it's only in Nigeria that people that are asslickers are considered to know how to work against people that are very professional.

The paradox is you don't go all out finding jobs, you probably don't need to, but you end up getting what is yours. Most likely you become your own boss due to the fact that you have it in you. Introverts are usually bosses or employers

Alright,I applied for the job immediately after my youth service. I didnt stay at home for up to 3weeks before i started working as an admin assistant. During the interview i guess i impressed her because i was given an appointment letter immediately. I was always attentive and learning on the job but its wasnt really easy because i didnt have prior experience. To cut the story short i started noticing my boss angry and always complaining all the time. I didnt know how to handle the situation,a former staff told me thats how she is that i should try and get closer to her which am not good at.
The way i was brought up contributed to me being an introvert, its takes time for me to build relationship with people. I dont just click to people instantly. Whenever the boss arrived my co workers would go and meet her at the parking lot,collect her bags and carry her baby then they would gist ask her about her night bla bla bla even if she was angry with them she would have to forget whatever transpired between them.
The final straw was when a customer came and i was filling in for another person then i couldnt answer the customers question but she just started raging ,she wouldnt even sit down the next thing she called my boss. I was filling in for someone who quickly stepped out so the questions she was asking,i had no idea. I guess i felt intimidated by her cos she didnt even allow me talk and i suddenly forgot how to be a professional. Its was all for the best tho cos its was a 7am to 5pm job,of which i would have woken up 4am so i can leave home 5am and beat the traffic at VI,then sometimes i dont leave the office till around 6 or 7, then get home 8pm which the pay wasnt much and tf was eating all of it from surulere to VI everyday.

Sounds to me like u weren't dedicated or matured enough to handle working environment. Your boss was not the problem, you were. You should adapt to fit ur job and not vice versa.

Actually u are not alone. This is a problem with most of our youth. Laziness is a big no no

I'm an introvert and I have a job. I didn't go looking tho, I was recommended for the job and got it based on my skills. And based on the fact that I always pay attention to details,I am able to do my job effectively. I was promoted to General Manager which basically means I have to start interacting with people on a daily basis. Now I am an Introvert with a temper. I get irritated and angry easily, Especially if I'm trying to explain something and the person is not getting it. Pisses me off. Thanks to my boss tho, I've learnt how to tolerate people Especially annoying clients.

The problem with Nigerian system is that we mistaken loudness for effectiveness. We expect everyone to have same extroverted character. That's why things rarely work out in the long run for most institutions. Because we miss out on very effective, intelligent introverted individuals. The interview method in Nigeria is flawed and people behind it don't even know what they are doing and can't get what they want. An average introvert will 'break down' in front of a seven-man panel. Whereas he would likely be freer in front of one man interviewer. Does that mean he's less effective? No.

In my own case. I get jobs easily but sustaining it is d issue. Cos some people will think u have malice with them. Where as u don't. I'm just into myself that's all

INTROVERTED BEHAVIOUR is a plus, it envokes pity/interest from employers, if only d introvert can add smartnes s/he will be able 2 play his hand properly. In career, introverts should try if possible 2 avoid ones that will demand human relations, but in truth, personality traits are mixtures not wholes. Concentrate on ur strengths and get what u want

I can relate to what you experienced, some of us are just like that but in future try to improve in some peoples' skills, it will help you in other jobs or your own private job. Number one thing human crave for so much is attention, give it to them and they will give anything in return.

I am still an introvert but now know how to relate to people well without changing my nature, thanks to some books by Dale Carnegie. I wish you the best.

I'm an introvert but I no dey dull myself. I be sharp guy walahi. .one thing about me is that I get angry easily...and I dnt take shit at all...because if I para enh...people around me go fear walahi......well I'm still n my early 20's and I dnt plan to work under any body unless federal or state government job....I'm already saving for my future. .after I graduate...na far state from my state I dey go to start new life....

Be a freaking freelancer, I aint working for anyone no more. Especially that carrying a bag of a thing,wetin concern person wey dey IT department with carrying your bag from your car,wetin do your hand. And the eye service the other employees doo, arrrgh.I am sticking with freelance .

Being an introvert is actually cool but people in this part of the world most people don't understand human nature and psychology. Most see introvert as Dummy, proud or a shy person which actually are not real.

To be introverted comes with some disadvantages in the work place, the good news is that these cons can be changed to strength if the person in question can improve in some areas of relations, public speaking and general confidence building. Knowing that people don't usually give a f**k will go a long way in realizing that life is beautiful.

You don't have to be an extrovert overnight, you just have to improve on some areas of life, go out there, mingle for a while and go back inside to enjoy your private time and recharge.

its quite a big challenge being an introvert in d Nigerian job market. This is because ppl won't understand u. Introvert is a trait either inherited or cultivated due to upbringing.
As an introvert u either termed a snob or 'over-serious'
Mayb introverts shud adopt some ideas of extroverts without licking anybody's a**.
Perhaps being ambivert will smoothen d rough edges.
I started mingling easily at work place wen I became ambivert.

Put your creativity to work, put your mind to use. You will discover a solution to a human problem and that will change your story.

Yes that's good. I used to be too rspecially at meetings but then you just have to speak up when things concerning your work are being discussed Also it is good for people to identify where you stand on issues before they count you as an enemy

Introverts need to be smart,intelligence is different from smartness............if you are in an environment and they want you to blend with them,please so!!!..it is not thatvhard....one thing I have come to notice is that a lot of people like pretence...so I give them what they want!!!!!.....someone say it is not easy,nothing is easy!!!!.......if my boss likes jist,na in go tire,....doesn't make me less of an introvert!!........the only downside are moodswings,which can be reduced by taking little alcohol. If I have to be with people and my mood has changed,I just take small liquor to make me get through....this life ,people judge you by what they see,not what you can do,introverts better start getting wise,before the lousy extroverts take all the juicy jobs!!!!
