Originalsly: I am presently offering a msc course in virology and can authoritatively tell u that Ebola has bin a recurrent occurring in Congo since d 70s. It even wiped out an entirely population of gorrilas in that country in the 80s. Something abt viruses is that they cant survive on dia own. Virus need host cell to metabolize and replicate and are considered dead when outside a host so virus don't set out to kill u when dey enter u cus killing u also affects them. They die once outside a host. Bats and many animals are natural host to many viruses and Des animals don't die. Organisms are killed by virus when they are a new host to that virus I.e the virus is entering dia body for d ist time and dia immune system can't get used to these viruses before dey bcom virulent. The west Africa case of two years back was massive cus that region was new to the virus . d virus got introduced to a new environment of people whose ecosystem had Neva had exposure to it before. How it got to west Africa is even still unknown cus it has always been confined to Congo. This was a even a topic of a seminar discussion last week. Since Ebola was only killing few people randomly in Congo for years, the search for its vaccine lacked the needed motivation and financial backing. What will be d effect of few people in some back villages dieing in some poor country. So the big companies and NGOs turned the other eye cus it was not a profitable venture to pursue. It became profitable when it crossed to west Africa and became a major epidemic. Now in less than 2 years, they found a vaccine. |

nevilbot:Not at all surprised. How it got to West Africa would not concern me as much as how it got to the Congo in the first place. Did you guys discuss that? About the vaccine.... do you know the US government gave billions for the pharmaceutical companies to come up with a vaccine?...and did you know where that vaccine was to be tested on humans?...and d is still being tested on humams? Africa... not America. This can very well be a case of experimental vaccine getting out of control. Don't ever believe that what pharmaceutical corporations do is for your benefit.... it may benefit you.. but their objective is to make money...lots of it....even if it means introducing an epidemic to sell a vaccine... and that is the new trend.... Bird Flu... Swine Flu... Ebola... Zika... a return to Ebola this year?..I guess. |

Originalsly: I initially mentioned that the vaccine development bypassed all d known stages of drug development. It was tested directly on sick Ebola patients. It does not make sense to test it on Americans since dey dont av any case of it. Where else will it be tested if not a region that is prone to outbreak and undergoing an outbreak. So as regards that, don't get urself cooked up in any conspiracy theories. Its just like u getting angry on why a malaria vaccine sponsored by who is being tested on Nigerians and not Europeans or Americans when its not news that they don't av malaria. When dia was d SARS outbreak in China, did dey come test d vaccine in Africa? Nope, it was tested in China cus that's Wia it was needed. No one is using Africans for experiments in this Case, Africa has an ongoing Ebola epidemic so it makes perfect sense to test the vaccine where it is needed. As for how d virus got to Congo, I mentioned that d virus wiped out some gorrilas in Congo showing that d gorrilas must av come in contact with it in dia habitat. D virus is native to Congo and bats and chimpanzees in Des area are known to harbour d virus with no harm to them. The ist time d white even heard of d virus was when dey imported some of these apes to German town of Marburg for research and some of them got exposed to it and got killed by it. U can Google Marburg virus for more on that. So my dear friend, no one brought d virus to Africa, in fact Africa exported d virus to the world! |

nevilbot:There is nothing new under the sun. Not saying the virus per se was brought to the region from abroad.... I'm saying they are changing the nature of the virus in their labs right there in the region ... and this is this is usually the result when the virus gets in the public and out of control. This is nothing new with biological experiments. Malaria.... nothing new... a killer?... no doubt... but the 'bush people' been living with it and not wiped out....why?... there's nothing new under the sun. Population control.... conspiracy theory..... maybe you need to see and hear Bill Gates give a speech on that... should be on You Tube....then maybe you would have a closer look at these outbreaks. |
