No official figures exist to the public about the GDP of the city. There are varying estimates, that it comtributes btwn 20 to 40 percent to the national GDP. Kenya GDP currently stands at 75bn$, I would take the middle ground there that it accounts for the 30% of the national GDP.

May I inform u that Nairobi is not just tourism, it is the largest industrial, banking, communication, a major transport hub, a huge comcentration of retail centers, a booming real estate sector, insurance and hospitality imdustries and one of the leading centers for the foreign investors seeking to make their inroads into the African market.

Too low? Duh! For a developing country like as Kenya, that is very high, comsidering that some countries- in fact most countries in this comtinent have that size.of the GDP if not lower.
Again, Lagos may have a GDP that exceeds the that of Kenya, at 95bln$, but look at its population, which is around 20mln, vs that of Nairobi which is 25bln$ with a population of only 3.5mln.

Now work out the GDP per capitas of boyh cities.....Nairobi's would be around $6500 whilst Lagos' $4500!

GDP per capita should determine that. SAn cities hav higher GDP PCs. If Nairobi comtributes 30% to the economy, making its economy worth 25bln$, that should means it has 6500$ as its GDP PC.
