Icon4s:you're right but the NFF should approach him through their representative if they even have one.... they should make him feel loved and let him know his progress is being followed back home and hope it won't turn us down when we come calling.... that's it...rohr can't do everything... that's why I am expecting pinnick to use his influence to talk to some of the players....his problem even self is that he talks too much..almost all of them fathers are his friends...and they all grew up together bla bla bla.... should he visit any of them now...he will not let us rest even the English press will get to know... |

Joebie: I believe what Sir Icon4 is strictly against is the invitation of every dick and harry all because they're foreign born.... any player that should be invited should merit it....though our national team handlers often does not see the future..so myopic but still effort should be made to spot talents amongst these foreign groomed Nigerians 1 Like |

good but we can't afford to lose our very best to other nations. the fact is Rohr will not be our coach 8 years from now. It's not all about Rohr. The NFF have been playing a part in this as well. We cannot wait for white man to plan our future for us. Icon4s: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 8:02pm On May 10, 2017 |
And i've stressed it over again that i'm talking about our best players regardless of where they are born. Which is why we cannot only afford to settle for players that England for example wont have even considered in their main team, just because we were not proactive enough to spot their special talent early. Joebie:Your last sentence: but you wait for the white man to groom those players and then you want to harvest the best of them to your country. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 8:08pm On May 10, 2017 |
This is the first UCL season that I have seen that even with a 4-0 first leg win you may still crash out. ATL 2:0 RMA (2:3) in less than 15mins! |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 8:09pm On May 10, 2017 |
hahahahaha.. unbelievable.. I'm sorry the white man grooming some of our Nigerian players does not stop us from developing our own youth system. At the same time, just because the white man groomed some of those players does not mean you should pitch your home grown players against his. What is seemingly his could be ours, else FIFA wont make that provision which have benefited many countries. Please don't even start an argument that is already dead. Icon4s: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Humility017(m): 8:11pm On May 10, 2017 |
Joebie:you're right... that's why I will only support an ambitious indigenous coach...the reason why we're seeing this invitation for the SE games now is because rohr is an ambitious coach....and not as corrupt as some elements we all know. as long as some of Nigeria football officials keep getting some cuts from players signings (export from the domestic scene to Europe) lots of good foreign lads will always be ignored...because they won't want to grease the palms of these corrupt folks in like manner |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 8:18pm On May 10, 2017 |
Thank you. We need to improve football in the grassroots and our domestic league. But we also need to make provision for special talents groomed abroad. Winning them over is a win for us. If i'm getting Icon4s clearly, he is saying these special players in question need to first show the interest. Oga i no agree for that one oh. One thing I will never subscribe to is that there is only one way you should catch a fish in the midst of many ways. The idea of patriotism here is not realistic since many of these lads have never even visited Nigeria. Let's be realistic, we will need to do some convincing in some cases. Humility017: 1 Like |

Joebie: What if you approach them and they are still not interested? That is what I am talking about. Look at Gabby Agbonlahon, Nedum Onuoha, Sydney Sam, Patrick Owomoyela, Ugochukwu Ehiogu, . If they chose their country of birth what do we do? Continue to cry? |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 8:43pm On May 10, 2017 |
No! we don't cry. We simply move on. Do you personally have a big ego? Rejection is a part of life. Some of these players never had their Nigerian parent in their lives while growing up. Some of them will never feel Nigerian unless you give them a course to. Showing interest in them is a first step. They may take interest and start to look at Nigeria's football history, that's if their parents never played an active role in this regard while they were growing up. Welcoming them to the SE family is another. We have to treat situations differently. We can't always apply a general rule. So do you just dock just because you are scared of rejection, and miss a chance to land a player that would have represented Nigeria? Sir, following your rule, we will not have the likes of Ola Aina in our fold now. I can still mention some others that were courted before they agreed. Icon4s: |

Joebie: what's the joke about? Sounds like a nice game to me, the away team scored with the last kick of the ball and no one got hurt. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 8:59pm On May 10, 2017 |
Joebie: Please we only need players who will be committed and patriotic. Any player who doesn't chose Nigeria just let him be. Beg them to play and we'll continue to beg them to play. And please keep the discussion civil if you want me to continue in this discussion. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 9:04pm On May 10, 2017 |
haha.... if we are all scared of getting hurt and our security outfit is not ready to take up the real challenge then we will keep getting scorelines like this influenced by the home team. Let me see what led to those Gombe goals before I laugh again. BascoVanVeli: |

Sir, firstly you are saying they show interest first before we invite them. I faulted you on that because it's not realistic in some cases. secondly, you don't beg if you have the right systems for approaching. thirdly, even in the face of rejection you don't keep "begging". Fourthly, I was just making a point that rejection is a part of life. Else we will not apply for school, toast a girl etc etc.. if that ego statement offends you, sorry o.. but we dont want people like you turning away the likes of Alaba because of home grown talent rule hahaha.. Look at us now.. still searching for a reliable left back. Reality has set in. MODIFIED let me add. Patriotism cannot come in if someone doesn't feel Nigerian. So you have ruled those in that category out. Very unfair since you didn't give them a chance. Commitment cannot be determined at the beginning. Sometimes these things come with maturity in the game. Oga you will rule out many abroad born players PREMATURELY oh. I pray you never make it to NFF. and not be swear, it's just that you seem like that kind that will repeat those things we have been frowning at. Icon4s: 1 Like |

Joebie:you're absolutely right... we will need to do some convincing just that Nigeria is a very proud nation... it baffles me when we refuse go after these foreign lads on the prism of patriotism.... even the leaders who are being paid juicy salaries and allowances and still bent on milking the nations treasury is not as patriotic as these young lads.... take it or leave it....some of the homegrown talents could have done worse should they've the opportunity like these foreign groom guys they should be convinced of a great future should they team wit the SE...for example as men we woo after our wives or the women in lives at one point that does not mean we beg them to stay or marry us.... even England in the very last minute still refused to give up on iwobi amidst his decision to play for Nigeria and still keep sending him emails.... 1 Like |

Icon4s: sir...you said "what if" let's approach them first....than not do at all it's just we're just too proud in this country I read somewhere of Berkeley naming Nigeria as one of the possible nations we could play for at the full international level... the young man even had Nigeria in mind but none of our officials ever know of him as a Nigerian let alone approach him let me say this...it is normal for these lads to dilly dally in accepting to play for Nigeria reason because of fear of uncertainties some of them have never been to Africa... they know nothing about Africa football etc moreover Nigeria is a big force to reckon wit in football... they know this so let's approach them first |
