"Bunmi,omo mi", my mother exclaimed as she surveyed my wedding dress. "Simon and Joylyn are already here o",she added referring to my soon-to-be husband's parents
It was my wedding day. I was nervous.
Dayo and I had been friends for as long as I could remember. Our parents had always been friends so it was quite natural for us to be friends as well.
Our friendship had blossomed into a relationship when my parents had had a divorce on the grounds of infedelity from both parties. Dayo had been my pillar.
After the divorce was finalised,my father had disappeared without a trace.Along the line,Dayo had asked me to be his wife and I had replied in the affirmative. And while my mother and Dayo's father had been in full support, Dayo's mother hadn't .
"Joylyn,it is me,Bola,your childhood friend and I don't understand why you don't want us to the inlaws",my mother had asked on several occasions.
" I just think John should know"
"Oh,my stupid ex-husband",a series of hisses followed. .

"...speak now or forever hold your peace".
I smiled but my smile vanished immediately a hand went up. I heard alot of "ohs" and "ahs" when everyone realized it was my estranged father.
"Dayo is ...",he paused, "Dayo is my son".
The whispers grew louder.
"Quiet",my father yelled.
Facing Dayo,he added,"You and Bunmi are my children so this incestuous marriage can't hold".

I was about to faint when my mother stepped out undisturbed and calmly declared
"Bunmi,don't mind this yeye man jare,Simon is your father".
I didn't even notice when the groom fainted.
