What's on my mind Really?

Why is it that only Presidents of Northern origin get
killed through assassination or poisoning? From Tafawa Balewa and Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna, to Gen Murtala Mohammed to Gen Sani Abatcha to Umaru Musa Yar'aduwa and now President Muhammadu Buhari. Yet no one is wailing?

The former capital, Lagos, and major cities of the then regional government, including the doom-spelling Oil investments and Oil infrastructure, were all built with agric proceeds, Cocoa, Ground nut & Cotton - Ground nut and Cotton from the North, nobody wailed, no one agitated for derivation or sovereignty then.

All economic activities, economic infrastructure, programs and projects are restricted to the South, Lagos and South (as bribe by Northern leaders?) no one is wailing. Oil is going extinct as the world's major revenue earner, the rich mineral resources of the North is not being explored, no one is wailing.

Umaru Yar'adua's dredging project to extend water ways to the Northern part of the country has been abandoned, no one is wailing. Clamp down on land borders of the North from OBJ's time through GEJ to even PMB era, with negative antecedents on economic activities of the North (which would have created additional jobs in the Customs anyway), the clamp down is still sustained, no one is wailing.

The Southerner can acquire land in any part of the North to build house(s), Church and pursue normal (and abnormal) businesses without discrimination, the Northerner (Hausa Fulani) cannot do that in the South south.

In fact the Northerner dare not wear his kaftan dress and move freely in the major towns of the South south where as the Southerner wears his three-quarter, skirt or tight dress and move freely in any part of the North. Is the North too docile or too tolerant? Isn't tolerance the major ingredient of Unity? Now another eminent assassination in the way, on one of the most astute and most disciplined son of the North (observers close to state house murmur gas poisoning), just like Yar'adua, the Presidency is quiet about it.

Yet it is the North that is always being castigated. Someone should take the driver's seat and develop our economy also. When this was experimented with the last dispensation, massive corruption of monumental scales got in the way. The result of which we are experiencing presently. So corruption must go first...

One thing I know for sure is that at 72, Baba has taken the job to fight corruption in Nigeria, which is larger than life itself, for the future of Nigeria and Nigerians... for you and I, not for himself. Afterall what's the average life expectancy of Nigerians. Perhaps he knew there could be consequences, perhaps...

Now you want Baba to resign, and you think it's that easy? So simple? If Baba can save his life by resigning, and will not be tracked down town to Daura and get killed, I suggest resignation is the best for him. But as it is now, Baba is exposed to situations and information about Nigeria which even the Media and Nigerians could not handle. Had the media and the youth been ready, no single corrupt office holder will walk the streets in broad day light in Nigeria. So simple resignation will not just do. He has to finish it (his portion at least) or die trying!

LONG LIVE PMB, LONG LIVE NIGERIA!

Bad logic can you really brag about being docile and economicly stagnant with a straight face. Half of these things should be points of contention. Then most of these changes were due to same centralized of governments reducing states tax productivity. Lastly leaders allowed many productive areas to wallow in obscurity e.g mining. Poverty and bad policies correlate on macro level.

Why would you guys so passive to bad policies? Why wouldn't you guys want to improve wate ways to improve commerce.

The clamp down on land borders is due the rampant smuggling going across Nigeria Niger. Second crime builds up in those sections.

Oil is going extinct as the world's major revenue earner, the rich mineral resources of the North is not being explored, no one is wailing.

This due to mining regulations that hurt industry. Next why is this a point to brag about. The change in policy in 1971 made it so government lead the mining sector instead of private sector. Then the indigenous Decree of 1972 hurt industry. Then look at the public companies that failed to exploit riches in earth. (Nigerian Mining Corporation, Nigerian Coal Corporation, Nigerian Uranium mining Corporation)

The poverty rate in north could be alleviated by mining activity. Leaders should be looking to attract investors and probably doing PPP. Right now SW leads in Mining production.

Thats because government before then hurt the north by messing with fiscal allocation formula over years. Why wouldn't you agitate to boost tax revenue? The agitations eventually helped when oil is extracted by Chad basin that's 13% derivation. Btw it would be good idea to agitate for it. I hand you a link on it.

aboki na was it only northern leaders that where targeted in the 1966 coup?who beheaded killed murtala?was it not a fellow northerner?and you want to blame southerners for the death of abacha, yar'adua and buharis illness?you must be high on cow dung mixed with daura weed. northerners have held on to power for close to 40 years or more and brought the country into deep mess and you are here ranting nonsense...you have hausa quarters in almost every part of the south, your almajiris and polio infested beggars line up the streets of every major southern town and how many times are they harrased like your fulani herdsmen do others?u can ask dangote to relocate his refinery and other businesses to zamfara or nguru and also ask ibb, dantatas, bayeros, indimis, danjuma and co to give up their oil blocs to southerners and go mine ur abundant solid minerals up north...i only blame lugard

The truth is most northerners especially Muslims believe in destiny......

They simply dismiss any bad thing as God will and pray that it's for the best.... And they move on.....

You can quote me anywhere should buhari die tomorrow (god forbid) the outrage will be for a few days and that's it....... the northerners will simply move on with their lives and say it's the presidents time to go and everyone else is waiting for their time....... grin

This shows who ever wrote this doesn't understand the difference between passive tolerance and laziness.

Nobody cries for coup plotter that came in by the gun. Honestly their should always be investigation and trials. These guys are killing eachother off for power aren't they?

The Southerner can acquire land in any part of the North to build house(s), Church and pursue normal (and abnormal) businesses without discrimination, the Northerner (Hausa Fulani) cannot do that in the South south.

I don't know if that's true or false some should react to this.

Doubt this one. I'm from Akwa-Ibom nobody cares about your kaftan. I doubt three-quater dress story. Tolerance is good. It's about respecting people rights to hold opinions and speak freely without violence as long they aren't treating life. The same with actions.

Now another eminent assassination in the way, on one of the most astute and most disciplined son of the North (observers close to state house murmur gas poisoning), just like Yar'adua, the Presidency is quiet about it.

It seems Nigeria needs to learn from Secret service in The United States or some other nation. How could they sneak gas into state house.
Re: Northern Nigeria Is Too Tolerant - Facts Cannot Be Disputed by GreyLaw(m): 3:54pm On May 09, 2017
Look at this young man spewing skewed logic here. Nobody, I repeat, nobody harasses anybody in the South for wearing kaftan. Oh, I lived in Sokoto and I know how extremely difficult it is to get land in many local governments to build a church. Where there are, like in Goronyo, Wuruno etc, they just bundle all the churches to one desert-like land, away from their people.

People should even clap back at you for saying the North is docile! Docile after uprising upon uprising where scores of innocent souls are killed in the name of religion, right?

Did Nigeria destroy your lands the way the lands of those guys in the Niger Delta are being destroyed with poisonous fumes and oil? How about their waters and fish destroyed by oil spillages? Did Nigeria take all your groundnut and cotton and nationalise the profits?

I beg, look for something smarter to say!

The North is so intolerant, corpers are killed just because they are Southerners. The North is so intolerant, it kills Southerners and Christians for activities of an unknown journalist in Denmark. The North is so backward because the elite refuse to educate their populace so they can be used as foot soilders in their bid to hold on to power. Out of Nigeria's 57 years of independence they have ruled for at least 32 years and has killed thousands of Southerners and Christians for very flimsy reason. The North owns 80% of oil blocks, they head almost all agency including all the offices of security. The truth is that the North has kept us backward

Re: Northern Nigeria Is Too Tolerant - Facts Cannot Be Disputed by Nobody: 4:41pm On May 09, 2017
@friengNG northerners are decent people but neither Lagos not oil infrastructure was built with northern agric proceeds. Cocoa contributed at least 40% of national budget pre-1970( somewhere around 30 to 40 mill/100 mill)and it came from western Nigeria. And oil infrastructure was developed by multinationals.
Oloibiri by Shell in '56 ( 5,100 barrels a day) , Amoseas( later texaco now chevron), eni and safrap( later elf now total) came in between '62 and '63. The national development plan of tafawa balewa knew that the agrarian undeveloped economy could not fund exploration activity. Note that later Royal Dutch Shell investments in the same decade would total more than the entire national budgets that averaged around 100 million a year.
They built PH refinery in '65 as part of the terms of their contracts that specified downstream infrastructure at production levels of 500,000 barrels and over. Safrap did the solar research center at ABU and Amoseas eko hotel. These were things that 100 million/year Nigeria could not freely do.
Post 1970 with production levels reaching 2 million barrels a day Nigeria was making times fourteen to twenty its 1960s agric revenue. Just 1970 revenues alone from oil dominated entire budget and exceeded all agric. revenues till that date( 1.4 billion). Now Nigeria has earned over 600 billion dollars from that oil. By far dwarfing any other revenue source whatsoever.
Easy to talk about how this vrop or that crop funded this or that, but look at specifics, the global agric market relies more on large scale diversified production to even make up to half what a seller of a million barrels of oil would make in year. The crude and refined industry is about 2 trillion dollars a year. Largest of any commodity. Groundnuts earned less than cocoa and oil palm from the east and delta.
Therefore that fb post is ill informed.

Exactly!

Even more, the piece is riddled with a lot of assumptions, which lean more toward falsehood.

The OP cannot just sit in his room and decide that Yar'adua's pericarditis was poisoning, even though the man was sick as Katsina governor; decide that Buhari's unfortunate illness is also poisoning, even though the man had been sick all along even before the elections; etc.

The piece is more like a subliminal call to arms, achieved by highlighting grieviances, both perceived and real, in order to incite.

If the SW get angry about Abiola et al, and their cocoa, the SS get angry about Sarowiwa and their oil, the SE get angry about the war and other perceived greviances, coupled with the ever combustible North, then, this country will be up in flames.

Is northern Nigeria tolerant?

Yes, very.

Is this thread necessary?

I believe not.

However, in the way that you meant it, the northerners are that tolerant because they kill their own with their own hands.

If they were too tolerant, we wouldn't have had the numerous religious and other crises that engulfed the north at various times.
