olubankemi:Contraceptives is an issue for me too. I can't take anything hormonal because of blood pressure issues, condoms give me rashes, withdrawal method epic failure belle don enter 6 times, bIllings my oga no sabi timetable. The only options left is IUD I just pray it agrees with me if not I have to tie my tubes. Luckily when am breastfeeding exclusively I don't have periods . With my first period returned after 1 yr with the 2nd 18 months I am still waiting to see how this one goes. Before I forget mamas that first period after you have a baby is something else nobody told me how it is when I had my first. I was scared it was just like a tap . So be prepared for your first period in terms of pads and all so you don't mess up your clothes especially our working mamas 7 Likes |

Cc sugah sorry for bugging you, just want to be sure i'm doing the right thing finally resuming tomorrow, was given extra 15days. 1 Will be using this thermal bag, will express milk in two bottles and put it inside with ice 2 When she's ready to eat the bottle should be put in a bowl with warm water? 3 If she doesn't finish the milk at once are they to return it inside the thermal bag or throw it away?

olamitie:No p. 1. Two bottles of what quantity? It's easier to just pump and store the exact quantity that she eats each meal. 2. Yes, they'd put in a bowl of warm water to warm it up. 3. If she doesn't finish the meal, they can put it back in the bag within 30mins and can warm it again once. **Update** Please disregard this....it's for refrigeration not thermal bag. . If she doesn't finish the meal, they can put it back in the fridge within 30mins and can warm it again once. 1 Like |

hotmomma:Just so you know, some babies that have been breastfed only (no bottle feeding) do not accept other forms of food easily. It's hard to go from sucking (thrusting the tongue out) 'chewing' and swallowing that's why when you give them food it looks like they are spitting it out. Was he bottle fed at all? You might want to express to a bottle and have someone else feed him to start detaching him from your boobies. When I gave my baby his first food (Gerber fruits), I had to film his face cos he squeezed it like I had just given him lemon or chloroquine. Suffice to say, the meal did not go down well. Then I tried pap and he outrightly rejected it. I was already worrying when my DH told my neighbor about it and she brought over Amala and ewedu soup and fed him herself and he almost finished the plate of Amala. You also have to be persistent.. he would eventually start eating without too much hassles. 1 Like |

sugah:I am using a method that is or might be similar to the billings method and its working great for me. When I am ovulating, I abstain permanently. Its around 5 days anyways. When I am not, we use condoms + withdrawal method. My doctor gave me a prescription for mini-pills but I am too scared of weight-gain to use it. Same with the shots and also the IUD. I am just too scared to put anything hormonal or non-hormonal into my body. What I did (I have actually been doing it before I got pregnant and continued doing it after) was to download an app called Kindara. It's on the Apple Appstore and I figure it's gonna be on the Google Playstore too. Kindara has a feature that allow you record your BBT (Basal Body Temperature) every morning. Once you enter your BBT in the morning, it plot it into a graph for you. Let me explain BBT. Basal body temperature (BBT) is the lowest body temperature attained during rest (usually during sleep). It is usually estimated by a temperature measurement immediately after awakening and before any physical activity has been undertaken. Women who have natural menstrual cycles have a bi-phasic BBT pattern. Bi = two , phasic = phase, so that means your temperatures have two phases. The first phase of your cycle has low temperatures, while the second phase of your cycle has higher temperatures. The first phase is called the follicular phase. This phase starts on the first day of your period, each cycle, and ends at ovulation. Your BBT will show a set of low temperatures during this time, usually ranging from 97.0 to 97.6. After ovulation is the luteal phase. Progesterone, produced by the corpus luteum during your luteal phase raises your core body temperature. During your luteal phase your BBT will rise to higher temperatures, usually ranging from 97.7 to 98.3. The range of temperatures can vary from woman to woman, as everyone is unique. But the important thing to remember is that if you are cycling naturally, (not on hormonal contraceptives) your temperature chart will show this bi-phasic pattern. I lifted most of the BBT explanation from the Kindara website sha. Lol. I got a BBT thermometer from Target and just take my temperature every morning when my alarm wakes me up, I take my temperature first before getting out of bed. It takes seconds. Once I see my temperature shift, I know I am ovulating and know to be careful. Sometimes I use ovulation strips to test for ovulation. Let me attach some of my charts so you have an idea of what I am talking about The dates the chart lines went up dramatically was when I started ovulating and if you look at the Nov- Dec cycle, my temperature never dropped below the coverline or 98degrees again. That was the cycle I got pregnant. 3 Likes 3 Shares

Went back again and she was given injections. She's not just. Ready to take drugs. What do I do to help her? She has blocked nose. Some say it's cos she is teething, I do not believe this mirth. |

sugah: Doesn't really follow.my foodie dd was exclusively fed.i tink it depends on the child. Hotmomma u gat to try n find out wat he likes.there must be one of the food he takes with little struggle compared to others u have to turn to jackie chan to feed him. What i noticed is not every baby likes sweet food.till tomorrow my dd will never take banana or sweet potatoes. So i give bland fruits.u need to see her licking agbulomo like dis eh!. Jus watch him.he might struggle but he will definitely take some better than others. Also u have to be patient while feeding.one spoon allow to rest another. U can also play songs he might like while feeding. U can also try making his food little at a time.i dont feed my baby more than 120ml of food at a time but she eats up to 6 to 8 times per day. She has short attention span.if u make her food bigger.u go chop the remaining.meanwhile she will disturb u in an hr or 2 again o. Just find out wat works for him.all the best. |

olamitie: Pls don't return already warmed expressed milk to ice pack.biko. Expressed milk life span is actually 6 to 8 hrs room temp in our climate. If baby doesnt finish her milk it shud be kept withinroom temp.maybe on the shelf or bottle carrier bag and used up within the next 30mins atmost 1hr.if not pls discard even if it is 120mls left.i know its painful but the health of ur child matters.. To minimize wastage and promote hygiene.kindly mointor ur baby before u start this method. Stop milk in quantities she finishes at once. If she takes 60mls.store milk in 60mls every 2hrs till 3pm. That is u will need 4 to 5 bottles of expressed milk. That is how to go about it. For washing bottles.any mild liquid soap will do.jus rinse plenty times and sterilize properly after washing.u can boil or steam ur bottles. All the best. 6 Likes 1 Share |

olamitie:What time are you dropping her off? How many hours interval does she feed? That would determine how much milk to pack for her so she doesn't end up hungry and crying before you come get her at 3. And also if there's some kind D of traffic and you can't get her at 3, she should still have food to keep her until you come. How old is she now? Disregard the putting the warmed milk back in the bag, that only works for fridge. Just pump the specific quantity she takes at each meal in her bottles and check the time interval between each feed and how long she would spend at the creche. So if she eats 60ml every 2hrs and she would be at the creche for 7hrs (8am-3pm) meaning she would eat 3 times, pump and Carry 4 bottles along. One extra bottle for contingency. We use normal morning fresh o. But the bottles/nipples are boiled for 5mins after washing. |

olamitie: For me, I pack like 6-7 bottles in my DD's creche bag, so that they don't have to bother washing and re-using. I politely told them not to wash the bottles so that it's not too much stress on them . So once they use a bottle, they put it in a separate bag and take a fresh bottle for the next feed. so far, so good......It's been fine and We haven't had any hygiene issues. Once I get home I soak the bottles in warm water, wash and sterilise overnight till the next morning and then I pack her bags again. It was stressful for me when I started, but now it's just one of those routine things. I also have a sterilising unit that stays permanently in the creche, which is where the nanny puts the unused bottles. For washing baby bottles, I use SUNLIGHT washing up liquid. It actually foams a lot so I have to rinse the bottles well with cold water and then one final time with hot water. This is my own creche 'modus operandi' 3 Likes |
