoing, however some of the major backbone and epicentre of the blueprint of his first victory seem like a facade, finding it's way into oblivion, without trace, making him look deceptive in his approach and lackadaisical in implementations. Though some quarters are raising eyebrows on his sincerity, because some of the m o u he signed seems like a save face, to clear every iota of skepticism, he should keep to his words and see to it that they become reality. The intrigues of make believe-propaganda, seems to be the new normal in Nigerian polity, If obiano really wants to succeed, he should give listening ears to objective critical criticism, and remember that posterity will be his judge. |

Jay254:I am in general agreements with that actors sentiments. Many nigerians load themselves with a false or rather tourist brochure image of kenya/kenyans. When they meet the real life kenya/kenyans, its a 360 degree flip from what they have been made to perceive. That's not the fault of the average kenyan but of the PR the govt has been pushing about our country for eons now. When i was a foreign student i had to undergo some very mean stereotyping from other students about kenyans, and i can assure you some of the bullies i met lost a few teeth, regrettably. 3 Likes |

leathalbeast:its good to hear Ghanaians and Ivorians see each other as family. You guys look alot like each other. The french/english thing is just plain foolish to divide yourselves, especially since the two countries share alot of ethnicities. You should avoid the stupidity Biya is doing in Cameroon against the "anglophones". In kenya, i take ugandans the same way, i see them as brothers since we share names and ethnicities with them. |

arinzeejikonye:You made sense... 1. This is common and relative to the Nigerian society, they spend extravagantly in campaigns, I could remember how GEJ spent billions of dollars during his, he suddenly became more cheerful, what could be more than the fear of loosing elections when incumbent? Money that could be used for good developmental ventures, when you perform well, there is no need for being afraid cos the majority masses are with you.. most Nigerian politicians are 'power drunk', so they could do anything to retain power or get it... 2. Anambra state from the onset, despise mediocrity, they want the best out of the best and it has really helped them, compared to some other states though, cos in Nigeria mediocre thrives more, when a governor builds one road, you see it everywhere, praising people for doing their job....Anambra has been lucky with Governors shaa 3. From my own point of view, I see Obiano as a propagandist, his face on everything including in bag of rice, clothes, Bread etc has further helped to buttress my point, he is so much into make believe more than he is into reality, people like us that don't reside in the state simply judge him with what the media has to tell us, which is somewhat deceiving atimes. He made various promises which are begging for fulfilment, though he has achieved some though, but his propagandist nature wont let us know when he is being serious or just trying to gain favor from the media, especially this one that the elections are near. It is good to constructively criticize our leaders, than running to their defense always. One thing I like about most Anambra governors is their penchant for paying workers their salaries when due, which other states have failed. What is your take on the Proposed Anambra ultra-modern International airport, do you think it's a good one? some argue that it's unnecessary since we already have airports in neighboring Enugu and IMO states, that he should had rather build an industry, others on the other hand see it as a welcome development since it would bring about investments and development as well and also aid in easy transportation of goods since Anambra as a whole is a renowned commercial state, can I get your take on this? 1 Like |

Marcelo290: The aetro-polis, The media razzmatazz didn't divulge enough intelligence on the project. From my comprehension, the project covers an international cargo airport within an adjoining sub-metropolis, as hotels, aviation refuelling storage facilitstions, lay back industrial clusters for agro-procession and value chain addition, especially for exportation, Estates, hospitality hotbeds in close proximity, ancillary aviation institutions, foreign embassies etc would be enmeshed into a fusion of the project, Anambra indigenes have one the highest number of private jet owners in nigeria, so the clarion for what they can call their own is increasingly gaining momemtum Nonetheless, My reservations about this includes, 1.why did it take so long, the adrenaline rush to it and the timing-towards election? 2.the company handling the project, do they have a track record of indulging in this sort of project, if yes how successful have they been? 3.despite they claiming that it is a ppp project based on build, operate, manage, handover, - the specifications of the agreement, duration and terms seems out of reach 4.why is it difficult to lay hands on the blueprint/prototype of the project. 5.the consortium handling the project, includes orient petroleum, who will refine and supply aviation jet fuel to the airport, my reservations here is that orient have been harping on building her refinery for a decade now, but it seems like a cock and bull figment of imagination, let alone being part of this cumbersome project, 6.what is the guarantee that after the election this won't be another abandoned elephant project? By sheer perception, the airport is long overdue as Anambarians have longed for it for many decades, factoring in how industrious, commercially inclined and business oriented the people are, this holds an immeasurable advantages, so in affirmation, I am for the airport too. What I think, the government equally needs to consider is rail system network linkage, since cargo here is the bone of contention, rail transport, will make Anambra avoid the lagos mistake, where heavy duty truck will be in decline on the roads while goods are moved via the rails for avoidance of chaos, and improving the durability, longevity of the roads The viability of some of this airports, is another issue entirely, the concession exercise needs to be fastracked , the enugu international airport terminal, I guess would be done before the year ends, the runway is in mess, some of the equipments and facilities are obsolete, with low air traffic, though we must keep faith alive, the federal government needs to keep up to her responsibilities. Imo state is completing their cargo terminal, in anticipation for reimbursement from federal government, I hope it blossoms into fruition. We need every development we can get in the region, for me, since it is a ppp and is based on popular demand, they should get on with it. The watch word here would be viability, sustainability, and longevity, after all some cities got a handful of airports despite being a stone throw from sister cities. |
