True. That tower is Ugly man. How come Ibadan had the first skyscraper in Africa yet now it barely has a skyline? Smaller towns in Kenya such as Eldoret have more impressive skylines than Ibadan?

Because it lost its position as the capital of the most civilized people in Sub Sahara Africa due to the first military coup. grin

Bro, even the comments from your fellow Nigerians, some of whom actually claim to stay or to have visited Kenya speakss volume about the state of the affairs in your country as far as development is comcerned.
Why do they speak of Kenya in such glowing terms.....about the quality education, efficiency of the of things like transport system, water supply, electricity, the roads, the housing etc.
These, with the so many inquiries we hav seen on NL and Linda Ikeki blog about Nigerians inquiring to relocate to Kenya tells me that things are quite serious over there.
I am not implying that my country is great, it has many challenges. But I have seen such postings on the Nogerian blogs of people seeking to relocate to the other countries such as Kenya, citing hardships and underdevelopment as their reasons.

Too many Nigerians crossing the great seas in search of yhe so called greener pasture.....(and here I dont say Kenyans dont do tjat, but yhe proportion in Nigeria is huge and tragic) .

What am i supposed to think, heafimg and seeing all these?

yeah.......u made a point.
u know that no matter what a country offers its citizen, some will never be contented with it. the only thing Nigeria is suffering from is the erratic power supply, the rest are available but not enough.
and do u expect a foreigner to speak ill of a country he is? even our west-African neighbor's citizen (I didn't mention any name so as not to cause a commotion) will tell u their country is not rosy while Nigeria is better, same goes to every country on the face of the earth.

I may not sound convincing but that's the little I can think of now.

If losing capital position can change a city into that then you can't claim your country is civilized. Mombasa lost its position as the capital of Kenya Protectorate but Mombasa old town is well maintained and looks good.

Most of those old houses in Ibadan has become family compounds. It is to brag 'I am the son of the great warriors that was never defeated'.

Most of them don't live in those houses, they live in big porch houses in Ibadan but they make sure they retain their heritage.

Even though I lived in that city for almost 7 years, I never noticed those places until after 4 years. It was an amazing sight to behold from the hill.

Lamu houses are very visible in that picture but I can honestly tell you that some of those houses are well designed than lamu's homes, though lamu's houses are well maintained to make money.

To make money? People maintain houses for their own good. Am I getting the impression that you old do maintenance in Nigeria if it leads to making money? No wonder you have very huge yet dilapidated and dirty infrastructure.

even me in Nigeria didn't know its up to that.

This is a laughing matter, right? I am surprised that u do not know the death toll so far as a reault of the BH activities in the North. If I am lying, prove me wrong.

By 2014 they had killed 6600. Then who can forget what happenedvin January 2015 in the town of Bagah, where yhey killed nearly 2000 pipo in a single attack!
Then near daiily killings.....to thos day, only yesyerday they killed a guard at tje entrance of Maidugiri University.

I can see how you're jumping around making excuses when I did just as you did. See? I simply googled 'slums in Lagos' and posted the results just as you did with Nairobi. In Swahili we say 'Mkuki kwa nguruwe tamu kwa binadamu chungu' meaning that is sweet on a pig is very painful on human. Simply means people will enjoy doing bad stuff to others but complain bitterly when the same is done unto them.
Seeing that you ignored my first comment since you can't give a rebuttal and instead proceeded to point out the supposingly flaw in my second argument.
Now let me put this in actuality
Did I disputed that Babadogo, Dandora are not slums when you said they weren't?
No, I didn't. I also did the same thing you did by taking out areas I don't considered slum in Lagos.

The only thing I said was in respond to what you said that some of the areas aren't part of proper Nairobi and it would be unfair to list those areas you listed as part of Lagos proper. In response to this I said I don't care if you do, meaning I am willing to allow you to use the same standard I used to judge Nairobi to judge Lagos. It only goes in my favor because in all my long lists, you only considered Babadogo and Dandora as not slums, meanwhile in your list, I took out most of the areas of Lagos and placed only Ajegunle and Ilaje as slums.

just like the way ghana can never be compare to lagos. Both are error. I made this comment before you open up a samsung comparism which i defeated.
You never defeated the Samsung /Saudi comparison if you base it on the fact that samsung makes more money than saudi govt thats if we base it on revenue like you compared Nigeria's revenue to Aramco's revenue.Aramco according to the saudis is worth just 2tr$ as at this year and just $500bn according to experts.I gave you the link earlier on.Aramco pays about 90% as tax and pays 20% of the remainder as royalty to the royal family. So the company year in year out is left with very little.I will still like to see your link to prove aramco's cash reserve, pls(i can give u a link to nigeria's reserve easily).Meanwhile New york times once compared california to france because they both have gdps but comparing a company to a country is just plain silly unless you are ready to compare gdp and revenue.

Nigerians want to relocate everywhere, if only you knew. Traveling away from Nigeria is in the Nigerian blood, go to travel sections l would be shocked if you don't see a Nigerian there making enquiry about Togo. The average Nigerian who has not researched on Kenya would not think it is better than Nigeria or more developed but still want to go there because he believes it would provide him a better environment to succeed than Nigeria or that there are real untapped opportunities there for him, and if he finds out that Kenya even have constant light, then vollla.

A bad building is a bad building. When a building is disused, demolish it and build a new one

2. The names you listed, some of them are not within Nairobi and others names of the same slum (area within the same slum) while others (like Babadogo, Dandora etc) are not even slums. I could do the same for Lagos too. See.

Agege
Ajegunle
Amukoko
Badia
Bariga
Bodija

Did you forget your brain buddy? How is its age related to its beauty? An ugly building is ugly - it doesn't matter when it was built. All those glorious stories you're coming up with don't change a thing. If you placed that tower and MUPS side by side anyone can tell you that MUPS is more beautiful. To hell with your stories. That thing is damn ugly.

And yes, they're comparable in height. MUPS is 96m (314 feet) not 294 feet. Those are buildings of similar height.
Lol, you had to resort to ad hominem attack to make your point. Also "ugly" is only a subjective term. What someone else finds ugly, others don't. For your information, I got my info from https://www.emporis.com/buildings/1267404/moi-university-pension-scheme-complex-tower-eldoret-kenya.

Good thing you said similar height and not the same. However you want to phrase it, the Ibadan's cocoa house is still taller and reigns SUPREME cool and the amount of history in that building alone cannot be replicated in a thing like MUPS plaza. I'm done with this argument.
