What has reciprocity got to do with exchange rate used ...... the fee is fixed yes at $160 based on "do me i do you ".... yes that not in debate .

What i been going on about is the exchange rate used cannot be higher than even black market

You keep going on about exchange rate over and over again but when American embassy were using 198 naira to the dollar exchange rate as directed by CBN even when the market rate was far higher i did not see you complain about that.

It doesn't matter if the embassy is using black or blue market exchange rate the point is that the reciprocal policy has to apply.

using 198 as directed by CBN. I should complain about it

Are they not governed by CBN so if they are using the rate as directed. Why should anyone complain...... Is that a favour done or what they are expected to do..... na wa. That why people get away with anything in naija . When you expect them to use market rate and go against CBN directive

Direct your complain to CBN and the Nigerian govt. The American embassy is not doing anything wrong.

@bold.. I believe FG/CBN is giving it to them at official rate because I read it before but I can't remember, maybe when CBN brought new policy and stated that official rates for foreign missions or so

A point about the visa fee charged:

All U.S. missions (all Embassies and Consulates around the world) use reciprocity when charging visa fees. It is a negotiated fee between the two governments. This fee is almost always the same fee that is charged to U.S. citizens who wish to get a visa to that country. In rare cases, such as with Nigeria, the fees differ. With regard to Nigeria, the United States charges less for a U.S. visa ($160) than the Nigerian government charges U.S. citizens ($210).

A couple points about the visa fee charged and the exchange rates used:

2) We are required to use a bank rate that is contracted to us. If you look at the "official" rates used by other banks, you will get an idea of what the exchange rate is. We do not set the rate charged to you. That is set by Nigerian officials and Nigerian banking institutions.

VO

Hello VO

Thanks for taking the point to clarify and you raised a good point in no 2. I checked the rates used by the bank as of friday and none is more than 380 naira to 1 usd. Also the black market is currently 385. ...... The US embassy rate of 400 is above what Nigeria banking institutions are charging. ..

if this is caused by Nigeria officials then i guess there is a need to use the media to check who so ever set that rate

The banks set the rate...I thought as much

@bolded, none is close to this 400. We have an idea of the rates, that's why we are against 400.

Hello guys, I need your advise on what to do as regards sending my transcript from University of Benin to ETSU where I intend doing my masters program.

I travelled from Lagos to Benin earlier this year to request for my B.Sc certificate as well as my transcript to help facilitate my application. I learnt application and processing of transcript is now done online via ET-Xchange ( an online transcript processing firm) . I registered on the site and filled the online form, ordered and paid for the transcript on March 22nd and it was clearly written it will take three weeks to apply and send the transcript to ETSU.
To my surprise , after three weeks, the status was still on "processing". I called their customer care and they seem not to know the reason for their incapability.
Now its already six weeks and no explanation from them.
Now I am really confused on what to do. Is there any other method I can use to send my official transcript from uniben to ETSU?
Those who have done it should please advice.
Helo I also finished from uniben and I got my transcript last month getting ur transcript from uniben is usually a very crazy and hectic one expecially if u don't know an insiders or u didn't walk up to any one in exams and records I have a Frend that also applied online 2months ago till date her transcript has not been sent, I don't know if its like that too for other schools but for uniben ehhh Na gbeke u enter. to caught the story short just go to uniben don't apply online especially if its urgent if you need help Dm me I wud send you a number of a woman dat can help you process and send ur transcript in 2weeks she helped me with mine Good luck

You are wrong. Embassies uses reciprocity policy.(do me i do you God no go vex), but some Nigerians as usual will not be objective.

What is Reciprocity?

See whether do am I do u or do dem I do dem. The official rate ought to be used. Nobody is saying its not 160 here and 180 there. Why would they use unofficial value. 400 to a dollar by the embassy is so not fair on Nigerians

Will it be fair to set the visa fees at $210 and use N385 official rate or $160 and use N400 rate?

The best thing to do is research schools yourself based on your own criteria and come back here to ask if there is any red flag or experience of people that have applied to that school. If you don't have any idea about the whole process and to save you some stress start from this website http://graddecision.org/ to know the application process, 2) Search for schools using a) www.msinus.com b)www.gradschools.com c)www.usnews.com d) www.4icu.org
