hotmomma: I don't know d place it's somewhere in surulere but that was my sil's description of how they do it. She told me they use razor to cut of d fore skin and then use this lit local lantern to burn off something. I've not experienced it. Two pple will hold d child firmly while d woman do d circumcision. They were of d opinion that men circumsized traditionaly satisfy women more because d tip of their penis is well curved. I will never advise anyone to do this to their child cos of infection and it take longer to heal |

Sansa143:3 weeks is still ok. He would cry but when you breastfeed him he would sleep off and hopefully won't feel the pain afterwards. My nephew was 2 months when they did his. |

Gr8fulHeart:My son was circumcised when he was 2 weeks old. He screamed bloody murder when the procedure was going on but as soon as they brought him out he stopped crying. I breastfed and he slept like he normally does. He didn't feel pain again after that. Ring fell off in 7days and I did it in a private hospital |

Sansa143: My son was circumcised when he was 2 weeks old. He equally spent one week in NICU. He also took his first immunization on the same day so he had double dose of pain. Don't worry 3 weeks is still OK. He will only feel pain when it's done but after the procedure he won't feel it. Just make sure you breastfeed when they bring him to you |

My baby just cried for less than 5 mins and didn't feel anything after that till it came off. We circumcised on day 8. It will look red during the healing process even me I was worried but it doesn't bother them at all. Maybe because it was done early but even pcm was unnecessary. He wasn't cranky or fussy at all. I think oyinbo people are mostly against circumcision so they tend to blow it out of proportion. Gr8fulHeart: |

Gr8fulHeart: Dear mama, just go with open mind that your baby will cry, na the work wey dem sabi do be dat. He will only cry at that moment, although severe cry sha, but your breast will settle everything, he will be fine. All baby boys go through the phase. 1 Like |

Many hospitals have different methods some.numb while some.don t. I.can't tell if my son was numbed cos I didn't ask but the young man was brought to me after a while, he was taken to my mum first and was already calm when he was given to me... ... but I saw other baby boys screaming their lungs out before ours was done and I kept wailing and crying for them in fact I was reluctant to have him do it but my doctor said he will be gentle and it won't pain him. I didint see m y son cry afterwards so.can't say if its cos of numbing med or Not. If you are a cry baby like me mbok let your mum/mil or dh handle it and you can sit afar where you won't hear his screams that's if your hospital don't numb the area first. Best of luck Cc gr8fulheart |

hotmomma: I was damn serious. The child will be sore and in pain for days to come. You have to keep d legs apart for some days to avoid touching d sores. Oh lord, I can't imagine this. @ sugah, the older d child is, the more they cry. @ 2 months, babies have started expressing their emotions. They have more awareness more than their early days. The extended cry may not necessarily be because of d pain but d discomfort and anger that something like that was done to him. Some of them show their temperament early. I'm not a child psychologist but I'm just saying it from observation. Environment factors may determine other things but d intrinsic one can only be managed. 2 Likes |

Liftedhands: I don't think so. That was d primitive way of doing it before technology came. I think there was a time they do it with knife or sharp iron before razor blade was invented. I'm sure some children must have died from some of these practices in time past. Thank God I wasn't born then. 2 Likes |

Liftedhands:My neighbors growing up never circumsized thier babies or toddlers....they wait till they are about 14/15 before doing it and they do it in the house. the crying, no wailing was nightmarish! They were from the north (those Arab looking ones) and had different families living there at different times cos they kept subletting to thier relatives....so we witnessed quite a number of circumcisions 3 Likes |
