KaptainAfrika:
1. Is that convention not for US-BASED UNILAG ALUMINI?
2. Why is a NIGERIAN-BASED UNILAG ALUMNI applying for a US VISA for an event that's meant for US-BASED UNILAG ALUMNI?

Can you provide answers to those two questions, because you might be asked that.

the convention isn't meant for Us-based unilag alumni only... it's a reunion meant for unilag alumni worldwide.. Any Unilag alumnus can apply!

To what betterment is this to you as an individual considering your finances and other ties? Why and how is this purpose of travel important to you? Who's financing this trip? Why exactly do you feel someone will believe you will ever come back home considering the circumstances of yours earlier highlighted by you vis-a-vis current day Nigeria situation?

I understand everything is possible, just asking to be clear sha!

- Any UNILAG alumnus can apply for what? US VISA or to attend the event?
- How will this be of value to your career here in Nigeria?
- What is your budget for this trip? (I heard this when last I went for an interview)
- How much is a flight ticket to and fro your destination? (I heard this when last I went for an interview)

(possible questions, you might face.) cool All th best!

I want you to take a few steps back...
Lookarit critically...
Former students of unilag...
Living in Naija, not the ones resident in the US
Having their alumni meet in the US
In this recession...

No travel history...

Good luck however

This is complicated as calculus. First, you have to apply in the country of primary residence. Second you will need to have strong ties in that country. But this one that you came to study and ended up staying albeit legally in the UK or is it Canada, will probably make the VO suspect that you wish to do the same in the US.
But damnnnnnn!

Hi everyone,

I was at the embassy today. My appointment was scheduled for 9:30am, got there 8:50am and found a long queue of about 100people. I walked up to the lady at the main entrance and said to her I have got a baby with me and that it so windy and cold; and she said I should just walk in..... so I didn't have to join the queue.

9.20am I was right in front of the V.O

V.O - morning ! Passport please.
Me: morning, how are you today?
V.O - Not too bad. Where are you visiting and for how long ?
Me: Chicago/4days
V.O- where do you work ? And your wife
Me- blah blah
V.O - how long have you been living in the UK?
Me: 7years
V.O- your visa approved ! And you get your passport in few days.

9:37am I was already out of the premises.

Dear Nairalander. Please, I intend to apply for a Tourist visa in few months time. Although, I was denied when I applied in the UK as a student, on the ground of :NO TIES, that I should go and apply from Nigeria- Was surprised, even as an MBA student with valid UK visa and my programme was still running. I applied for a conference, then in 2015.

Now I am getting an invitation to visit a friend in the US, will like to know what are the documents needed? I work for a firm 9-5 Job as a Training Manager.

check your appointment profile page to schedule a date for the face to face interview mind you it's free of charge. The reason they called you is because you're applying from Nigeria not UK.

There should a dialog box with ''will you like to schedule a date for interview''
I think something like that.

Dear Gurus in the house, please i applied for visit visa last year but was rufused now i intend re-applying. I decided to google the relative who gave me invitation letter as i hope to use the same info as i did last year but i saw a report on google that he might be jailed for not paying his workers tho that was july 2016. please how would that affect my application. Please gurus
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by Astonestone: 12:09pm On May 09, 2017
Yes but whenever I select the option the dialog box to select interview date it opens a plain white background showing no date or calendar. I've been refreshing since last night and even cleared cache still nothing

If you wanted to hire a staff and discovered that the relative she's living with is a fraudster , how would you view that application? Its common sir ma. Its been said here severally, you Do NOT need an invite. So why do you want to yoke yourself to someone with a record when u have no reason to?

ISt step to success. Go through the us embassy website and check the various types of visas and the one that would suit her best cos its not a B visa . And its B visas that we discuss here.
Good luck and happy future nupitals

What's on the record is on the record. Nothing that can be done about that.
Fill the new form properly. Indicate why you were denied before. Hope your personal circumstance has changed. If asked about the relative answer honestly.
U may be asked why you are no longer visiting your relative. That's your opening. Tell them its cos you discovered he has legal issues and u don't wanna be tied to that

Please what am I not doing right? Was at the Lagos embassy today for medical purpose to fix an artificial arm for my left arm. Had a traumatic amputation of my left arm on 27th February 2017 due to a fatal accident from Abuja to Lagos I had the previous day. I was still denied visa and already have a doctor's appointment in the U.S. for May 25th at Houston Texas. I also have made half down payment too. Though I wasn't given an opportunity to tell the visa officer i have made half payment cos he didn't ask and didn't check my document/payment receipt. The last question he asked was about my sponsor, my paternal cousin and I told him about my budget of 15000dollars and what my cousin does for a living. I also had his account statement as he works with an oil servicing firm as a Sales Manager/Head for African region geocomplex which is credible enough. I will be going back very soon to the embassy again as I really need to put an artificial arm which will boost my confidence again and remove depression. Please what did I do wrong?

You did nothing wrong but things like this do happen but looking at your application from the V.O's angle will you really return to Nigeria after the surgery? remember U.S Medical system is one of the best in the world. If you're sponsoring the trip and treatment,I'm sure the V.O will hesitate in denying you. By the way how old are you?
