HopeAtHand:Really So what do you have to say about Barista Uche Okwukwu, the current serving Secretary General of Ohaneze In'igbo? 1 Like |
Re: Igbo Land by HopeAtHand: 9:42am On May 09, 2017 |
blues20: everytime, Uche Okwukwu is the case to point out. As an Ikwerre reject, good to know he has duly found solace in the palms of the Igbo. We do not envy him, he is exercising his inalienable right to free association. But it should impress on you that Uche Okwukwu decision to call himself an Igboman is the sole reason Ikwerres refused to vote for him when he contested election into RVHA. He cannot make a mockery of our collective cause and then ask us for votes. He is so unpopular amongst us, an absolute reject. He shouldnt forget to come and carry his belongings from Elele to Nnewi or Ekwulobia. 7 Likes |

HopeAtHand:When did Uche contested for RVHA? The last time I checked he ran for office was against Amaechi, which he honorably stepped down, as a result of prodding from eminent Ikwerres, so as not to create discordant opposition from within. Can you educate us more on the bolded? How do you mean reject? Was it a pronouncement carried out by the elders in Elele clan or you are just speaking from the fringe of your imagination. 2 Likes 1 Share |

blues20:Yes Arochukwu people speak fluent ibibio It cant be an "igbo" version cause it is not "igbo" language, the same way kachikwu & kachukwu is the same thing according to you |
Re: Igbo Land by HopeAtHand: 12:21pm On May 09, 2017 |
blues20: The answer to your question is there in my comment. He contested to represent Ikwerre state constituency in Rivers HoA and lost. He was clearly a better candidate, more intellectually sound than Amaechi but lost because his people consider him as one who wouldnt represent us squarely given that he considers himself an Igbo. That is the rejection im talking of. 2 Likes |

HopeAtHand:You don’t have a point here. As at the stated time, Amaechi had more political clout than Uche and also banked on Odili/Marshal Harry political influence to win that election. I was in my early teen then, but we knew what played out. Uche did not loss because he was pro Igbo, but because of Amaechi political tact and doggedness..... #fact. 2 Likes |

Arochukwu, sometimes referred to as Arochuku, or Aro-Okigbo, (pronounced Aruchukwu) is the third largest city in Abia State (after Aba and Umuahia) in southeastern Nigeria and homeland of the Igbo subgroup, Aro people. It is composed of 19 villages with an overall leader called Obong Aro. Arochukwu is a principal historic town in Ibibio land. It was also one of the cities in the Southern protectorate targeted by the British colonial government. Several historic tourist sites exist in the city. The mystic Ibini Ukpabi shrine, the slave routes and other relics of the slave trade era are frequently visited by tourists. It is also in the food belt of Abia state where most of the staple foods are produced. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arochukwu Modified: HISTORY OF THE AROS By MAZI. NGOZI. UKWU.OKORONKWO OBINKITA VILLAGE, AROCHUKWU. Arochukwu is a small town located at the Southern end of Abia State in Nigeria. The Aros, as other Igbos, migrated from the Middle East to their present location in then Eastern Nigeria. You cannot mention Christopher Columbus who discovered America, without a short history of the Indians who owned the land. Also, in retrospect, the Aros came and won the land from the inhabitants, the Ibibios, after series of wars. These wars had a historic impact on the town. For instance, the leader of the Ibibio warriors who fought the war was captured and slain at Oro Village and this is why Oro became the chieftancy village. Amikpe Obinkita became the center where these defeated warriors were judged. This also is why all Aro villages assemble at Obinkita during the Ikeji festival. Any village that is not represented was fined by the entire Aro. This still exists as I write. more on: http://www.aro-okigbo.com/history_of_the_aros.htm Arochukwu, sometimes referred to as Arochuku, or Aro-Okigbo, (pronounced Aruchukwu) is the third largest city in Abia State (after Aba and Umuahia) in southeastern Nigeria and homeland of the Igbosubgroup, Aro people. Blues20 is either a fake Ebonyi man, or trying to cover a well known secret about Ebonyi people. For those who care to know the truth, the truth is that Ebonyi is actually a mixed state. The Ethnic groups of Ebonyi state are as follows: Igboid tribes: Izzi, Ezaa, Mgbo Idomoid tribes: Igede Ekoid tribes. i.e Kelle/ Kukelle, Mbembe, Ayigha Etc Isolate: Oring / Orri www.nairaland.com/attachments/2893307_ebonyistate_jpegd230cb7726de6ed3e170287a36a48d47 The towns of Effium, Okpoto, Ntezi etc in Ebonyi are not Igbo towns. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kele_people_(Nigeria) 1 Like |

Imo's the only 100% pure Igbo state, nwa Abakaleke. Anambra and Enugu a little mixed with Igala, Enugu with Tiv and Idoma and Abia with Ibibio. Ndi Igede aren't even recognised as having a significant presence in Ebonyi. 2 Likes |

Probz: Yes, Anambra Igbos are a little Mixed with Igala, then there is another extra 2% that still self identify Igala. Enugu is not little, it is heavy. I mean like more than 65% of Enugu North Zone are converted Igalas. There is no tiv there, Just Igala and some Idoma. The Zone in Lemon color below. Igedes are in Ebonyi trust me, but I don't know what percent you want the to get to, before they are considered significant there. They are native to the Oju and Obi local government areas Benue State of Nigeria. Other Igede can be find in and Izzi Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State, and Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State 1 Like |
