Dear Vo , pls I want to ask a question. I have applied for Usa visa with my family 2 times and was denied, I think the reason why we were denied the second time was because of my hubby's change of job function which madam bendel as explained to us in my second transit.
I want to ask now, should I apply with my kids alone or should still apply with my family.
2nd question is should I change my country of visit to California, Atlanta, Chicago or I should still visit maryland that I have always wanted to visit?.
Pls ur urgent response will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Will it be fair to set the visa fees at $210 and use N385 official rate or $160 and use N400 rate?
This point is a very sensitive point... Guys if the visa fee is taken to $210 @ N385 to dollar as official rate, or $160 @N400 to a dollar.
Which is better?
Its clear that we will be in Hot soup if Embassy follows reciprocity Law.

It good to see some Bloggers / Media are raising awareness on the New US Embassy Fees

https://www.viva-naija.com/us-embassy-nigeria-increases-fees-despite-falling-exchange-rates/

http://www.stelladimokokorkus.com/2017/05/us-embassy-new-fees.html

Cc VisaOfficer , Lagosniv , Abujaniv
In my opinion what they are raising awareness for doesn't make sense, Nigeria charge US citizens about $210 for visa fee while they charge us $160, if they use the rate of #400/$, it is still less than when they charge us the equivalent of $210 at #385/$. This awareness might result in them charging us the normal $210 and I am sure no one will be able to say anything them

It'll be right to do the right thing by using the official rate. If it's $160 use official rate if it's $210 use official rate shikena

This is what iam thinking... This thing can actually back fire ooo...
They can just revert visa fee to $210 for only Nigeria and set the exchange rate at the official N385. Meaning visa fee will be N80k which is disastrous oo..

It's a good school really. But I want to ask people schooling in the US already, is it compulsory to pay for meal plan while residing in school hostels? And the tuition fee payment must it be payed at once or?

Helo I also finished from uniben and I got my transcript last month getting ur transcript from uniben is usually a very crazy and hectic one expecially if u don't know an insiders or u didn't walk up to any one in exams and records I have a Frend that also applied online 2months ago till date her transcript has not been sent, I don't know if its like that too for other schools but for uniben ehhh Na gbeke u enter. to caught the story short just go to uniben don't apply online especially if its urgent if you need help Dm me I wud send you a number of a woman dat can help you process and send ur transcript in 2weeks she helped me with mine Good luck
Its too unfortunate that etx and uniben is known for this. I applied since January 31, till now transcript hasn't been dispatched to my school. Its only the transcript that is holding my application processing down. The best thing is go there yourself and get someone who will help u fast track it. Its a shame to ETX that their customer care knows nothing about customer service. They will never give feedback if they promised.

There are tuition payment plans for most school. For meal plan it's an undergraduate thing. It might be complusory if staying in school accomodation. Not sure tho.

Yes there is. You should first of all admit that you LIED . Don't even try to scuttle a way around it explaining some stories that don't match because they know you lied already. Admitting your mistake is the first step to resolution and If the VO feels like pardoning you, you can get the visa.

PD,

Thank you! I will try.

using 198 as directed by CBN. I should complain about it

Are they not governed by CBN so if they are using the rate as directed. Why should anyone complain...... Is that a favour done or what they are expected to do..... na wa. That why people get away with anything in naija . When you expect them to use market rate and go against CBN directive

You have time to argue with justwise, we are talking about exchange rate higher than CBN and BDC rate and he is talking about fee between each country when he realized that you made a valid point and he didn't want to agree with you, he twisted it back to exchange rate and asked why didn't you complain when it was on official rate but he forgot that the main topic for the discussion was rate and not fee but later reversed back to it coded.

I don talk my own and I go still talk am if our government is not using us to do business this can't occur. I don't blamed them because majority of them don't have foundational knowledge of the post they are holding since they all read bus admin, bus management, marketing business and all related to business as diploma and degree..

Let's get things straight here, they owns the dollar which is their currency while we owns the naira which is our currency, if they charged $210 there won't be issue as long as CBN and FG stopped using the citizen to do business.

FG/ CBN should please abolish BDC or suppress BDC to difference of below 10 to official rate which i believe they can do but they don't want to do it since they are using us to do business as usual and exchange rate will be below 200 as official rate..

A point about the visa fee charged:

All U.S. missions (all Embassies and Consulates around the world) use reciprocity when charging visa fees. It is a negotiated fee between the two governments. This fee is almost always the same fee that is charged to U.S. citizens who wish to get a visa to that country. In rare cases, such as with Nigeria, the fees differ. With regard to Nigeria, the United States charges less for a U.S. visa ($160) than the Nigerian government charges U.S. citizens ($210).

VO

Thanks for this.. Kudos!

Now walspring my question is, if There is a chance they will reduce the rate, can this be done since many ppl may have already paid the N64k. Wont it be unfair to the applicants if all of a sudden they take it back to N54k? Secondly, Didn't they do consulatuons with CBN and other stake holders before they set this new rate?
Lastly there is a contradiction here on the part of the VOs. Visa officer here said the rate was set by the bank. On the other thread, AbujaNIV said they were the ones that set the rate. Me aff tire.

Won't it be interesting if that happens? I guess the US embassy pegged the visa fees at $160 even as Nigerian embassy charges $210 because of recession in Nigeria.

Hello VO

Thanks for taking the point to clarify and you raised a good point in no 2. I checked the rates used by the bank as of friday and none is more than 380 naira to 1 usd. Also the black market is currently 385. ...... The US embassy rate of 400 is above what Nigeria banking institutions are charging. ..

if this is caused by Nigeria officials then i guess there is a need to use the media to check who so ever set that rate

Can you imagine our own official at the banks using us to do business.

These same set of people will still get dollars at official rate from CBN and sell it to people at BDC rate. They are collecting from Paul to enrich themselves and people loosing money to them but they don't want people to lose money to MMM saying its a scam as if they ain't scamming people back door.. gringringrin

Life itself is not fair and I have never read any book that says life will be fair to people even the bible didn't say life will be fair when he talked about wickedness in the highest places.

By now you should understand that exchange rate is not stable and visa fee can go up or down. It can only go down if FG/CBN bring the rate to 200 per $1 and BDC is 10 naira above official rate which I don't think will happen in the next 2 years

Just expect the unexpected after 12th of May. If I am not wrong there was no contradiction Visa fee was set by US embassy while exchange rate was set by the bank in collaboration with the embassy. gringringrin

You guys have twisted the whole point of the argument. Are we fighting the visa fee or our government fx policies because I dont understand at all. US embassy is independent and at such, its not our place to force an exchange rate on them, for a start why are their citizens not fighting the $210 we charge them for Nigeria visa fee when they charge us $160? They can as well start charging us $210 and lets see whether its not the grass that will suffer.Lets separate the cbn bad policies from this issue please. If you ask me, creating too much awareness about this may result in what will not benefit the common man in Nigeria.
