I am talking abt Abuja? Is Abuja not in the middlebelt? Is it in the core-north?
Yes, middlebelt states may not be very urbanised because we had no ancient cities and did not control the administrative cities of old northern region, but look at our literacy rates, we are almost catching up with the south. Our people are rapidly coming out of poverty. And education came to all northerners (core-northernerd and middlebelters) the same time. Why then have the middlebelt people made much more progress than your own people who dominated the leadership of the old northern region and even the entire Nigeria?

Apart from the ancient Kano city, can you show me any other Hausa-fulani or Kanuri city in the core-north that is better than Jos?
Don't even dare mention Kaduna city because most of that city belongs to Gbagyis (Southern kaduna people) who are part and parcel of the middlebelt.

And you can imagine that even the Kano state with the mighty Kano city has 70% of it's citizens living in extreme poverty.
The middlebelt state with the highest poverty rate is better than the core-northern state with the lowest poverty rate.

It's a good thing however that you are one of the few educated core-northerners with positive thinking and mindset, but it's so sad that majority of your people are a direct opposite of you.
Core-northern leaders and elites have succeeded in creating a society where there a very rich few educated elites and poor uneducated masses!

Many middlebelt and yoruba muslims may join all manners of islamic groups or be muslim fanatics in their hearts, but they always find it very difficult to express this fanatism outside in the open, because they are more educated and found themselves in liberal community settings that frown on religious extremism.

Your last paragraph... Na wetin I wan hear bdat. Hahahaha... I no mention any state name u don de para kaduna belongs to gbayis but na stil core north e de Ai and Abuja na fct no b wuna get am lolz!

If u could recalled...most northerners were happy wen Gej made d late Ado Bayero's son d emir, despite de don't like Gej then, but wen kwankwaso declined it nd md SLS d emir dey started a riot. Do you know y? Just because sls had an issue wit sheikh Ja'afar nd sls is not part of Dem. So de tamed him a " shi'ite" jst to deceive dere gullible followers. Till today, daz d reason dey kip attacking Sls notin else.

The pattern are not different from the ones in Ibadan and Abeokuta though the ones in Abeokuta are more stylish.

The only difference is this are well maintained for tourism purpose. grin

Lol.....now every time you see a good thing about Kenya you'll be saying for tourism purposes. You mean in Nigeria people can't maintain their houses in good condition if not for tourists? Lol.

Anyway, stop comparing those nice Lamu houses to those crappy slums in Ibadan.

How can anyone miss dear Ibadan.
ile Oluyole. Ilu Ogunmola. the city that fought relentlessly to defend Odu'a Nation from Fulani's jihad.
I laugh when i see sad slobs are comparing wretched Kibera slums to Ibadan.

Yes! Much of Lagos state is divided into towns. All these places developed simultaneously and merged together with to form the mighty Lagos urban area.

And stop giving flimsy excuses about different nairobi districts having populations of different income classes. This is also the same case with lagos state urban areas.
Some Lagos towns have people of different income classes living together.

I decline comparison because it is insane to compare Lagos suburban towns of millions of people, to Kenyan estates with a few thousand people. It's just like comparing Nairobi to west Africa.

If you have some senses, you would know that only Nairobi's districts can compare Lagos suburban towns and local govt areas.

Were we arguing about size or the quality of lives? Please be straightforward and stop shifting goals.

Yes, that tower is ugly and you know it.

The tallest tower in Eldoret is actually same height with Cocoa House yet more modern and good looking.

MUPS tower Eldoret.
Lol, a tower built before you were even born or a before Kenya even dreamt of building a skyscraper is "ugly." Personally I think the Cocoa House is a testament to the fact that Africans were capable of greatness. It bares the scars from its past. There was a time when it caught on fire, but it still survived to tell its stories today. When cocoa tower was surpassed by the Schlesinger Building in SA, it sounds great until you realize it was built in the Apartheid era and Schlesinger is a German/Jewish last name.

A tower that sprung beneath the local African-made cocoa industry decades ago and built by the collective will and hardwork of the people cannot be compared to such thing as the MUPS tower. When the story of Africa's sky scrapper and history is being told, the Cocoa house will always be mentioned and forefront. It has a more intriguing story than MUPS plaza which doesn't ring a bell.

One last thing, stop lying. MUPS and the cocoa house have the same floor count, however they are not comparable in heights. Cocoa house is around 344.49 feet tall, a thing like MUPS plaza is only around 294.25 feet tall.

1. Sorry to say but a "bad building" is not a "bad building." Not all bad buildings are created equally. Some bad buildings need upgrades like a new roof like those found in Ibadan, Detroit, and villages in Italy. Other bad buildings like the one in Nairobi's slums and Makoko lack structurtal integrity and were not built on a structural foundation plan, they are just mere shacks of metal and scraps.

2. Do so...those areas are part of Lagos metropolitan so I don't care. Also, most of the slums are from Nairobi city itself, only a few are . The only areas that are considered slums in your list are Ilaje and Ajegunle, the rest are mixed communities of low-income and middle-income. They actually have houses, while many are low-income houses, they are not makeshift shelters of scraps.

I can see how you're jumping around making excuses when I did just as you did. See? I simply googled 'slums in Lagos' and posted the results just as you did with Nairobi. In Swahili we say 'Mkuki kwa nguruwe tamu kwa binadamu chungu' meaning that is sweet on a pig is very painful on human. Simply means people will enjoy doing bad stuff to others but complain bitterly when the same is done unto them.

thank u for ur love and support for Nigeria......... tongue tongue

but, in terms of economic and development performance, I'm not sure any west African country can match our achievement.

if I may ask.....why do u say we failed miserably?

Bro, even the comments from your fellow Nigerians, some of whom actually claim to stay or to have visited Kenya speakss volume about the state of the affairs in your country as far as development is comcerned.
Why do they speak of Kenya in such glowing terms.....about the quality education, efficiency of the of things like transport system, water supply, electricity, the roads, the housing etc.
These, with the so many inquiries we hav seen on NL and Linda Ikeki blog about Nigerians inquiring to relocate to Kenya tells me that things are quite serious over there.
I am not implying that my country is great, it has many challenges. But I have seen such postings on the Nogerian blogs of people seeking to relocate to the other countries such as Kenya, citing hardships and underdevelopment as their reasons.

Too many Nigerians crossing the great seas in search of yhe so called greener pasture.....(and here I dont say Kenyans dont do tjat, but yhe proportion in Nigeria is huge and tragic) .

What am i supposed to think, heafimg and seeing all these?

Ibadan back in the day in the old western region was a prospering city that thrived from commerce and agriculture until the discovery of oil and abandonment of regionalism. Ibadan is making a comeback now, so its all a matter time.
Yeah, he's been avoiding my questions, he likes to distract people from the actual issues facing his country but will like to show me the cosmetics. I am willing to admit the issues wrong with Nigeria with context as well as talk about the progress its undertaking.

Most of those old houses in Ibadan has become family compounds. It is to brag 'I am the son of the great warriors that was never defeated'.

Most of them don't live in those houses, they live in big porch houses in Ibadan but they make sure they retain their heritage.

Even though I lived in that city for almost 7 years, I never noticed those places until after 4 years. It was an amazing sight to behold from the hill.

Lamu houses are very visible in that picture but I can honestly tell you that some of those houses are well designed than lamu's homes, though lamu's houses are well maintained to make money.

Did you forget your brain buddy? How is its age related to its beauty? An ugly building is ugly - it doesn't matter when it was built. All those glorious stories you're coming up with don't change a thing. If you placed that tower and MUPS side by side anyone can tell you that MUPS is more beautiful. To hell with your stories. That thing is damn ugly.

And yes, they're comparable in height. MUPS is 96m (314 feet) not 294 feet. Those are buildings of similar height.
