It's better you buy sand, cement and gravel. It's cheaper if your brick layers do it for you. I think they are gonna realise 40 blocks per one cement (not so sure).

It really minimize cost and the blocks would really be appreciated when done.

Rather than buying blocks why don't you consider moulding 'em? It costs less 2 mould ur blocks rather than buying

I am taking delivery of my block moulding machine (locally fabricated) next week to make my own blocks. The advantages are that you have control over quality (sand: cement mix ratio), block size (many of the blocks sold to ppl do not meet actual stated sizes) and reduced over all production cost per block (by direct labour) compared to commercially purchased ones.
However, this is probably more advantageous to someone embarking on a large scale or long term project only - due to the scale of proportions involved.

Why stop at the price of 6/9inch blocks? .
