Telcos To Sack Workers In Cost-cutting Move by Nkemakonam62: 7:00am On May 08, 2017
Indications emerged at the weekend that telecommunication operators in the country are considering cutting cost and sacking some of their workers, citing the effects of Nigeria’s first economic recession since 1991.

According to those who know about this but are not authorised to speak to the media, the telcos are lamenting harsh operating environment and regulatory headwinds.
On April 28, 2017, MTN sacked 200 workers and 80 of its contract workers.

The development stirred uneasiness among other workers of the company and those of other telecom operators.
Analysts are of the belief that the challenges confronting telcos have taken toll on them, especially in their revenue. They also see a situation where the operators may look for dishonest ways to keep afloat except NCC and other relevant agencies closely monitor them.
When the telcos were reached for comment some of them said they will get back to us but did not, while one said he can’t speak on that.

Na wah o!

Naw so so sack in this recession era... Creating more problems (more unemployed people) does not help the economy though... It will have been better to slack salaries than outright sack.

This guy above me sha... You just stole my FTC from under my nose!!!

Not coz these companies are cutting costs like they're making losses. The deal is, their ogas aren't making as much profit as they used to make, their allowances are now being affected. The only way to sustain, maintain their statuses is to sacrifice those lower ranked officers.

We are in for the rough times in this country. Nothing is working, only God can put smile on masses face. Even this continous pressure is cutting life span to halves on daily basis.

That product you are talking about is worthless. I have one right here in my house. It does not work except if you want to boil 1ltr of water or iron a shirt for an hour.

Kindly suggest one bill. wink wink wink

All these while when MTN was making the highest profit from their Nigeria operations compared to all other markets where they operated the bills were okay.
